Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 515: Petty
Old Man Quinne sighed and said, "We were late in providing support. When Franklin was fighting with the fugitive, he was stabbed in the abdomen. When he arrived at the hospital, he was still conscious and told me not to call you, but I was worried something might happen, so I didn’t dare hide it from you."
Hazel Yates was clearly a bit emotional. Stephen Sutton supported her and asked Old Man Quinne, "What did the doctor say?"
Old Man Quinne shook his head, "He just went in, we don’t know the situation yet."
Audrey Sutton held Laura Yates’s hand, comforting her, "Sister-in-law, don’t worry. My second brother has great luck; nothing will happen to him."
Laura Yates’s eyes were red as she looked at the tightly shut emergency room door. Her voice was slightly choked as she spoke, "When he left this afternoon, I reminded him to be careful and pay attention to safety, and he promised me he would be..."
The sound of hurried and chaotic footsteps came from the other end of the corridor.
Hazel Yates turned her head and saw Samuel Sutton and Arthur Sutton arriving. She immediately went to meet them, her eyes red, causing Samuel to furrow his brows even more tightly, "Don’t cry, how is he? Is the injury serious?"
Hazel Yates lowered her head and wiped her tears, "Old Man Quinne said the wound is in the abdomen, and he’s still in emergency care. We don’t know the situation yet."
Samuel Sutton immediately looked fiercely in the direction of Old Man Quinne. Old Man Quinne glanced at him, pursed his lips, and slightly turned his back.
Noticing the subtle atmosphere, Phoebe King quietly asked Audrey Sutton, "What’s going on with them?"
Audrey Sutton leaned over to Phoebe King’s ear and said, "Uncle Quinne has known my mom since they were kids. He used to pursue her, so my dad’s never liked him. It’s been like this for years, they argue every time they meet."
Phoebe King looked enlightened, "Oh, rivals in love."
"Click—" the emergency room door was pushed open a crack from the inside, and then they saw Evan Sutton coming out.
Everyone immediately gathered around, hearing Evan Sutton say, "Don’t worry. The doctor checked inside, the wound isn’t very deep, and there’s no life-threatening risk. Stopping the bleeding and stitching it will be enough."
Upon hearing this from Evan, Hazel Yates finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Old Man Quinne walked over and said, "As long as Franklin’s okay. Hazel, I’ll leave you guys to look after him here. I need to go back to the office. Let him rest well these next few days. He took wedding leave for National Day, right? Let him have the wedding before coming back to work."
Hazel Yates quickly nodded, "Alright, thank you so much, Old Man Quinne, for taking up your time so late. Go ahead and get busy. If you’re free during Franklin’s wedding, you must come!"
Old Man Quinne glanced at Samuel Sutton and hesitantly nodded, "I’ll definitely come if I can. I’ll be off then."
Hazel Yates turned around, wanting to see Old Man Quinne off, but Samuel Sutton discreetly pulled her back.
She knew what Samuel Sutton was thinking. Watching Old Man Quinne walk away, Hazel Yates said, "After all these years, why can’t you get over it?"
Samuel Sutton said with a solemn face, "What do you mean I can’t get over it? Obviously, he doesn’t mean well!"
Hazel Yates: "What did he ever do to you?"
Samuel Sutton: "He’s still single at his age. What do you think his intentions are?! Who knows what he’s hoping for in his heart?"
Hazel Yates sighed helplessly, "He’s divorced. His kids are the same age as Audrey. What could he be hoping for?"
Samuel Sutton: "He divorced when his kid was two. Now that they’re as old as Audrey, he hasn’t found anyone else. Don’t you think that’s suspicious?"
Hazel Yates: "Whether he remarries or not is his business. Why are you concerned about his second marriage? I’m telling you, you’re just being petty."
After Hazel Yates finished speaking, she saw Audrey Sutton and the others looking at them, and she felt a bit embarrassed, tugging on Samuel Sutton’s sleeve and lowering her voice, "Alright, stop talking. The kids are all here. Don’t you care about appearances? I’m the one embarrassed here!"
Samuel Sutton continued to mutter, "Me, petty? Didn’t you hear how smoothly he says ’Hazel, Hazel’?"
Hazel Yates pretended not to hear, walked away, and said to everyone, "Since the doctor said it’s nothing serious, there’s no need for so many people here. I see Luna’s shift is ending soon. You should all go get dinner. I’ll stay at the hospital."
Laura Yates walked over and said, "Auntie, I’ll stay. You should go home."
Hazel Yates knew Laura couldn’t be at ease, so she smiled and said, "It’s fine. Laura, you go home and eat first. Bring me some food later. By then, Franklin should be out of surgery, and you can come keep him company."
Audrey Sutton smiled and walked over to pull Laura Yates, "Let’s go, sister-in-law. Let Dad and Mom wait here. I think those two have a bit of a private conversation left. We shouldn’t hang around like third wheels."
Hazel Yates gave Audrey Sutton a glance, "You child!"
Stephen Sutton: "Then we’ll head back first. Call us if anything comes up."
Hazel Yates: "Alright, drive safely, all of you."
Laughing and chatting, they stood by the elevator waiting. They were on the fourth floor, and the elevator was coming down from the eighth. When the doors opened, there were already two girls inside, both wearing masks and hospital uniforms.
At first, Audrey Sutton didn’t pay much attention, stepping into the elevator, with the others following closely.
As the elevator doors slowly closed, they heard a girl’s voice from behind, "Dr. Sutton, heading off duty?"
Evan Sutton turned his head, nodded politely, and smiled.
Curious, Audrey Sutton looked at the girl, just in time to see her take off one side of her mask, smile at Evan Sutton, and ask, "Which day are you on duty?"
After seeing her face, Audrey Sutton couldn’t focus on what the girl was saying. She lifted Shane’s arm, moved in front of him, and whispered, "That’s her, that’s her! Look quickly! They’re exactly alike!"
Initially, Shane was puzzled by what Audrey meant. After glancing at the girl, he understood.
Through the gap in his arm, Audrey kept examining the girl, but Shane turned her head back. All she could hear was the girl chatting with Evan Sutton.
The conversation was just some work-related topics usually discussed among colleagues, nothing special.
The girl and her assistant exited the elevator on the second floor. Once the doors shut again, Audrey Sutton asked, "Fifth Brother, are you familiar with her?"
Evan Sutton shook his head, "I don’t see her often, just exchange greetings."
Audrey Sutton "oh"-ed, considering that when the girl saw them, she barely reacted, only chatting with Evan without asking anything about them. Perhaps she was overthinking; maybe the girl just looked similar to Lan Irving.
