My Young Husband, The Assasin-Chapter 70: Tetsuya’s hidden truth and Renji’s decision
Chapter 70 - Tetsuya's hidden truth and Renji's decision
"I found out about it from Tetsuya," Tsuchihebi casually revealed.
"Don't try to fool me, old man. There's no way Tetsuya would tell you something this important," Renji refused to believe Tsuchihebi's words.
"He didn't tell me, but I heard it myself—straight from Tetsuya's mouth," Tsuchihebi stated honestly. This time, he wasn't lying or making up a story.

"Do you have any proof of what you're saying?" Renji challenged.
"Of course," Tsuchihebi replied confidently.
Unbeknownst to Tetsuya and his subordinates, Tsuchihebi had secretly planted a listening device in the room where Tetsuya was resting. His instincts told him that something was going on, and since he knew he wouldn't get answers by asking directly, he decided to find out the truth in his way.
The recorded conversation between Tetsuya and Torune, Hiroshi Okada's bodyguard, was played aloud. In their discussion, Tetsuya talked about his plan to attack Hiroshi's headquarters because he had discovered that the mastermind behind all the misfortunes befalling the Ishikawa family was none other than Hiroshi Okada.
Learning that Tetsuya had managed to turn Torune against his own master and make him work for him shocked Renji beyond belief. He was both stunned and impressed that his cousin had gone to such lengths to gather information. However, that wasn't the only surprise. Tsuchihebi had also managed to duplicate Torune's report and decipher the secret codes that Shin had sent—right before Tetsuya burned them to destroy the evidence.
"I'm sure you're shocked to hear that Torune is working for Tetsuya. I was, too. But after reading this report, you'll be even more shocked and will want to kill that old bastard Hiroshi right this second," Tsuchihebi said as he handed over a copy of Tetsuya's secret documents to Renji.
Barely a minute into reading, Renji's hands clenched the paper so tightly that it crumpled in his grip, his fury boiling over. Tsuchihebi had been right—Renji's rage was evident in the bulging veins on his neck.
At this moment, Tsuchihebi had become the most important person in Renji's battle for answers. Like it or not, Renji had to thank him—and also apologize for his earlier rudeness.
"Calm your emotions, Renji. Remember, your wife and child are here. You wouldn't want to scare your wife to tears by acting like this, would you?" Tsuchihebi warned.
At that instant, Renji's anger slightly subsided as he thought of his wife and child. He took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly.
Understanding her husband's turmoil, Aira gently rubbed Renji's back, soothing him. And it worked.
"Hey, Renji," Tsuchihebi suddenly called out coldly. Renji shot him a flat look filled with questions.
"Did you know that Tetsuya is dying?" Tsuchihebi revealed a shocking secret.
"Dying?" Renji repeated in confusion.
Aya's face instantly darkened with fury. "Honey!" she shouted angrily.
Thanks to Tsuchihebi's careless words, the couple started arguing fiercely, with Renji, Aira, and Fujita silently watching. None of them had the slightest intention of interfering—especially Renji, who knew all too well how fierce Aya could be. It was better to stay out of trouble.
"Regardless, the kid needs to know about Tetsuya's condition," Tsuchihebi defended himself. Renji was Tetsuya's family—he had the right to know.
"But I promised Tetsuya I wouldn't tell anyone," Aya groaned, bound by her oath as a doctor.
"In this matter, you are not at fault because I was the one who told Renji about it. This has nothing to do with you."
"Even so, you're still wrong!" Aya snapped in frustration.
"No. I'm not wrong, dear. In fact, continuing to hide the truth is the real mistake," Tsuchihebi insisted, refusing to take the blame or place it on Aya.
Aya's head throbbed as she watched her husband's stubbornness. Besides, how did he even know about Tetsuya's condition? She had never told him anything about it. The only explanation was that Tsuchihebi had hacked the hospital's computer system. At this point, there was nothing left to hide—Aya had no choice but to tell Renji everything.
"Tetsuya only has three months left to live," Aya finally revealed as his doctor.
Everyone, except for Tsuchihebi, was shocked. Aira even burst into tears, devastated to learn that her brother-in-law had so little time left. So, all this time, Tetsuya had been acting as if he was fine, while in reality, he was suffering from his illness.
"That's impossible... He's always seemed perfectly fine," Renji said, still in disbelief.
"Tetsuya is very good at hiding things," Tsuchihebi remarked, already familiar with Tetsuya's nature—it was quite similar to Renji's.
Renji fell into silence, unable to say anything. But guilt immediately filled his heart. He had never truly paid attention to Tetsuya, and he was too focused on his own small family. He had forgotten that Tetsuya was also part of his family.
"Renji-kun," Aira murmured.
"Judging by your reaction, it's clear that Tetsuya kept this a secret from you," Tsuchihebi said, his voice tinged with sadness.
"That's right. Young Master Tetsuya never spoke about his condition," Fujita confirmed on Renji's behalf.
Tsuchihebi and Aya felt sorrowful as well, but they understood why Tetsuya had done it. He didn't want to make anyone worry or be saddened by his inevitable fate.
No wonder Tetsuya had recklessly attacked Hiroshi Okada—he knew he was going to die soon. To him, whether he died a few months later or now, it made no difference.
"From the very beginning, Tetsuya planned to sacrifice himself for you and your family, Renji," Tsuchihebi voiced his thoughts after analyzing the situation.
Renji said nothing. His head lowered, his expression filled with sorrow and despair. He felt utterly useless. All this time, he had believed he was doing everything to protect his family. Still, in truth, it was Tetsuya who had been fighting and sacrificing everything for him.
Honestly, it wasn't just Renji—Aira, too, felt heartbroken and guilty. Tetsuya had been willing to give up his own life for them.
Aira reached out and pulled Renji into her embrace. "Please... leave us alone," she requested, her face filled with sadness as she asked for some time alone with her husband.
Without a word, Aya exited the room, pulling Tsuchihebi along with her while Fujita followed closely behind.
The moment the door clicked shut, Aira could feel her shoulder growing damp with Renji's tears. His entire body trembled as he sobbed.
"I'm so useless," Renji choked out, blaming himself.
For so long, he had believed he had done so much for the Ishikawa family—made sacrifices and endured hardships. But he had been wrong. How arrogant and self-centred he had been to think he had done everything, when in reality, without Tetsuya by his side, he might never have escaped the underworld, broken free from Kaito's grip, married Aira, or built a peaceful life with his family. Tetsuya had done so much for him.
"What should I do, honey?" Renji hugged Aira tightly as she continued to cry.
At this moment, Aira was faced with a difficult and heavy choice, but she had to make a decision, and she would never regret it, no matter the risks.
"Go, Renji-kun. Save Tetsuya because, no matter what, he is also part of our family," Aira said firmly, trying hard not to cry, knowing it would only deepen Renji's sorrow.
Renji's embrace tightened, and he kissed Aira's head. "Wait here with our child," he whispered.
"Okay," Aira replied, her eyes glistening with tears.
Releasing his embrace, Renji gently caressed his wife's beautiful face and forced a small smile, trying to appear strong. "I promise I'll come back safely," he said, looking at Aira with deep affection.
"You must. You must come back safely because our child and I will be waiting for you," Aira said, tears streaming down her cheeks as she tried to hold back her sobs. Despite her efforts to stay strong, Aira's defences eventually crumbled.
"Sob~" Aira whimpered, staring blankly at Renji, who gave her a small smile.
Aira realized the heavy burden on Renji's shoulders as a leader and the great risks that came with his work. However, she never imagined that this day would come—when Renji would have to leave her and their child to go to the battlefield.
Aira had just given birth, and the pain from the surgical incision on her stomach was still fresh. Yet, her heart had to endure another kind of pain as Renji prepared to leave her.
She didn't know if Renji would return safely, unharmed, or if he would come back lifeless. The thought of losing Renji was unbearable, and she couldn't bear the idea of their child growing up without a father's love. However, Aira couldn't be selfish and sacrifice someone else for her happiness. She didn't want to be that kind of person, especially since Tetsuya was also part of their family with Renji.
Leaning forward, Renji kissed Aira's forehead tenderly. "I'm leaving, my wife," he whispered sadly, saying his goodbye.
Not to forget, Renji also kissed Ryuzaki's whole face with love and sorrow at the thought of leaving him behind. "Be good, little hero," he reminded him to himself, tears welling up in his eyes.
Having said his goodbyes, Renji left behind his wife and child with unyielding determination. He knew Aira would be understanding and willing to accept his decision, no matter how tough it was. He had to go and save Tetsuya to stop his cousin from sacrificing himself.
"How about it, Renji?" Tsuchihebi asked curiously shortly after he stepped out.
"I'm going to stop that fool from sacrificing himself," Renji answered, revealing his plan.
"Good decision," Tsuchihebi said with a pleased smile.
"While I'm gone, please protect and watch over them," Renji pleaded, as the couple were the only ones he could trust with this task.
"Don't worry, we'll protect your wife and child with all our strength," Aya assured him.
"Thank you."
"You should go by helicopter."
"Is that Tetsuya's?" Renji asked, knowing that Tsuchihebi didn't own one—not because he couldn't afford it, but because Aya always forbade it.
"That's right. I borrowed it some time ago and forgot to return it," Tsuchihebi admitted, not denying it or claiming the helicopter as his own.
"That's not borrowing; that's just taking," Renji scoffed. Tsuchihebi chuckled softly while Aya shook her head and covered her face, embarrassed by Tsuchihebi's shameless behaviour.
Accompanied by Fujita, the two of them headed to the helipad located behind the laboratory after Tsuchihebi handed the keys to Renji.
"Fujita, order everyone to gather and inform them that we are going to war. Tell them to prepare themselves because all of us may return alive," Renji said coldly, filled with anger.
"Understood, Young Master," Fujita replied, then started the helicopter's engine.
After a long time of hanging up his sword and refusing to kill, today Renji had no choice but to unsheathe his legendary katana, a sword famous among many. This ancestral sword of the Ishikawa family had taken the lives of hundreds, yet its blade had never dulled. Instead, it seemed to grow sharper, as if the blood of its victims honed its edge.
Renji and Fujita left the laboratory, heading to the Hayabusa group's main headquarters using Tetsuya's helicopter, which had been stored at Tsuchihebi's laboratory all this time. Renji had asked several times about the helicopter's whereabouts, as it was nowhere to be seen in the parking area on the rooftop of Tetsuya's apartment building.
Aside from being an excellent driver, Fujita was also skilled at operating a helicopter. This wasn't surprising, considering Fujita was a former elite military member who could pilot fighter jets. Flying a helicopter was no big deal for him.
As instructed by their leader, all members of the Hayabusa group gathered at the main headquarters after being contacted by Fujita. Finally, after a long time without a large meeting, all the members of the Hayabusa group assembled today. Whenever they were called to gather, it meant something big was about to happen—likely a clash between groups. This was something they always looked forward to, as it was a chance to showcase their abilities in front of Renji.
It only took fifteen minutes for Renji and Fujita to reach the Hayabusa group's main headquarters. Shortly after arriving, Renji changed his clothes and took up his sword, which he hadn't used in a long time.
Don't blame Renji if today he arrives as the angel of death for Hiroshi and all his men.
"Wait for my arrival, Hiroshi Okada."
