Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 488: Stay Away from Women Who Are Leaving
Franklin Sutton noticed that, in front of Laura Yates, it seemed he had lost all trustworthiness: "Laura, give me one last chance. Since you don’t believe what I say, let time prove it, but please stop talking about canceling the wedding and breaking up."
Laura Yates also knew that Franklin Sutton wasn’t a bad person at heart; it was just his way of handling things that was a bit off. Compared to those good-looking men who play around, he was considered quite conscientious.
She also knew that he had many young girls around him who liked him, but he still had boundaries and wouldn’t go behind her back.
So, as for breaking up, she couldn’t bear to say it out loud.
"We won’t break up, but I don’t want to marry you just yet."
Franklin Sutton: "There are still ten days or so left; don’t rush to a conclusion yet. Consider these days as my evaluation period. If I make you angry again, you can call off the wedding, and I won’t have a word to say. But, just to be clear, the wedding is only postponed, not that I’m letting you marry someone else. I don’t want to crash another wedding."
Laura Yates, somewhat calmed by his words, still put on a stern face, pushed him away, and said, "Whether or not I marry you is something to think about later. Go have your meal first."
Franklin Sutton, hearing her slightly softened tone, felt a small sense of relief and called out to her back as she walked out of the kitchen, "Aren’t you eating with me?"
Laura Yates didn’t respond, instead adjusting her mood and returning to the living room.
Franklin Sutton was dining alone in the restaurant when Audrey Sutton sneaked over and sat next to him, inquiring softly, "Second Brother, what’s going on with you and Second Sister-in-law?"
Franklin looked up at Audrey Sutton, "What are you nosing around for?"
Audrey Sutton: "Second Sister-in-law told me everything. You should stop chatting carelessly on WhatsApp; anyone would be upset about that."
Franklin Sutton glared at Audrey Sutton, "What do you mean chatting? You don’t know anything, go play elsewhere."
Audrey Sutton chuckled, "They say women understand women best. It’s understandable Second Sister-in-law is angry with you. Considering what you did, if she doesn’t break up with you, it’s true love."
Hearing the words "break up," Franklin Sutton felt a chill in his heart and hurriedly interrupted Audrey’s words, "Don’t stir up trouble about breaking up."
Audrey Sutton: "Second Brother, that’s not fair. I’ve often spoken well of you in front of Second Sister-in-law. I believe she’s only not breaking up with you for our sake. Otherwise, with your behavior, you’d deserve to be single forever."
Franklin Sutton: "It was all for nothing treating you so well, wasn’t it?"
Audrey Sutton: "Not at all. If I didn’t want the best for you, I would have added fuel to the fire during your arguments with Second Sister-in-law, and she’d definitely be done with you. Second Brother, as I said before, there are a lot of lessons in dating; it doesn’t matter if you don’t know those fancy tricks; just remember three points."
Franklin Sutton: "Let’s hear it."
Audrey Sutton: "Stay away from other women, talk less, do more."
Franklin Sutton pondered Audrey’s words carefully, "That does seem right."
Audrey Sutton giggled, "I don’t boast, but in matters of the heart, your sister knows more than you."
Franklin Sutton: "Should I start consulting with you in the future?"
Audrey Sutton: "That would require a teaching fee. Oh, Second Brother, there’s something I need to tell you while you were away just now."
Franklin Sutton: "What is it?"
Audrey Sutton: "Take a guess."
Franklin Sutton: "Is it about Shane’s brother again?"
Audrey Sutton shook her head, knowing that Franklin’s dull mind couldn’t guess it, so she just said it, "I’m pregnant; you’re going to be an uncle."
Franklin Sutton was momentarily stunned, then sighed, "Time does fly; I always thought of you as a child, and now you’re about to be a mother."
Audrey Sutton: "So you and Second Sister-in-law need to pick up the pace too. You’re about to get married; don’t cause any more trouble. Second Sister-in-law is beautiful and capable at work, and there are men lined up wanting to pursue her. You better not let someone take advantage of that."
Without a second thought, Franklin Sutton said, "No chance."
Audrey Sutton glanced at Shane Warner, who was sitting in the living room chatting with their third brother and father, and asked Franklin in a low voice, "About his brother’s matter, how’s the investigation going?"
Franklin Sutton: "I’ve kept up with it. Even though I haven’t found any useful leads, there’s one thing I find really strange."
Audrey Sutton: "What’s that?"
Franklin Sutton: "Even if a lot of time has passed and the hotel has nearly been demolished, it shouldn’t be impossible to find any staff who worked there back then. They say all personnel records from that time are gone. The few we found were people who’d only seen them at the scene and only knew some hearsay. Key figures like parking staff, hotel security vanished as if into thin air. It seems too deliberate, like someone orchestrated it."
Audrey Sutton murmured, "It seems like there’s certainly something fishy, and whoever managed it has significant power."
Franklin Sutton: "Back then, The Warner was already very influential. If it really was an outsider, given The Warner’s power at the time, they couldn’t fail to unearth the culprit. For the case to be brushed off as an accident suggests The Warner chose not to escalate it. Or it’s very likely The Warner knows who the perpetrator is and pressed it down to avoid a scandal."
Audrey Sutton: "So... the culprit might be someone from the Warner family?"
Franklin Sutton nodded: "On the surface, it does seem like Vincent Warner’s doing because he had the motive. Although it was his car involved, he might have premeditated everything. If he wanted to harm Sean Warner, he’d surely clear any links with himself, not use his own car to frame Sean Warner, and then point the blame back at himself."
Audrey Sutton was deep in thought. Although she had been married into the Warner family for some time, she didn’t understand much about their situation.
When Grandpa was alive and organized family gatherings, she had met relatives connected to The Warner but wasn’t familiar with them. She knew that open and covert struggles within the family were a consistent matter, and schemes for the heir position hadn’t excluded murder.
She now believed Vincent Warner wasn’t the killer. With the current mindset, it should be someone who wanted to kill Vincent Warner at that time.
It seems she needs to understand the internal tensions within The Warner to discover any clues.
