Chapter 69 - Aira and Renji’s fight for family

Since deciding to marry Renji, Aira has actually prepared herself both mentally and physically, especially after Renji has revealed his true identity and the Ishikawa family. This made Aira realize one thing: the married life she would share with Renji would not be like that of ordinary people. Besides Renji, who was still a high school student in his teens, he was also the leader of a major underworld group called Hayabusha.

When Aira first heard Renji's confession, she was naturally quite shocked. She had never expected that the young man she married was no ordinary person. No wonder he could afford to buy the café where Aira worked at such a high price. Although Aira felt fear and surprise at the time, she ultimately chose to accept Renji completely, no matter who he was or how dark his past might be.

Aira would continue to love Renji forever because his honesty about his true identity and his past proved that he truly trusted her and was not hiding anything from her. This genuinely made Aira happy, as she felt fully accepted by Renji, with no more secrets between them.

Aira had once felt anxious about her safety, especially concerning the child in her womb, due to Renji's line of work. However, she was confident that Renji would do everything in his power to protect her and their child. That was until the attack by Renji's grandfather, which left Aira terrified—not for her own life, but for the fear that something might happen to their child. If anything bad were to happen to their child, Renji would surely be devastated, blame himself, and ultimately sink back into the underworld.

Aira did not want that to happen, so she fought with all her might to survive. Not only did she want to see the face of the man she loved, but she also wanted to hold their child, the fruit of her love with Renji.

Fortunately, God still gave her the chance to live and be with her loved ones. However, Aira's happiness did not last long, as problems arose due to the aftermath of Kaito's attack on her.

Just two days after being hospitalized for post-cesarean care, Renji, her husband, suddenly carried her out of the hospital room, followed by Fujita, who brought along Ryuzaki, who was sound asleep in his baby crib. Not a single word came from Renji, but his arms held Aira tightly.

Seeing the situation, Aira realized that something had happened, and it was no small matter. It was clear from the look of anxiety and fear on Renji's face. Dr. Aya, who had helped them escape the hospital, drove the car they were in toward a forest near the mountains, far from the city.

There was nothing Aira could do but pray in her heart to God, hoping that nothing bad would happen to her family and friends.

A large, dome-like structure stood firmly in the middle of the forest near the mountains. No one would have guessed that a place like this housed a magnificent and advanced laboratory owned by a professor of chemistry and botany named Tsuchihebi, Renji's former business partner.

After arriving and stepping out of the car, Renji hurriedly walked through the corridors of the laboratory, carrying Aira, who was holding their child. Behind Renji, Fujita followed closely. Guided by Aya, they were all led to a room where Tsuchihebi was already standing as if he had been expecting their arrival.

When the entrance door opened, Tsuchihebi approached with a wide smile. "Long time no see, Renji. And welcome to my place," he greeted warmly, welcoming Renji and the others.

Renji's eyes stared coldly, matching the expression on his face as he looked at the snake-loving man. Tsuchihebi chuckled softly at Renji's cold reaction.

The blonde woman in front of Renji sighed softly. "No need for small talk, my dear," Aya scolded with a frown, still wearing her doctor's uniform.

Tsuchihebi's gaze shifted to the beautiful woman with golden hair, and he flashed a teasing smile. "Don't get angry, or you'll get more wrinkles on your face," he teased at the most inappropriate time.

At that moment, Aya felt like hitting her husband's head but held back. However, that didn't mean he would escape punishment—wait until they got home.

"Hurry up and take them all inside," Aya said through gritted teeth, trying to suppress her anger.

"Yuki," Tsuchihebi called out to one of the laboratory staff on duty.

"Yes, Professor? What is it?" Yuki asked as she approached.

"Please escort them all to the resting room at the end of that corridor," he ordered firmly.

"Understood," Yuki replied obediently.

Tsuchihebi glanced back at Aya and then flinched in surprise. "Yuki will guide you," he said, sighing softly as he looked nervously at Aya, who now resembled an angel of death.

If things continued like this, Tsuchihebi would surely be scolded severely by his wife for mentioning her wrinkles.

Once again, Tsuchihebi would have to sleep outside, hugging a pillow, even though he wanted to cuddle and catch up after almost a month apart.

"Thank you, Mr. Tsuchihebi," Fujita said gratefully on behalf of Renji, who was reluctant to speak but still felt annoyed.

Renji's lingering resentment wasn't without reason. In the past, Tsuchihebi had once used him as a test subject without his knowledge. Tsuchihebi had given him a drug he was developing—a painkiller that would supposedly make someone feel no pain even if their hand was cut off.

However, what he gave Renji was actually a stamina-enhancing drug for the bedroom. As a result, Renji suffered immensely, trying to suppress his sudden surge of libido. Fortunately, no one was around at the time, or things could have gotten out of hand.

The effects of the drug lasted for over six hours, forcing Renji to sit under a cold shower to cool both his mind and body. When Tsuchihebi realized he had given the wrong drug, instead of apologizing, he laughed at Renji's misery. At the time, the pain Renji felt was worse than being slashed by a sword.

"That kid is still mad at me," Tsuchihebi muttered, feeling a little sad that Renji hadn't greeted him, even though it had been a long time since they last met or talked.

Aya gave him a sidelong glance. "Have you even apologized to him?" she asked sharply, knowing the root of the problem.

"Apologize for what?" Tsuchihebi retorted, feeling he had done nothing wrong to Renji, completely forgetting the incident that happened two years ago in his private laboratory.

"Because you gave him the wrong medicine," Aya replied sharply, answering Tsuchihebi's confusion with a raised voice.

"That wasn't my fault. He was the one who picked up the wrong bottle," Tsuchihebi defended himself, refusing to take responsibility for his negligence in giving Renji the wrong drug.

Aya Himura sighed softly and shook her head, responding to her stubborn husband, who refused to admit his mistake and instead blamed others.

"Whatever!" Aya snorted as she walked away, leaving Tsuchihebi behind. She was still upset about being told her face was wrinkled despite all the skincare treatments she had undergone to maintain her youthful and firm complexion. It seemed her efforts were wasted in Tsuchihebi's eyes.

"Wait! Don't leave me, my wife!" Tsuchihebi called out, chasing after her.

Aya quickened her pace, not wanting to be caught. When things got like this, Tsuchihebi would resort to his ultimate flirting techniques, honed from years of practice.

Not long after arriving at the resting room, Aya came to check on Aira's condition. Aira's body was still weak and required intensive care. The wound from the surgical incision on her stomach hadn't fully healed, but thanks to the medicine concocted by Tsuchihebi, the wound was beginning to dry and no longer felt painful. For the time being, Aira and her baby would be cared for here under the supervision of Aya, an experienced doctor, and Tsuchihebi, the medicine expert. This arrangement allowed Renji to feel at ease, entrusting Aira's care to the two of them.

"Any news from Tetsuya?" Renji asked anxiously, waiting for a report from his subordinates, which had yet to yield any results.

"Not yet. Young Master Tetsuya works very meticulously, making it difficult for me to track him," Fujita explained.

Renji sighed softly. "Of course, since he knows exactly how your group works. No surprise that you can't get information," Renji said, showing his thorough understanding of Tetsuya.

In good faith, Renji was at a loss, unable to obtain any leads. Tetsuya's investigative procedures were so strict and well-organized that Renji was not able to find even the smallest gap to obtain information or discover the current status. It was as if Tetsuya wanted to do everything on his own.

"Young Master, may I ask you something?" Fujita suddenly asked, filled with curiosity.

"Is it about who contacted me earlier?" Renji guessed, already knowing what his assistant was about to ask.

"Yes," Fujita looked at Renji with a questioning gaze. "Who was that person, Young Master?"

"That person was me," said a man with long, waist-length black hair, none other than the owner of this secret laboratory, Tsuchihebi.

Fujita's eyes widened in shock and disbelief at what he was seeing and hearing. As far as he knew, the middle-aged man obsessed with science had distanced himself from the underworld after the fire incident that nearly cost him his life.

"Mr. Tsuchihebi?!" Fujita exclaimed in disbelief.

"It's true. He was the one who contacted me earlier and informed me that Grandfather's men were on their way to the hospital to kidnap Aira and Ryuzaki," Renji explained, helping Fujita understand a bit more.

Renji's gaze turned scrutinizing. "How did you know that Grandfather's men planned to kidnap my wife and child?"

Tsuchihebi glanced at the woman beside Renji. "I'll tell you, but not here."

"Say it here. I don't want to keep any secrets from my wife," Renji insisted.

Tsuchihebi was both surprised and impressed by Renji's words. "Are you sure?"

"Of course. I don't want to lose my wife's trust so that I won't hide anything from her."

"Honestly, it's unexpected that someone as cold as you could say something like that."

"Enough with the small talk. Just tell me what you know."

"Alright, I'll explain where I got the information," Tsuchihebi said, sitting down beside Aya, who had just finished checking on Aira and her baby.

Aside from Renji, everyone in the room was curious about Tsuchihebi's information.

"I found out from Tetsuya," Tsuchihebi revealed casually.
