Myriad Devils-Chapter 173: Burning spirit, shattering material...
The Blood-Drip Jungle, as one of the seven danger zones of the Victorious Fighting Country, was naturally vast and filled with mysteries. Especially for individuals below the fourth world, this was a place filled with life-threatening calamities, and opportunities as well.
The duo, Felix and Jacob, did not stop at the golden ape beast general. Their pursuit for resources fueled them to venture deeper into the forest. Facing a myriad of beast generals, on more than one occasion, the duo acquired unique treasures.
Finally, through resources and repeated life-and-death collisions, Felix stepped into the third layer of the second world.
.....
The night sky still had a strange hue coating it. The power that the Human Lord wielded was a mystery to the inhabitants of earth.
It is said that even the otherworldly knights struggled to comprehend it, and only the human generals had an idea.
Jacob sat atop a branch.
The blood color of the leaves was so thick it seemed to condense into droplets of blood that fell, shimmering under the faint light of the night sky.
There was no sun and moon on earth.
Observing the skies, Jacob’s eyes showed yearning.
’Currently, father is somewhere far away, in the vastness of the cosmic space,’ Jacob mused. ’He once said that the flow of time in the cosmic space flows much more rapidly than on earth.’
’In the vast cosmic space, there are countless species and civilizations.’
’It is difficult to establish oneself, and though there are many opportunities, there are even more calamities.’
’Fortuitous encounters were likelier to be calamities waiting to be triggered.’
Jacob smiled faintly.
Retracting his gaze from the night sky, he glanced at the figure at rest on another tree branch, and the faint smile grew slightly wider.
’Comparatively speaking, Felix’s previous situation can only be considered as a minor matter.’
As he thought this, a wave of calmness washed over his heart.
For a time, the world had grown silent.
Jacob’s thumping heart slowly spread into the near vicinity.
Hmm?
’Why is it suddenly so quiet?’ Jacob wondered.
Then, a bead of sweat trickled down his forehead, between his eyebrows, and to his nose bridge.
Without realizing, his entire back was filled with sweat.
’Why is it suddenly so hot?’ Jacob felt something amiss, so he slowly turned around.
Then, he saw it.
Who knew for how long...
The nearby trees did not dare to sway with the winds, and even the winds did not dare to trespass in this area.
Though it was so tall that these trees only reached its waist, the Cinder Fiend had quietly squatted down, bringing its eyes to Jacob’s level.
The Cinder Fiend’s eyes shone with a blinding brilliance...
When Jacob’s gaze met with the Cinder Fiend’s gaze, there was a period where he did not feel anything.
His heart did not thump erratically.
He did not even feel any fear.
There was only a numbness.
This was the unflinching, unfeeling, unnerving coldness of death.
The deathly aura washed over his soul, momentarily freezing his mind.
He had froze up.
Internally, he screamed.
Move!
Move!!
Move!!!
Light also contained the properties of a speed-type principle. Compared to lightning, it was even more aligned with speed.
Luckily, the Cinder Fiend had greater affinity for fire. Only through flames could this attack garner some light-based properties.
Two fiery beams escaped the Cinder Fiend’s eyes, annihilating anything and everything it touched.
Even before coming in contact with the trees, they ignited. These two beams inched closer and closer toward a streak of purple lightning.
This streak buzzed through space as it transformed into a humanoid figure, picking up the fast asleep Felix, before once again transforming into a streak of lightning.
Over a hundred meters away, Jacob reverted to his usual self, with Felix fast alert. The duo stared in utter terror at the line of destruction that spanned into the horizon.
A straight line spanning at least a dozen miles, eradicating unlucky beast soldiers, beast commanders, and beast generals alike.
The Cinder Fiend opened its mouth.
Once upon a time, it saw two weak humans and decided to play with them.
Then, a human more powerful than anything it had crossed paths with appeared. The Cinder Fiend did not know when it had been defeated.
This time, it was sure to kill this pair of weak ones before the strong one could appear.
Several miniature suns suddenly littered the night skies, reversing night and day. Jacob immediately pushed Felix down to the earth, whilst he actively grabbed the Cinder Fiend’s attention.
The miniature suns caused space to twist and warp, folding distance as it appeared before Jacob in the blink of an eye.
A buzzing sound spread out, followed by a thunder clap!
Then were the sounds of the exploding suns.
Jacob appeared before the Cinder Fiend with an unsheathed sword. Countless streaks of lightning raced across the face of his sword’s blade.

A sword light tore apart space, leaving traces of crackling lightning in its wake.
A large grin appeared on the Cinder Fiend’s face.
This weak one seemed slightly more entertaining than the previous two who ran with their tails tucked between their legs.
Exhaling, a sea of flames escaped its nostrils, rushing towards the incoming sword light.
Meanwhile, Felix’s body transformed into a hulking giant as he launched towards the gigantic beast general battling Jacob.
The duo united.
Separating the Cinder Fiend’s magical and physical attacks, Jacob and Felix worked in unison.
.....
Jacob and Felix worked in perfect unison.
However, it took around a minute for the surroundings miles to be reduced to nothing more than a scorched wasteland.
Felix’s battered and bruised body constantly attempted to heal, however the burning flames prevented him from healing, and even worse, caused his wounds to worsen overtime.
He had already reached his limit.
At the same time, Jacob’s sword was embedded into the charred earth whilst he tried to hold up his half-kneeling figure.
His upper body and arms were scorched and charred. Worse yet, his face was disfigured, with half of it melted away, showing muscle, bone, and teeth.
Unlike Felix, he did not have superior regeneration. In fact, his regenerative capabilities were quite average amongst stellar fighters.
These injuries, though not nearly as bad as Felix’s, for him, it was truly dancing on the edge.
Knowing this, Felix, who suffered worsening injuries, gritted his teeth and slowly rose to his feet, stumbling his way toward the humanoid titan swallowed in burning flames.
The scorched earth beneath Felix’s feet shattered under an intense force as he suddenly burst forth with speed.
At the same time, the Cinder Fiend towered over the duo, standing above and beyond any other beast general.
Its eyes shone with luster, focusing on Jacob as two rays of fiery beams shot out of them!
However their path was blocked mid-way by a hulking figure.
Jacob’s teeth cracked under the pressure of his clenching jaw.
Before his gaze, Felix’s figure stood high in the air, with the Cinder Fiend watching down at the two with contempt.
The two fiery beams burned everything, including Felix...
Space trembled as lightning crackled.
Clouds converged in the night sky as thunder rumbled.
Felix’s body, swallowed in flames, limply fell to the ground with a thud.
Both arms had been reduced to ashes, and his right leg was eradicated from the waist, whilst his left had nothing from his knee go down.
Felix’s chest and abdomen had a gaping hole as the flames consumed what remained of him, only making the sight even more unbearable.
"Ahh!... Arghhhh!"
And then came his pained growls.
His body, swallowed in flames, wriggled on the ground, but he had no hands to clutch his head in pain.
Jacob saw this, and his eyes lost their shine.
The streaks of purple lightning in the depths of his eyes dissipated.
High above, the gathering clouds began dispersing and the concentration of lightning grew silent.
But before the thunder in the sky could fade away, the Cinder Fiend stepped toward the wailing Felix, attempting to stomp on his soon-to-be corpse.
Certain death!
Toward Felix’s inevitable end, he could not stand it.
The lightning in the depths of Jacob’s eyes emerged once more.
In his perspective, the world shattered like glass.
"N-No... No, you can’t do that." Jacob’s voice was shaky in the beginning, but it became firm immediately after.
"I won’t let you!"
As these words fell, the night skies lit up with a blinding purple lightning.
Under the Cinder Fiend’s amused gaze, Jacob transformed into a streak of purple lightning that blitzed across the battlefield in a zig-zag manner.
It picked up Felix’s body, and it evaded falling meteors swallowed in flames.
Felix’s body was ablaze, however he was over a dozen miles away from the clash. At this time, the streak of lightning scaled toward the dark heavens.
The Cinder Fiend lifted its gaze, meeting the streak of lightning as it reverted to Jacob’s figure, gripping his sword.

.....
Observing the legendary Holy Land of the Human Lord for some time, it was utterly pleased by what it was seeing.
The Lightning Reckoning Orb was dazzled by the son of the Human Lord, however it was the companion of the Human Lord’s son that resonated with the Lightning Reckoning Dimension.
The destined child has awakened.
The time for the successor trials has arrived.
