Myriad Devils-Chapter 184: Inverted Sky Dimension
"Oh my?!" As Anon stepped through the doorway revealed by the parted statue, his first step landed onto a strange grounding.
He looked at the ’ground’, immediately intrigued, and then he observed the world which he found himself in.
Anon was slightly stunned.
.....
Within the inverted cathedral, the purest incarnation observed the statue which displayed an indescribable scene.
These scenes pictured many different worlds, and one particular scene showed Anon stepping onto a fluffy black cloud.
"Of the many dimensions that the inverted cathedral has a connection with, the Inverted Sky Dimension is very suitable," the purest incarnation smiled. "Slaughter or death. There is no other choice. The more you slaughter, the more malevolence seeps into the soul."
"This is no little mind-swallowing abyss. This energy does not even target the will and can not be purified. An energy that seeps into the soul, augmenting and strengthening it on a fundamental level, but in exchange, the soul is corrupted on the most fundamental level."
"The will, nurtured by the soul, is obviously corrupted by one’s very own soul. Upon losing oneself, one becomes a spawn of the Great Infernal God. Even if one’s willpower escapes the cosmic ruling, one would instead become an incarnation of the Great Infernal God."
The purest incarnation suppressed the budding laughter within his chest.
"Once entering, there is no escape, unless one’s willpower reaches that stage, or unless one is transformed into God’s apostle. Even if the operating rules will prevent the second possibility, what can it do now? The one chosen by the Three Operating Rules, is actually the second coming of the Great Infernal God. The Celestial Supreme schemed, so We replied with a scheme as well..."
The purest incarnation found such a concept too lovely. The suppressed laughter momentarily escaped his lips before he concealed it once more.
On the other hand...
Unbridled, unsuppressed, and unrestrained.
The saint in white was not as skilled as the purest incarnation.
Both felt waves of ecstasy welling up in their hearts.
Within the Inverted Sky Dimension, a dimension already claimed by the Great Infernal God, all things had fallen under their control.
Here, the spirit was suppressed, so Anon could not even attempt ascension out of his own volition.
And even better, he was certain to become an incarnation of the Great Infernal God, if not even better, the God’s apostle, a spawn.
.....
There was a golden hue that covered the skies, stretching into the far horizon. Buzzing sounds of crackling lightning filled the world.
Some distance away, a humanoid figure in a diminutive form with a large head, seeming almost adorable, stood on Felix’s shoulder, observing from afar.
Its hair and eyes were ink black, and its skin was white with golden markings on its body.
The little Lightning Reckoning Orb took on a humanoid form, standing on Felix’s shoulder as the two watched on with excitement and nervousness.
The skies thundered as bolts of golden lightning fell from the heavens, shattering space, folding distance, and lashing against Jacob’s frame.
His eyes were shut, the world was silent as his spirit entered the third world. His hair were like gold-skinned snakes on his head standing on ends and moving in a snaky manner.
As he opened his eyes, the world seemed to lose color. No, a blinding light enveloped over a dozen miles, blinding even beast generals.
"Why are you guys so nervous?" Jacob’s voice came from behind them.
Meanwhile, in the skies, Jacob’s figure was still present, not fading away as a false body usually did.
"Is that..." The Lightning Reckoning Orb voiced, not daring to make assumptions.
"Indeed," Jacob smiled from behind.
He levitated in the air, golden lightning crackling across his skin as his voice sounded. "Each cell in my body is a concentration of lightning. Powered by trillions of batteries, it isn’t surprising that my speed has shattered the second layer of speed, and touched upon the cosmic ruling."
The speed of sound in this world significantly varied than the speed of sound in the old world. To go faster than the speed of sound was to shatter the first layer of speed.
To shatter the second layer touched upon the cosmic ruling. What it left was not a false body, because the Jacob who stood in the skies was in no way false...
"To go any faster," The humanoid dimensional core smirked. "You’ll be able to step out of the material dimension’s river of time."
The dimensional core stared at Jacob with fascination. "Since both your will and speed has touched upon the cosmic ruling, it isn’t too far-fetched to attempt ascension. Let me tell you, otherworldly beings are rewarded with divine bodies depending on the grade of their transcendence!"
Felix listened attentively to their conversation.
Ever since the Cinder Fiend battle, upon awakening, he was first shocked that he was still alive, then he realized that Jacob had disappeared, and when he was in the peak of confusion, the latter had returned, stronger than ever, and with a cute little doll-like person on his shoulder.
Felix, having recovered his senses, realized that Jacob might have stumbled upon a great fortune, and the little person’s knowledgeable persona had cemented this idea.
The dimensional core continued. "For example, someone who undergoes ascension with a fifth world spirit has a high certainty of succeeding even if their willpower does not touch upon the cosmic ruling, however they will be rewarded with the lowest quality divine body, an Earthly Body."
"Those who ascended in the fourth world are much better off. Most Dimension Lords transcended worlds in the fourth world, acquiring Cosmic Bodies. One must understand, the Cosmic Space is inherently chaotic, yet filled with endless opportunities. But if one’s divine body is lacking, these opportunities might simply become calamities instead."
The dimensional core then began narrating the story of a cosmic powerhouse.
"There was once an otherworldly knight who was unfortunately caught up in the same dimension as two enemy Dimension Lords. The battle of Dimension Lords resulted in the destruction and implosion of that dimension, however, the dimension’s implosion, along with the convergence of numerous unknown factors became his greatest fortune."
"Luckily for him, he had ascended when he had only just entered the fourth world. Even amongst those with Cosmic Bodies, his Cosmic Body was top-tier. Some time after, he appeared before one of the Dimension Lords, using that Lord as a stepping stone, he wielded the power of a million suns, each countless times more powerful than the sun of your old world."
"Ironically, this was his weakest showing. And now, he’s known as the Cosmic Guardian, an entity with power beyond your comprehension!"
The two who listened were very intrigued by the dimensional core’s narration. Anything about the cosmic space could catch their interest.
The dimensional core continued.
"However, even the Cosmic Guardian is forever stuck within the constraints of the Cosmic Space. No one who is not an Overlord can transcend the Cosmic Space and step beyond. Overlords are transcendental figures, each having transcended worlds as third worlders. They wield infinite power, and can even destroy the Cosmic Space!"
"Destroy the cosmic space?" Felix repeated, doubtfully.
Jacob sighed.
He did not doubt the dimensional core’s words, but even he knew, currently, it was a risk to attempt ascension.
"Transcendent Bodies," the dimensional core said. "Those to ascend as third worlders are rewarded Transcendent Bodies. Calamity becomes fortune. Destined Lord? Those with Transcendent Bodies have the chance to mold their own destiny, and possibly even become Overlords!"
Jacob immediately understood what it was trying to say. In the face of grasping one’s own destiny, what was a little risk?
Though hesitant, Jacob sighed and asked, "Can’t I wait until I reach the peak of the third world at least?"
"The Cosmic Guardian’s divine body, the Cosmic Body is top-tier even amongst other Cosmic Bodies. It is because he ascended when he had just entered the fourth world. Similarly, there is a difference between Transcendent Bodies. However, I too do not wish to see my successor fail his ascension. Failure, after all, means certain... Huh?"
The dimensional core’s words were caught off at the end. Jacob furrowed his brows upon seeing the little person’s expression.
"Jacob," The dimensional core, in the form of a little person, had a strange expression. It cautiously worded, "Within this material dimension, there are several spatial layers. Previously, Anon had left the main layer, but he was still within this material dimension..." Its voice trailed.
The surroundings began crackling with flashes of golden lightning. Even Felix’s aura escaped from his body. After all, he was not completely ignorant of the world now.
"Is Anon within this dimension?!" Jacob frowned deeply.
Previously, he did not wish for Anon to part ways with him.
As the Destined Lord, the successor of the Lightning Reckoning Dimension, the dimensional core should’ve listened to him.
However, it did whatever it wished, sending Anon back to the Lost Land. It greatly infuriated Jacob for some time.
Only because of Felix did Jacob forgive the dimensional core’s actions.
And now?
"No," The little person, the dimensional core felt genuine guilt.
Simply because its inheritance was fairly safe, didn’t mean that other inheritances were.
Even worse, who even said that Anon had entered another dimension for an inheritance opportunity?
Still, the dimensional core softly whispered, "He isn’t necessarily in danger..."
But before he could reason, explosions occurred in the surroundings, instantly leveling the surrounding miles of forestry.
.....
In relation to its name, the Inverted Sky Dimension was an endless world. The skies and the earth had switched places.
Here, the shattered earth was above and the blood sky was below.
Within the Inverted Sky Dimension, there were several limitations, absolute rules governing the dimension.
Inhabitants drifted across the blood sky, a vast and endless crimson sea, atop black clouds containing potential for infinite evolution.
In this world, it was said that the blood of a fallen god created the crimson sea. Those who fell into the sea would lose their minds, eventually sinking to the bottom of the sea, for eternity.
The shattered earth above were filled with holes, like pores, wherein blood-colored pillars connected earth and heaven.
These pillars was the blood of the fallen god, filling the crimson sea and causing it to expand infinitely.
Just as infinite was the journey of the lone drifter, a journey of cheating death and committing endless slaughter.
Within the Inverted Sky Dimension, even living was a form of torture.
