Chapter 185: The drifter cloud

The rules operating this world was indeed unique.

For example, upon stepping into this world, Anon found himself standing atop of a fluffy black cloud. His white tactical boots, and a portion of his white jeans were covered by the black cloud.

As he was observing this new world, caught in a moment of amazement, he had not realized the cloud’s actions as it swallowed his entire lower body.

Finally drawing his attention, he looked down with furrowed brows, however he did not appear to resist in the slightest.

The black cloud slowly covered his abdomen, chest, neck, before swallowing his entire figure after a while. Thereafter, information poured into his soul...

.....

In this world, the great cataclysm caused the reversal of the sky and earth.

With the reversal of the sky and earth, each inhabitant were bestowed a drifter cloud. From then on, inhabitants of this world were forced into an eternal slaughter.

Drifter clouds formed a connection with the soul, and they are the physical manifestation of a drifter’s soul strength.

Drifter clouds of similar levels would usually resonate with each other, even across vast expanses, bringing them to the other’s path.

Plainly put, when two drifter clouds crossed paths, only one can continue drifting across the sea of slaughter. The defeated drifter cloud is used as nutrients for the victorious drifter cloud, whereas the drifter themself, is nutrients for the victorious drifter.

Verily, this was a world of slaughter.

And it was in slaughter that salvation resided.

Drifter clouds are connected to a drifter’s soul, but more importantly, drifter clouds are the keys to salvation.

In this world, drifter clouds are separated into Nascent Cloud, Mature Cloud, Ancestor Cloud, Empyrean Cloud, and the Primordial Cloud.

Only a drifter that slaughters their way into nurturing a Primordial Cloud can possibly achieve salvation and ascend beyond this world.

Anon mused. ’This world, in exchange for its stellar cosmic energy, can limit the effects of the cosmic ruling. Due to this, much less Empyreans, even drifters who nurtured Ancestor Clouds wield power beyond a stellar fighter of the fifth world from Earth.’

’Due to the limited effects of the cosmic ruling, I can birth the unfathomable soul through the drifter cloud, and once I nurture a Primordial Cloud, my willpower will likely escape the bounds of the cosmic ruling,’ Anon smiled with a tinge of emotion in his eyes.

The black clouds swallowing his body had dispersed by now. Thereafter, the size of his Nascent Cloud began expanding across the surface area of the crimson sea.

Since the drifter cloud was a manifestation of his soul strength, it was not surprising to him that his black cloud spanned about six hundred meters.

After all, Nascent Clouds, manifested as black clouds, could be as small as several meters in diameter, or as large as six hundred meters.

The size of his Nascent Cloud revealed that he was on the cusp of nurturing a Mature Cloud.

Mature Clouds manifested in a dark purple color.

’In fact,’ Anon mused thoughtfully. ’I find it hard to believe that I can’t match a drifter that has nurtured a Mature Cloud. Yes, Ancestor-level drifters wield power beyond a fifth-worlder, but with true mastery over the spear, and body, I’m much more powerful than fourth worlders.’

The smallest Mature Cloud would be about nine hundred meters in diameter. Between six hundred and nine hundred, there was only a difference of 1/3, Anon believed this gap was elusive.

’Well anyway, I’ll know for certain against this so-called Nascent-level drifter.’ Anon concluded.

As for this opponent he would soon face, Anon found it hard to think of ways that they could possibly match up to his own self.

With the spirit suppressed in this dimension, Anon had achieved true mastery in two paths. He also had a willpower touching upon the cosmic ruling.

He really did not believe that a Nascent-level drifter could challenge him.

’However,’ Anon’s brows furrowed. ’It’s my first opponent. I can still be considered ignorant of this world, so being cautious is only natural.’

As his thoughts churned, meanwhile, his clothes dispersed into residual energy. After all, it was created by stellar cosmic energy, and in this world, that did not exist.

Luckily, the Nascent Cloud was connected to his own existence, so there was no need for him to appear before anyone with his cheeks out and his little bro exposed.

A portion of the black cloud covered most of his body and transformed into black combat wear with a high collar and long sleeves.

The cloud severing spear manifested before him.

Grabbing it, he embedded the spear into the Nascent Cloud whilst he approached the edge of the cloud in the direction it traversed the sea.

The Nascent Cloud, on the cusp of becoming a Mature Cloud, already traversed the crimson sea at around and about six hundred miles per hour.

Though his Nascent Cloud had extended to its fullest, and had locked on to a resonance with another Nascent Cloud of similar size, Anon did not appear as if he was soon to enter a battle.

After all, even if a drifter cloud resonated with another, due to the sheer size of the blood sky, it might take a great amount of time for two resonating drifter clouds to cross paths.

In fact, it was much more common to cross paths with random drifter clouds. However, once a drifter cloud was resonating with another drifter cloud, its movements could not be stopped.

’Empyreans are said to have the capabilities of suppressing the drifting cloud’s resonance,’ Anon mused thoughtfully. ’Not that I care. After all, the goal is to slaughter my way out of this place as quickly as possible.’

’Continuous slaughter will trigger the evolution of my drifter cloud. Its evolution will nurture my soul into an unfathomable one, and my will, into one that can shatter the cosmic ruling. By then, I might have a chance of successfully transcending worlds.’

’The ingredients for slaughter isn’t an issue.’

’The only issue is the corruption that this dimension will inflict onto my soul. But I experienced the corruption that the mind swallowing abyss could offer and retained clarity.’

’Even if there were some mishaps at some point, it shows that my chances are good against this dimension, right?’

Anon felt some chaotic emotions stirring within his heart. There was a subconscious feeling palpating within his very existence.

Whether it was due to the recently awakened destiny-related principle or not, Anon had an inkling that this inverted sky dimension would be unimaginably beneficial to his success on the path established by his dead mother.

Amidst his contemplations, his eyes fixated on this foreign world. According to the knowledge from the drifting cloud, this was a completely normal world at one point in time. With living inhabitants, it could be considered one of the many life-planets in the vast universe.

Like Earth. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

However, just like earth, there was something akin to an apocalypse, causing this world to transform into what it was now.

So very easily, Earth could have also transformed into something like this. Luckily, they only had a sunless blood sky.

If that had occurred, Anon would not be.

In this world, there was no copulation, no birth of newborns. There was only slaughter between the inhabitants of this world, and foreigners like Anon... or not so much like Anon.

Other foreigners were likely related to the new world order, or worse yet...

Anyway.

Anon couldn’t help but sigh.

Eventually, his drifting cloud brushed past another.

The two drifting clouds moved at rapid pace, though for Anon and likely for the creature in that drifting cloud, this speed was not exceptional.

Instinctively, he knew that this was not his opponent.

There was no resonance.

In the short moment that they had brushed paths though, Anon observed this person with intrigue.

Besides some strange markings on their face and body, there was little difference between them and a normal human.

’Maybe, this world was a human planet?’

In the vast cosmic space, Earth was not the only birthplace of humans.

The title of Human Lord was not solely for earth.

After all, Anon’s father also had the title of Earth Lord which was, obviously, the title for the lord of earth.

To become the young lord of humanity, it meant being acknowledged by the Human Lord.

In retrospect, not being acknowledged could even be seen as the Supreme Commander’s way of protecting Anon.

After all, as the young lord, Anon’s responsibilities would’ve encompassed outside just the planet earth. In that way, he would not be protected by what had been described as the Human Lord’s avatar by the purest incarnation and saints of the new world order.

Anyways, Anon’s thoughts spanned across quite a range of things as he made his way to his first opponent in this dimension.

As the drifting cloud slowed down, from a distance, another black cloud of similar size arrived within the bounds of Anon’s vision.

It was then, Anon began understanding.

Foreigners... he now understood.

Likely, these foreigners did not signify individuals from the new world order.

Logically speaking, if this dimension corrupted the soul, then why would the purest incarnation send the members of the new world order within such a dimension?

They were, in essence, humans that would fall into madness from corruption.

But creatures that were immune to corruption?

Or maybe, creatures that fed off of corruption?

What Anon saw was the old world’s biblical description of such a creature.

A humanoid body, yet sprouting large, demonic horns and cursed black wings...
