Chapter 86: Watching The Stars

"Why here?" She asked.

Caden glanced at her playfully.

"This is a perfect place. Where do you want to do it?" He teased.

Her cheeks felt warm as her heart pounded at his casual remark.

"Well, t-this is a school. Someone might come in." She stuttered.

Caden smiled. "No one will come. Trust me. Come here."

He dragged her further inside the room and guided her to one of the seats.

She thought it was the science room, but it was the school’s planetarium where you can go see what the night sky looks like.

It was a large room with a dome-shaped ceiling and many seats. A special projector in this room could shine images on the domed ceiling and show you the stars and other objects in the night sky.

Her heart was beating so fast, and she felt excited when Caden reclined her seat. His silver eyes sparkled as he stared at her face. She closed her eyes when Caden started getting closer. But what she anticipated didn’t actually happen.

She peeked at him with her one eye still shut, and Caden was teasingly smiling at her.

"What are you thinking?" He chuckled.

She frowned. "W-What do you mean?"

"You’re thinking something naughty again." He laughed.

She looked at him with annoyance. Then she pushed him and stood up to leave the room. But he quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her back into the chair.

"Hey, I’m sorry. Don’t go."

"You’re only making fun of me!" She exclaimed.

"No. I’m just amused. Don’t get mad, please. I want to show you something." He pleaded.

She pouted and then took a deep breath.

"Fine! But if this is just one of your jokes, I’ll leave right away."

Caden nodded and sweetly smiled at her. She rolled her eyes and went back to her seat. He gently kissed her on the forehead before reclining his chair.

"I promise. This is much better. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time." He mumbled.

"What? Sit on a reclining chair." She said with a heavy sarcasm.

But Caden ignored her. Then the room went dark after he pressed a button on the remote control.

"This." He said.

Her eyes widened when small glittering stars appeared on the ceiling. It wasn’t just a few, but hundreds of them. Her heart pounded when it started twinkling, as if she was staring at the night sky.

"Do you like it?" He asked.

She nodded. "I love it, Caden."

He smiled. "I wanted to watch the stars with you. Back in Flousia, I always stare at the stars and the moon before I sleep. I wondered if you were staring at them and I imagined watching it with you."

"I did watch them. When I came back from Flousia, I always get a nightmare so I look at the stars and count them." She giggled, remembering the times she did it to forget her bad dreams.

"Did it help? Were you able to fall a sleep?" He asked, curiosity piqued.

She nodded. "When I look at them, I felt like you were staring at me. They were like your eyes when they sparkle."

Caden chuckled. "I’m glad. Because I also felt the same."

"It’s breathtaking." She commented.

He smiled and then turned to her. "Yes, you are."

She turned to face him. "I forgive you. This is indeed much better."

"I told you. You’re very anxious about today, so I wanted you to relax and forget about it for a while."

"Thank you." She smiled.

They continued to watch the stars, the moon, and the planets. It was like they were in space, traveling around the universe and at the same time learning about it.

Caden held her hand and didn’t let go of it while they watched the show. Her face was dazzled with happiness and her heart was suddenly singing.

"My room in Flousia was walled with glass. They covered it with a blackout curtain, but at night, I made sure it’s open to see the stars. I called them and requested for your room to be like mine." He said.

She was surprised. "I have my own room?"

Caden flicked a little smile at her. "Of course. I made them prepare the room one next to mine. Once we arrive, we will need to present ourselves in front of the King and Queen to greet them. Then you’ll meet with the royal council. They will assign a group of servants for you."

"Servants? Not just one, but a group of them? Like how many?" She asked.

"You’ll be attended by ten servants and they will follow you around. They will stay outside your door with a group of royal guards." Caden casually answered.

"Isn’t that a little overdramatic? I don’t think I need a lot of servants and guards." She frowned.

Caden sighed. "That’s the reason I told you. It’s tradition. And there’s one more."

"What?"

"Well, we won’t be sleeping in the same room. Unless we’re going to, you know, make love." He said.

Her heart was suddenly flooded with disappointment. She didn’t expect Flousia had that kind of tradition.

"That’s ridiculous! We’ll get married and become husband and wife. Why can’t we sleep in the same bed?"

He took another deep breath. "Because they said, one of the previous king was murdered by his wife."

"I can’t believe it. Do you think I am capable of killing you?" She exclaimed.

"Hey calm down. We’re here to relax. And that’s also one of the things I want to change in Flousia. The current queen, Aunt Emily, broke the tradition when she was the crown princess. I thought they changed it, but it was temporary. They wanted to bring back that tradition to us."

Her eyes widened with interest. "Really? She did? So can I also do that?"

A smile of baffled amusement was written on Caden’s face as he looked at her.

"Yes. I want you to show them what Alira Eleanor Wilson can do. I saw a lot of traditions in Flousia particularly with the royal family. And I want you to also look at it and see if what we can do to change it." He said.

"Why do you want to change it?" She asked.

"For our future children. I want them to grow up in a peaceful and loving environment. Our son will inherit the throne, so I want to make sure that everything is perfect before it happens."

She flashed a smile at him. "And how do you know our first will be a boy?"

"I didn’t say it will be our first. In Flousia, it doesn’t matter if the heir is a firstborn or not. As long as everyone approved of who it is. Like what happened to me. I’m just the King’s nephew, but they chose me."

"I think you’re the best choice. You’ll be a great king." She complimented him.

Caden chuckled. "Sometimes, I still doubt myself. Maybe I’m better as the Boss of the Forelli Clan, rather than being the crown prince."

"Why do you doubt yourself? You think about Flousia and its future. You care about your family and Flousia’s people. You don’t care what happens to you as long as everyone is safe. You are a good leader and a heart of a survivor. Those are qualities of a king."

A faint smile played across Caden’s lips. "It’s not the qualities of a king. Those are traits of a desperate boy to save everyone."

She shook her head. "No, it’s not. What I’m looking at is a man with honor and compassion. Don’t ever doubt yourself. You must believe in your future queen."

Caden widely smiled. "I trust you, and I believe every word you say."

She smiled back and turned at the ceiling again. "Look! A wishing star! Let’s make a wish."

Caden didn’t take his eyes off her when she closed her eyes. He stared at her, lovingly and gently.

"What did you wish?" He asked.

"It’s a secret. I’ll tell when it happens." She giggled. "What about you? Did you wish for something?"

He nodded his head. "I can’t wish for anything else, but for everyone to be safe. Especially you." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"You don’t have a wish for yourself." She asked.

He shook his head. "You’re here with me. You are my wish."

She blushed, and her heart fluttered. She was too happy, and she wanted Caden to know her feelings at the moment.

"I love you, Caden. I will always be here for you. I will stay by your side forever." She said before crossing the space between their faces.

She was unsure if Caden would answer her kiss, but he did. She began moving her lips and parted them so his tongue could invade the inside of her mouth.

She couldn’t take it any longer, so she moved from her seat to his lap, straddling him. He grabbed her waist, pulling her body closer to him as they continued to kiss passionately.
