Chapter 174: Seth’s confusion, the first trial

The Cinder Fiend was amused by the roaring human.

The human’s roars were in sync with the thunderous booms originating from the skies above.

The heavens thundered and crackled with lightning.

The Cinder Fiend stood on earth, observing.

Between the heavens and the earth, Jacob roared, and purple lightning raced across the skies, manifesting behind him as two majestic wings of pure lightning.

Jacob burned his spirit, summoning power beyond the constraints of the second world.

However, the Cinder Fiend felt little threat, and savored this little bit of hope that it was about to extinguish.

And then, the beast general’s heart quivered as a chilling sensation washed over it.

This sensation...

It was a strange sensation, a unique sensation, a familiar sensation.

Above the raging human, the black clouds suddenly split apart, the sky itself was visibly torn, revealing a void of blinding white...

This blinding white poured out of the void and into the real world, swallowing all beings.

.....

Jacob’s eyes were bloodshot as he descended from the heavens with unbridled determination. But, before he could clash with the Cinder Fiend, he was blinded by an unknown power.

Thereafter, a sense of weightlessness assaulted him.

The world was but a blank canvas, a white void.

There was no sense of direction.

Up, down, left, right, front, back, it was all the same. There was nothing, no ground, no ceiling, no walls.

The world was void.

Welcome.

A unique voice resounded in the void.

Seemingly sounding from all directions, Jacob could not find its origin.

"Who are you?!" Jacob’s voice was hoarse whilst he glared at his surroundings. At the same time, in his peripheral vision, a tiny orb the size of a plum materialized.

I am the Lightning Reckoning Orb, referred by the lifeforms of the Cosmic Space as the dimensional core of this Lightning Reckoning Dimension.

Hearing this, Jacob frowned.

His heartbeat was erratic, after all, he was just in the midst of a battle.

The Cinder Fiend...

Felix...!

"What is this place? No, get me out of here!" Felix’s voice reverberated in the void. "The Cinder Fiend! I was battling the Cinder Fiend. Felix is still in danger. Get me out of here. Now!"

Jacob Toppin, the Cinder Fiend is dead.

The Lightning Reckoning Orb said with an unhurried tone. Its voice was neither male nor female, and utterly calm, as if the Cinder Fiend was an insignificant ant.

As for that little cockroach, he will survive. Those with life-type principles always do.

Referring to Felix as a ’cockroach’ seemingly did not sit well with Jacob. Even if he was not usually this emotional, this entire encounter was simply too random.

Seeing this, the Lightning Reckoning Orb could not help but sigh.

That Anon is absorbing this with much more ease.

Huh? 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"A-Anon?" Jacob’s heart trembled.

For a while, he was in silence. This was simply too much, too much stimulation.

It was so shocking that he finally got a grip of himself.

"Did you say Anon? What, is he here too?" Jacob’s voice was still hoarse, however he was much calmer than before.

The Lightning Reckoning Orb nodded internally in appreciation.

Indeed. The son of the Human Lord is one of many individuals who I’ve selected from the holy land titled by the Human Lord as Earth.

"The son of the Human Lord? Anon?!" Jacob frowned deeply. This Lightning Reckoning Orb was saying too many stimulating things at such a rapid pace.

He simply could not keep up.

"Can you bring me to him? I would like to meet him." Jacob felt a tinge of anticipation well up.

Forget everything else, he left the city for this!

If you so wish to meet him, simply pass the trials. Once you become the heir to this Lightning Reckoning Dimension, all things imaginable can be achieved.

Jacob frowned upon hearing this.

"You talk really big huh, and yet you can’t even allow us to meet?" Jacob spat with disdain.

Sigh...

If only he was a little similar to the young lord.

.....

Anon stood in the darkness of the fifth layer wielding his spear. Naturally, upon devouring many cursed spirits and absorbing their memories and experiences, although he did not find any Apex-tier technique, there were many more top-tier techniques.

If one was to compare, the initial Blood Deity Staff Art was amongst the more ordinary top-tier techniques in the new world order.

Especially when comparing to the memories of those white-haired individuals.

Anon had not even absorbed everything, and yet he was already in the midst of developing another Apex-tier technique.

According to his calculations, he would be able to develop at least two Apex-tier techniques which would also deepen his insights into the spear.

Over time, even though he did not focus on it, his mastery of the staff had also deepened.

Wielding his spear in the darkness, he cut apart the purple aura of malevolence, and as his spear tore apart the purple aura, it revealed a split in the darkness, revealing a blinding light that swallowed the entire layer of the mind-swallowing abyss.

Anon disappeared.

.....

Hmm?

Seth suddenly frowned.

Sitting in a seiza position, the ends of his hair were reddening as they loosely fell onto the black sand at the bottom of the mind-swallowing abyss.

If one was to place all their attention on a single grain of sand, even a strong mind might fall into madness.

Seth did not seem to mind it though, and instead his focus was on other things.

He looked into a particular direction with doubt in his eyes.

"Why am I not sensing you?" Seth pondered, confused.

Closing his eyes, his brows furrowed whilst he thought, ’Why is blood resonance not activating? This makes no sense, unless the distance between Anon and myself is extraordinarily vast, however that wouldn’t make sense either.’

’Has Anon entered another dimension? But that makes no sense as well.’ Seth felt a growing headache.

.....

"Is that so?" Anon listened to the words of the Thunder Reckoning Orb with some amusement. As for Jacob’s presence in this trials, Anon didn’t really care.

It wasn’t that he disliked him.

Anon even found him slightly intriguing, however he was more intrigued by this Lightning Reckoning Dimension.

"So what you’re saying is that this dimension exists outside the material dimension containing the so-called Holy Land, Earth?" Anon asked.

Something like that. As you are now, it is a little difficult to explain. However, you will come to understand after completing spirit, flesh unity and transcending worlds.

Oh?

"No wonder Jacob lost it," Anon chuckled lightly as he spoke. "You’re casual using terms that I myself know nothing about. In his situation leading up to entering this dimension, having to listen to you... its an understandable crash out."

The Lightning Reckoning Orb remained silent. It did not know whether the young lord of humanity was praising it or not.

"But what do you mean by the holy land earth?" Anon asked, his voice tinged with interest.

The Holy Land, Earth. It is known by the inhabitants of the cosmic space as the birthplace of the Human Lord, and multiple members of the upper echelon of the Human Camp.

Anon furrowed his brows.

Seeing his expression the Thunder Reckoning Orb mentioned.

You’d come to know of this sooner than you think.

Sitting with one leg folded and the other hanging loosely in the void, Anon ignored the dimensional core’s words and instead asked, "So, what exactly does this trial entail? Shouldn’t you not waste time, lest my competitors gain an advantage?"

Something developed by a dimensional core would not have such loopholes. The Lightning Reckoning Orb boasted.

Well, the trials itself doesn’t have loopholes for those like Jacob who wield lightning based principles. But... It’s voice trailed as it corrected its previous statement.

"Is that so." Anon smiled.

As for this trial. It simply tests the participant’s comprehension. Naturally, it would help if one was a wielder of a lightning principle.

"Oh?" Anon rose an eyebrow. "And how does it go about testing my comprehension?"

Go ahead and break out of this caged space.

Saying this, the dimensional core released a buzzing sound before disappearing. The void trembled before the world began shifting.

Anon observed with amusement as his surroundings took up the appearance of a cage in a complex shape. The expansive void was no more as he found himself within a restricted space with a ground, and four slanted walls.

"Attack?" Anon smiled and punched one of the walls.

The wall instantly absorbed his punch, revealing a glowing pattern that disappeared almost instantly after.

Silence.

Nothing changed.

Anon frowned and punched once more, this time going all out.

However, as his fist landed against the wall, the overwhelming force contained within his fist was easily absorbed by the wall once more.

The glowing patterns appeared, and once again disappeared in a flash.

Tsk!

Anon cursed under his breath.

"That dimensional core really left no hints whatsoever, and disappeared." Anon scowled, and grasped the air.

Wielding the cloud severing spear, he attacked the wall with ferocity, focusing on the only thing that was unusual, the glowing patterns that disappeared in a flash.
