Myriad Devils-Chapter 182: The Inverted Cathedral (1/2)
The purest incarnation!
Upon laying eyes on him, Anon finally realized what it meant by, devil in human flesh.
This was the highest in command within the new world order. Though the previous guide dressed in white garments was beautiful, the perfect incarnation was...
Perfect?
If the previous guide dressed in white garments was otherworldly, then this... It must be touching upon Godly.
A perfect smile, plastered eternally across his face. Under his lips, a beauty mark that added to a touch of stunning perfection. A necklace around his neck, and an inverted cross resting on his chest, he clutched at it with gentleness and care.
When he saw Anon, his scarlet eyes immediately lit up, almost like a doting Father, a proud Father, observing his greatest creation.
Besides the saint dressed in white, the other saints who sat in the first row departed the inverted cathedral. Adorned in a black cassock, the purest incarnation sat next to Anon in the front row, whilst the saint dressed in white sat behind them.
"You can refer to Us," the purest incarnation broke the silence. "As Seth." He said this and clutched his inverted cross even tighter, glancing at Anon.
"Oh," Anon met his gaze, smiling. "Are you borrowing his name for my comfort?"
The purest incarnation... Seth’s eyes smiled.
"Borrow?" Seth chuckled lightly and pointed at the saint dressed in white with his free hand, saying to the ignorant Anon. "He, is Us. The Seth you know, is Us. We are the Great Infernal God."
Anon’s eyes widened slightly.
Though he tried to disguise his apprehension, it would be weird if Seth could not perceive his apprehension.
Seth smiled, knowingly.
’This...’ Anon sighed inwardly. ’My own destiny does not hide from my eyes. It even shows that this purest incarnation is almost a great assistance. Once I play this right. However...’
In fact, Anon’s back was soaked.
Frightened?
At his current level of strength, Anon was comfortable even against a fifth worlder. Because no matter how powerful, a fifth worlder’s strength could not break out of the cosmic ruling’s limitations.
But when it came to facing this Seth, Anon did not find it shameful to admit that he was apprehensive.
"Back then, your mother revealed your existence to Us," Seth sighed.
In a very monotone voice, he revealed things that were too shocking for Anon. "We had sought a blessing, and so, Seth Constantin came to be. The littlest one is special among the saints. Unlike the others, he did not begin as a commoner, or a servant, but was born into sainthood."
Anon almost did not care about Seth Constantin’s origin. Instead, he was more focused on the purest incarnation’s first words.
When seeing this, Seth smiled knowingly.
"She was a mysterious person, an incredible person," He praised. "She saw what even We did not see, so it came to Us as a surprise, her death."
’Dead mother,’ Anon’s heart stirred. ’She also wielded Destiny, like my current self. Against my father, was death her only destiny?’
Seth, the purest incarnation, was inherently patient and humble.
He carried the best characteristics of all the saints, and had even greater characteristics that they were yet to cultivate.
Seeing Anon lost in thought, Seth opted to remain silent.
"I am sorry," Anon came to realize this soon.
But Seth only smiled kindly.
Seeing that Anon had opened up to him slightly more than before, the perfect smile deepened with greater meaning.
"Dear Anon, We wonder." Seth’s smiling gaze met Anon’s once again. The latter almost immediately understood the former’s words.
"Indeed," Anon smiled faintly, "As I achieved true mastery over my flesh, I came to realize the great potential within the mortal flesh. Potential to become an otherworldly creature, and the presence of the trinity."
When he awakened from his sleep, he had already perceived the truth. But Seth Constantin was observing, so Anon had not dwelled on it at the time.
Seth sighed and said one word, "Explain."
"I’ve realized the trinity. The soul, containing the will, is the absolute core, and at the highest point of this trinity," Anon stated with a firm tone.
"The spirit and flesh are two nexus points that, in theory, should be capable of merger. This should be how a higher lifeform, transcending worlds, is born." Anon sighed.
Seth felt a wave of pleasure, but suppressed it, opting to confirm his thoughts first.
"You said, ’in theory’?" Seth’s tone was seemingly a puzzled one.
Anon nodded and explained, "I am unable to confirm it. I also know, to attempt the merger as I am, I will likely fail. Firstly, I’ve deduced that the spirit must be shattered and be imprinted into each cell, meaning a spirit shattered into trillions of pieces. I reckon that, only when my spirit arrives in the third world, or fourth, I can attempt this."
Seth’s heart trembled slightly.
’To deduce this much, with no prior knowledge,’ Seth mused in silence. ’Incredible.’
"More importantly, the spirit is not a physical body. It makes no sense for it to merge with each cell, hence I can deduce that my soul, which nurtured a will that allowed me to sense up to this point, is still not strong enough to sense everything." Anon said.
As Anon finished explaining his thoughts, Seth nodded and turned his gentle gaze toward a statue that detailed an indescribable scene.
He asked, disguising his true intentions, "Are you planning to enter the third world then?" Seth’s scarlet eyes shone.
Everything was for this.
Two undesirable outcomes existed. There was no choice but to choose one of the two and make sure the one that they chose was realized.
But if there could be an alteration, and a third can be created, that would be most desirable.
’Once the little lord enters the third world, it might indeed be a feasibility, our partnership. The Human Lord’s ploy will instantly be nullified, and that detestable one’s ploy as well.’ Seth’s hold on the inverted cross tightened, but he continued to observe the statue in front.
’You may act calm,’ Anon smiled inwardly, ’But entering the third world is what you desperately desire for me. Why would I?’
Though these were his thoughts, his outward expression remained thoughtful.
"No," Anon outrightly refused.
Seth sighed, but before he could speak, Anon continued, "Did ’you’ not say that there exists a way for me to jump out of the cosmic ruling’s bounds?"
These were Seth Constantin’s words at the Heaven’s Edge Domain.
"Oh," Seth’s gaze finally shifted from the statue, returning to meet with Anon’s gaze. "Do you wish to focus on your willpower?"
In reply to his words, Anon merely nodded his head.
’The Human Lord has already manipulated the outcome. To undo this, a great effort will be needed,’ Seth mused in silence.
As for the rate at which his thoughts formed?
Anon was still in the process of nodding his head whilst Seth continued to silently deduce.
’Because of the Human Lord’s manipulation, if We are to force the little lord to enter the third world, it will likely push him into attempting the merger prematurely,’ Seth grew more thoughtful.
’On the other hand, if We assist his willpower in breaking through the cosmic ruling, it allows him to perceive his own...’ As he clutched the inverted cross tighter, the speed of his deductions increased.
’Once he perceives it, the little lord will come to a natural realization as to how impossible and improbable transcending worlds with a second world spirit actually is,’ Seth concluded. ’The Human Lord has no power over destiny. He can not force others to absolutely ignore common sense in order for destiny to unfold as he wishes. So, in this way, his manipulation can be nullified.’
"This is not impossible." Seth chuckled lightly.
Anon heard his words and was visibly pleased.
His own destiny did not hide from his eyes.
It assisted him in understanding that if he were to attempt spirit, flesh unity as he was, his failure was certain.
Absolute failure!
To which, Anon had grown doubtful.
The future was ever changing, in no way should something be absolute. That is, unless something else was at work.
It was no secret to him that there were unseen hands manipulating his own fate. Upon awakening his second principle, this became even clearer.
However, there were two ways for his ascension to theoretically succeed.
One was to enter the third world or higher.
Laughably, entering the third world was the most logical way, and yet, when he asked this question in his mind, his own destiny revealed absolutely nothing.
It was as if this possibility was completely ripped away from his own destiny. In no way was it possible for him to enter the third world.
And the other?
Since he could not enter the third world, he could only continue strengthening his soul and nurturing his willpower.
In his mind, when he asked whether this path led to a successful ascension, his own destiny revealed something intriguing.
Impossible.
And yet, behind the indescribable sigils that represented an impossibility, there was an obscurity that hinted at a probability.
The soul, containing the will, was the highest point of the trinity that he perceived.
In theory, if his soul reached an unfathomable level, even if normally impossible, for Anon, and only Anon, there was a chance of success in spirit, flesh unity.
And in the purest incarnation, the opportunity for his soul to achieve such a level, resided.
His thoughts were rapid.
To Seth’s words, Anon showed a genuine smile.
Upon seeing this, the purest incarnation, Seth smiled deeply.
When seeing the two smiling at each other, the saint in white garments revealed a heartfelt smile as well.
"I beseech you for your assistance."
