Myriad Devils-Chapter 183: The Inverted Cathedral (2/2)
Anon had left the inverted cathedral for some time.
The saint adorned in white invited Seth Constantin and the envoy to meet the purest incarnation before leading Anon to a temporary residence.
Upon returning to the inverted cathedral, the saint dressed in white garments sent both Seth Constantin and the envoy away.
Within the inverted cathedral, only the purest incarnation and the saint in white garments were present.
To the saint in white, it was obvious that the purest incarnation was pleased.
"Has the Human Lord’s schemes gone awry?" The saint in white asked. His words earned a light chuckle from the purest incarnation.
"For Us to know that, it entails that We know what the Human Lord is scheming," Seth smiled. "However, logically speaking, once the little lord’s will escapes the cosmic ruling, and he comes to realize how improbable and impossible spirit, flesh unity in the second world is, he will not resist the idea of entering the third world."
Sigh...
The saint in white smiled faintly.
"It is no wonder at all," He said with meaning. "When the bridge is established, this world will welcome the grand majesty of the Great Infernal God through you."
The purest incarnation shook his head.
"You are wrong," He corrected. "It is through Us, this world will welcome the grand majesty of the Great Infernal God."
Hearing this, the saint in white laughed with pleasure. The purest incarnation also smiled with amusement.
"But to establish the bridge..." As the saint’s laughter faded, he voiced his doubts.
The purest incarnation’s scarlet eyes shone with luster.
"It is because the bridge hasn’t been established, if the future goes awry, Anon must succeed in ascension. Because even if he were to transcend worlds, highly likely, he will not be capable of ushering the resonance." The purest incarnation said meaningfully.
"No matter what, the Celestial Supreme can not be allowed to incarnate into Anon’s body, because He will certainly be capable of creating an immediate resonance."
The saint heard this and realization dawned.
"You said highly likely, because..." The saint’s voice trailed.
The purest incarnation nodded, explaining, "Earth’s time flow is skewed," he said. "The 46 years since the rebirth, 46 cycles have passed in the cosmic space, and even more time has passed in the Lord’s World, yet no one has transcended worlds with a second world spirit."
"Even We do not know what kind of reward someone that achieves such a hypothetical feat will acquire." The purest incarnation concluded.
"No one has achieved that, because it’s absolutely improbable and impossible." The saint in white affirmed what the purest incarnation thought.
"Hence why Anon should not attempt ascension, because he will fail, playing into the hands of the most detestable, who will incarnate into his body, triggering the resonance immediately."
The purest incarnation and the saint in white said almost simultaneously. "Once such a reality plays out, We will be forced into a great disadvantage."
"Anon, upon entering the third world, will render all of these possibilities obsolete," the purest incarnation concluded. "However, We must be careful. If We approach wrongly, it may in fact, trigger Anon to attempt ascension, soiling our intentions."
.....
Anon’s temporary residence was protected by an invisible power. Inscriptions were scribbled in the ground and etched in the air in the form of arrays and protective formations.
Leading into Anon’s residence, there was a small garden of blood-red roses. The crimson stoned pathway in the garden complemented and intensified the strange vibe.
Within the manor, Anon sat next to a window, observing the garden of roses. There was a table in front of him with a cup of tea, steam rising from it.
His thoughts churned rapidly and his own destiny unfurled before him. It was the first time he was given a chance to truly test out the limits of his abilities.
He asked questions about himself, and sometimes indescribable sigils would appear, revealing to him what could not usually be seen.
Other times, he stared at empty air.
His abilities were naturally limited, but it still made him sigh with amazement.
’Is it because my spirit is more complete and perfect?’ Anon questioned internally.
From beginning to end, he had not even so much as whispered anything aloud. This was, after all, within the new world order.
Anyways, he already had practice with living in his mind.
Taking a sip from the cup of tea, Anon began assessing his situation.
’From what I’ve come to understand, transcending worlds is impossible with a second world spirit. The Infernal god side wishes for me to enter the third world, whereas another force wishes for me to attempt and fail my ascension.’
’Seth says that this force works in cohesion with my father, but he knows not about my True Father. The path my father wishes for me to take, is likely the path which an opportunity for success lies. As for what that path is, I’ve been given enough clues.’
With the power of destiny at his side, using it to his advantage wasn’t difficult.
Anon certainly was not one to waste whatever powers he wielded. At the very least, his situation wasn’t safe enough to allow him to be so casual and easygoing.
’Father allowed me to learn about the importance of willpower. With True Father mixed into the equation, if I look at it from this perspective, my soul is the only other thing that has greatly benefited due to father’s revelation.’
’My soul is also strange, so it is indeed obvious that, along with willpower, my soul is where my opportunity lies. An unfathomably more powerful soul, and a will that has escaped the cosmic ruling. This must be my only chance. I will not enter the third world, and I will not attempt spirit, flesh unity prior to achieving both of these.’
Although his only chance resided with achieving both an unfathomable soul, and a will that escaped the cosmic ruling, his own destiny revealed that even with these chances, success in his ascension was an absolute impossibility.
However, with the obscurity behind the indescribable sigils that revealed his destiny, and knowing of his own backing, Anon decided to place all his bets on this.
Maybe this would lead to the end of his path, or maybe this would give him the advantage he needed to complete his path.
Even if entering the third world was the safest option, sometimes the easiest choice was not necessarily the correct one.
Risking his life, in pursuit of fulfilling his own desires.
Did it make him a slave to his desires?
’Everything is subjective.’ Anon smiled.
’Suppressing one’s most primal desire because it was dangerous, or maybe because it was morally bad. What even is dangerous? What even is morality?’
’Isn’t that simply becoming a slave to another’s ideology.’
’This is why everything is subjective. In one person’s eyes, they may consider it as being a slave to one’s desires.
’And in another person’s eyes, they may consider it as attaining absolute freedom.’
’In the end, if I view it as freedom, it is freedom for me. If I view it as slaving away myself, it is slaving away myself to me.’
.....
The mind-swallowing abyss had greatly benefitted Anon’s soul and will.
The third trial in the lightning reckoning dimension had force his soul to squeeze out every bit of potential to nurture his will, however it did not strengthen his soul on a fundamental level.
Whilst the lightning reckoning dimension had seen his willpower dramatically increased, it was not a sustainable option, because the it was only increased due to his soul’s limited nurturing ability.
On the other hand, the mind-swallowing abyss improved the soul on a fundamental level, allowing his will to be nurtured indefinitely, once there were enough ingredients to continuously improve his soul fundamentally.
It might take slightly longer, however he hadn’t even entered the sixth layer in that mind-swallowing abyss.
The fact remained, there were countless more abysses as well.
Even if the benefits that swarms of cursed spirits gave him eventually decreased, with sheer quantity of resources, a qualitive change would happen anyway, right?
Anyway, upon explaining his intentions to Seth, the purest incarnation said with confidence, "Go rest your spirit for a period," At the time, he pointed at the saint in white. "We will retrieve you when everything is prepared."
Though Anon did not fully understand, in a way, he could trust the purest incarnation.
Using this opportunity, he drank a specially brewed tea. The tea leaves were a mystic treasure with the ability to relax the spirit and assist in cultivation.
When he felt the effects, he couldn’t help but chuckle.
It was a subtle, yet ultimately futile attempt.
After a period of six or so hours, the saint in white came to retrieve him. Soon after, he returned to the inverted cathedral with amusement and intrigue visible in his eyes.
The doors to the inverted cathedral opened, revealing a pathway, a bridge that was above, below, and between an ocean of chaos.
A myriad of dark energies existed no matter where he looked. His footsteps remained one step behind the saint’s as they walked on this bridge.
This bridge, this pathway, the isle stretched farther than miles, however their every footstep crossed a great distance, propelling them forward.
In less than seven footsteps, they appeared before a kneeling figure that whispered into the inverted cross that he clutched.
There was a statue in front of him, detailing an indescribable scene.
Seth rose and straightened his knees, turning toward Anon’s approaching figure, smiling.
"Dear Anon, you have expressed your desires, and I have fulfilled my part." The purest incarnation gestured toward the statue that slowly split in half.
Upon parting, it revealed a doorway.
"I must warn you," Seth spoke with a tone filled with false worry. "This door leads to a unique dimension. Therein, stellar cosmic energy does not exist and the spirit is suppressed. Death and slaughter is brimming, capable of swallowing the soul in the blink of an eye."
He sighed, and said, "To leave, one’s willpower must reach an incredible level. Are you certain you wish to enter? You must be very careful."
Anon shook his head and laughed.
He almost immediately understood everything, and he found it very funny. However, it was also in favor of what he desired.
"Worry not, Seth." Anon calmly stated, "I only hope you can prepare a congratulatory gift soon, because I will be returning shortly."
Seth smiled meaningfully.
"I certainly will."
