Chapter 77: Confrontation

Two hours passed, but Caden was still sleeping, so she decided to tour around Willow Green. Phoenix and the other girls were outside Caden’s room, waiting for him to wake up. If she didn’t know them, she would think that the girls were part of a harem. Caden’s harem.

She scolded herself for having that thought. She smiled and greeted them.

"Is boss okay?" Cleo asked.

She nodded. "He’s still sleeping. I just want to look around and hopefully talk to the men?"

The girls glanced at each other. "They’re pretty exhausted and starving. The cook was knocked out yesterday and couldn’t make a meal for us."

"And what about you?" She asked.

The girls’ faces blushed.

"We don’t know how to cook delicious meals. Phoenix only knows how to fry egg and bacon." Red pouted.

"Just be thankful I can at least make breakfast." Phoenix glared at Red.

She chuckled. "Okay. Where’s the kitchen?"

"You know how to cook?" Rogue asked in disbelief.

She nodded. "Yes. I asked our chef to teach me so I can make meals for Caden. I want to be a good wife." She proudly said.

The girls couldn’t believe her, so they took him to the kitchen. She checked stocked ingredients so she could decide what to cook for the Forelli men.

"What will you cook?" Phoenix asked curiosity pique.

"Beef stew." She said, then put on an apron and tied her hair.

The men heard about their boss’ fiance would cook for them. They started to come into the cafeteria and waited.

"Wow! It looks good!" Rogue exclaimed.

"Done. Girls, help me prepare their meal." She smiled.

The girls nodded and followed her. There were around a hundred men in the cafeteria, and she was glad the food was enough for all of them.

"This is tasty!" The men shouted.

A bright smile swept across her face. Her heart skipped hearing the men’s laughter. Their smiles were glittering and infectious. It made her happy.

"You did a great job. Not bad for the future wife of our boss." Rogue commented. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

She saw Red elbowed Rogue. "They broke up, remember."

She turned to the girls and smiled. "I’m here to propose to your boss, so yes, I’m the future wife."

"What if he rejects you?" Phoenix asked.

"He can reject me all he want, but I’ll do everything to make him mine again."

"Cleo giggled. "You’re so brave. Good luck!"

After the meal, the men stood up and bowed to her. "We thank you for the meal, Miss!" They shouted in unison.

She nodded and smiled. "Go take a rest. I’ll take care of your boss."

"We will cheer for you, Miss!"

She blushed. She didn’t know they heard what she said. But she was glad they support her.

Her heart pounded when Rock informed her that Caden was already awake. He didn’t tell Caden she was there because he was worried.

She took a deep breath before entering Caden’s room. He was looking on the other side and didn’t take time to glance at who entered.

"Rock, I told you I don’t want to eat." He said.

She bit her lip as he stepped closer to him.

"Caden?" She called.

He didn’t turn to look at her, but she knew he heard her.

"Caden, can we talk?" She asked.

"What for? We have nothing to talk about." He said in a cold tone.

She took another deep breath and mustered the courage to stand in front of him.

"If you don’t want to talk, then just listen to me." She said. "I’m not going to apologize because I got mad. But I want you to know that I regret breaking up with you. You know how much I love you and scares me seeing you like a stranger. Maybe I was really searching for that boy I met twelve years ago and I know it’s wrong because you changed. I had a lot of what ifs that I can’t answer when we break up, but now I already have answers to those what ifs." She sighed.

"I’m scared that one day you’ll end up dead. I’m scared that you’ll come home with blood all over you. Or maybe you’ll get caught by the government or the police even before you catch Benjamin. It scares me. I’m scared to lose you. But it scares me more not to be by your side when those things happened. Caden, I love you and I want to be your wife. So please, will you marry me?"

He didn’t answer and didn’t even glance at her. She knew he was hesitating because he’s worried. But she would not allow their relationship to end.

"And what if I say no?" He finally asked.

She felt a prickling pain in her heart. "Then I guess I’ll be like Brie. I will stick with you like glue. I’ll follow you and stay behind you until you want me to walk by your side again."

"And how long do you think you can keep that up?"

"I don’t know, but I’m not going to give up on you! If I need to wait for another twelve years or more, then it’s fine. I’ll do it." She exclaimed.

Caden tilted his head and finally stared into her eyes.

"Are you sure? You know I can’t give up on destroying Benjamin, the Trekker Clan, and all those who support him. I’m sorry, but I just can’t." He said.

She nodded. "I know. I know. I’m not going to ask you to give up on that. And I’m not going to judge you and the clan. I understand now. So please, can you give me a chance? Give us a chance. Please, be my fiance again."

He was about to say something, but she couldn’t wait for his answer. She grabbed his shirt and pulled him, pressing her lips against his.

Her lips were trembling. She wasn’t sure if Caden would respond to his kiss. But when she started losing her grip on his shirt, he grabbed her head, pulling her onto the bed.
