My Curse? A Different Yandere in Every Reincarnation-Chapter 167: God-Slaying Spear
Chapter 167: God-Slaying Spear
"WHAT THE FUCK! WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?" I scream, throwing potion bottles on the ground and hearing the sound of shattering glass.
"..." I look at Estella’s corpse, which I revived with necromancy. It was annoying to find the right point to regenerate the entire body when it was just a pile of ice shards.
"What do you have to say about this, you stupid bitch!" I say to the dead body.
"I’m sorry for my failure, Master Belladonna Kraven," the body speaks in a cold, inorganic voice now that I’ve deactivated the personality, which only pisses me off even more as I bite my nail, chewing it until it breaks.
"Damn it...why did it fail..." Everything was going perfectly. I managed to play with Shizune’s body and even test how a headless knight’s body works, and I was even able to prove that potions and certain drugs have effects.
But how the hell did Shizune manage to trick me like this? She pretended to attack my base using simple things and then managed to take advantage of a loophole in the rules to "kill" Estella.
"And what the hell is this magic?" I say angrily, looking at the ice structure, a giant dome that covers the entire area. When I lost the connection with Estella’s body, I ran to this base to see what had happened.
And I found everything frozen. Estella’s body was so fragmented that finding the main part to regenerate her body was almost impossible.
The worst part is not knowing where Shizune is. My plans went down the drain. I couldn’t pretend to save Shizune to win her love, and I couldn’t even find her.
"..." All I have is the stupid Estella corpse that doesn’t know anything. She doesn’t even know how she was defeated. It happened so fast that everything went dark.
’Where did Shizune learn this magic?’ Here in my base, it’s infernally cold, and if it’s this cold even after the use of magic, the place must have become so cold during its use that anything alive would have died frozen.
The magic is very well done. I’ve always known how talented Shizune is, but she’s never shown herself capable of carrying out such a bizarre attack. This attack could kill everything within the area.
Fuck the paladins, this attack could even kill the saint. It’s bizarre how powerful this magic is.
"I need to find her soon. She must be lost somewhere," I murmur, disturbed by being away from her. At least I managed to reach another base and reanimate some hundreds of dead guards.
Since I don’t feel our connection, I know she’s far away. Maybe she went to the old base to try to find me? Or did she go after the one I was in? Or maybe she tried to flee somewhere.
I just know that everything was previously planned by her to kill Estella. It was a miscalculation. I never thought she would have such a devastating attack hidden. She’s never used this attack before and hasn’t even mentioned having it.
"Master Belladonna Kraven, I noticed injuries. Do you need a bandage?" Estella asks mechanically, without personality. She’s just a stupid zombie that talks and follows orders.
"No." The injuries are scratches on my hands. I ended up hurting myself in a fit of rage and scratched myself.
"The slime, the slime is still with her. I’ll try to track the slime," I murmur, thinking about the toy in her brain. Who would have thought that that stupid toy that only serves to increase boldness could be so useful now?
"I need materials for potions." I have a way to track her, but I need materials. I’ll have to go to another base. Nothing is left in the current one. Everything was frozen to the point that the atomic structure itself was rendered useless.
Even if I melt the ice, the materials will no longer maintain their useful properties. This base is now just a useless tomb of ice.
"Let’s go, Estella. I need you to carry me." I say as the dead body moves to hold me.
"Wait, Shizune. You don’t need to be afraid. In a few weeks at most, I should be able to track you down," I murmur, a little desperate. I hope no one dangerous from the church finds her.
If they purify her, I won’t be able to recover her. Purified undead cannot be brought back, even if we obtain the body again.
"Please, be alright," I murmur, fearing she has been caught by the church. I can only hope she can hold out for a few weeks without me.
...
...
...
Three days have passed, and Beatriz has taken a vow of silence. The maids say she does this when she needs to think. We continue the normal routine even in the midst of total silence.
I bring her meals with my "potion," and in the morning she goes to heal people before fulfilling other administrative duties. Three days later, she broke the vow of silence to speak to me.
"Shizune, I’ve made a decision. Come with me," she says, placing the empty teacup on the table as she stands up. I decide to just follow her in silence.
We walk to the basement of the church. I notice that there are no other presences no paladins, no maids. The place is isolated.
"..." I don’t say anything. The reason for the lack of people is not of my interest. I’m more curious about what she’s going to show me.
We descend until we stop in front of a large metal door. Beatriz seems determined as she stands in front of it.
"Shizune, I’m going to test your conviction. If you truly believe in what you told me a few days ago, this is your chance to prove it. But once you enter here, you can’t turn back."
"Tell me honestly, do you believe in what you told me before?"
"Yes."
"Perfect. Then you’re willing to come with me, right?"
"Of course I accept." I speak with confidence.
"If you try to back out after learning what I’m going to say and show you, I’ll lock you in a dungeon forever as a criminal," she says as she begins to open the door with magic.
Soon the large door opens, and I feel an intense unpleasant sensation, as if I would die just by entering the room. But Beatriz enters as if there’s nothing out of the ordinary, so I follow her.
Each step is heavy, as if I would die. In fact, I think this would actually kill me if I didn’t have the protection of my curse that only allows Yanderes to kill me.
The room is empty, except for a single thing: a large white and golden spear suspended in the air by chains. The amount of sacred power in it is so great that any undead would be killed just by being near it.
Which is very much my case. I feel like I’m going to die. It’s a terrifying weapon.
"What is this?" I ask as Beatriz looks at me.
"It’s the God-Slaying Spear, the weapon made by God so that they could kill him if he ever lost his ideals and became evil. He himself made it so that they could kill him one day, but fortunately that day never came," Beatriz says as she approaches the spear.
"All the saints are pierced by this spear and judged. This spear will kill any being who is not suitable for what is being proposed."
"Are you confident you won’t die? I will pierce you with this weapon. If you are not purified, I will believe in you...no, I will faithfully believe that you are comparable to any previous saint who has survived this spear."
"I myself have been pierced by this weapon, and now I will use it on someone who is not a saint. We’ll see if what you said can qualify you as someone worthy of your own life," Beatriz says, pulling the spear from the chains.
"..." I’m nervous for a moment, but then I say with conviction:
"You can hit me. I won’t die. I firmly believe in what I said." I take a step forward.
"Some saints have died when struck by this. They were judged as incomplete or impure and died. The title is only given to those who survive."
"If you come out alive, no one will be able to contest what I say. Everyone knows this as the Sacred Test of the Saint. Almost no one knows how it’s really done."
"If you survive this, everyone will be informed that the undead who is now my personal knight has survived the Sacred Test of the Saint and has legitimate permissions regarding the church."
"Show that you’re not a liar who’s here to kill me. I want to believe in you and your words," she says, pointing the spear at me.
"Are you ready?" freeweɓnovel-cøm
"Of course." I just confirm, standing still. She prepares the spear, holding it in position and charging at me. The ridiculously high sacred power almost makes me give in and fall to the ground, but with willpower I stay standing.
Soon the spear pierces my heart, or rather, it seems to pierce my very soul. My body doesn’t sustain any injury, but it clearly went through me. Beatriz looks at me in shock.
"You...are alive..." She says, surprised. She apparently really thought I would die from this attack.
"Is that enough?" I say, grabbing the shaft of the spear and pushing it away. Beatriz’s grip weakens and she lets go of the spear, which falls to the ground.
’My head seems like it’s going to explode.’ My body is ridiculously painful and heavy. It may seem like I passed, but it’s obvious the spear would have killed me in a normal situation.
I’m only alive because that’s not what’s supposed to kill me, at least not yet. Beatriz falls to her knees, silent tears falling.
"..." She cries silently. I don’t do anything, neither hugging her nor leaving. I just stand there.
"Why did you say those things about those people? Shouldn’t I just accept the complaints and try to improve?" She looks at me with a tear-stained face.
"Hearing complaints and improving is good, but only when the complaints are meant to help you. Complaints like those are not to make you better, they are disguised disdain."
"You don’t have to accept that every day. Tell me, do you think they make any difference in your life? Without them, nothing would change for you, but without you, many of their lives would end."
"Don’t forget who really matters in the end." I say, remaining silent as she gives a weak smile.
"Congratulations, you passed..." She says, getting up and leaving the room. I see the spear float and return to its suspended position on the chains.
’The God-Slaying Spear...what a terrifying and chilling weapon.’ I really felt like I was going to die. It was like walking on a thin wire, while all that kept me alive was my curse.
’Now that I think about it, all my Yanderes have some kind of problem.’ If I look closely, they all had personal or personality issues. Helping these people doesn’t count as a good deed?
Alehandro had obvious trust issues and an extremely limited view of what was truly right. He was taught in a rigid way about something that was not really right.
He didn’t know how to judge that just killing someone without trying to find out more or see if the person was innocent was a bad thing, but thanks to me, he at least seems to have improved in that.
’It would be funny if Beatriz were my Yandere.’ I think as I start to climb the stairs.
