Chapter 435: Chapter 435: Someone Causes Trouble at the Company

Faye Xavier watched Lan Irving’s departing figure, standing in place for a long time with tightly furrowed brows.

He initially thought that if Lan Irving and Ivan Yardley could live a peaceful life after getting married, he would wish them well. However, he didn’t expect her to become so ruthless, even wanting to take someone’s life.

She wasn’t like this before.

Kind and gentle, she was smarter than other children and loved learning. During her time at the welfare institute, all the elders there liked her very much. But because she began to remember things by the time she arrived at the institute, she missed the prime period for adoption and remained without a family to take her in.

He grew up with her in the welfare institute, so he always felt he understood her.

Aware that she has always been emotionally sensitive, he has always taken special care of her, even after leaving the welfare institute and entering society. He remained by her side, treating her like his own younger sister.

He couldn’t bear to see her end up in a bad situation, but if she remained stubborn, he couldn’t help her.

The next day.

Shane personally took Audrey Sutton to school and even assigned two professional bodyguards to accompany her.

Fortunately, he was thorough in his consideration. The bodyguards dressed casually, blending into the crowd without attracting attention. They weren’t sticking closely to her, so Audrey Sutton didn’t appear to stand out or seem ostentatious for having bodyguards accompany her to school.

Regarding Phillip Keating, Audrey Sutton consulted her second brother. Although they couldn’t pursue Phillip Keating under the police’s authority, he privately asked friends to inquire about Phillip Keating’s whereabouts.

The situation concerns his beloved sister’s safety, so the usual rules and proprieties didn’t matter.

In the afternoon, Audrey Sutton didn’t dare go to the studio and stayed in the dormitory instead. She took a nap and played games with Barry Barrett all afternoon, waiting for Shane to pick her up after work.

While halfway through the game, Audrey Sutton suddenly thought, if Phillip Keating was willing to risk everything, why was his target only her and not Shane?

Perhaps Lan Irving couldn’t bear to harm Shane, but it was uncertain with Phillip Keating.

While Shane did send people to protect her, he shouldn’t let down his guard, giving Phillip Keating a chance.

Audrey Sutton wasn’t sure if she was overthinking, but being cautious is always good, so she immediately minimized the game and called Shane.

Barry Barrett anxiously yelled, "Sutton, why are you standing still?! We’re in the middle of a match!"

Audrey Sutton got out of bed and headed to the balcony, saying to Barry Barrett, "Wait, I’m making a call."

The call was quickly connected, and Shane’s calm voice came through, "What’s the matter?"

Audrey Sutton: "Has Phillip Keating been caught yet?"

Shane frowned, not understanding why Audrey Sutton suddenly asked, "Not yet, he’s probably hiding. Why do you ask?"

Audrey Sutton felt embarrassed for spontaneously calling him, worried he might think she was exaggerating, so she pressed her lips together, "I just wanted to remind you to be careful. What if he can’t target me and shifts his focus to you?"

Shane chuckled at her words, "Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. Stay in the dormitory. I’ll be over to pick you up after my meeting."

"Okay, just stay alert."

"Alright."

After ending the call, Audrey Sutton returned to the room, only to find Barry Barrett staring at her with a resentful look. He threw a pillow at her and said, "You left me hanging in the middle of my promotion match!"

Audrey Sutton caught the pillow in a fluster, chuckled, and said, "No worries, I’ll ask my husband to take us through it tonight."

Barry Barrett’s expression immediately changed, "You said it yourself. I’ll remember this. If you ditch me tonight, I’ll settle it with you when you come to school tomorrow!"

Outside, the sky was gradually darkening, deep thunder rumbling, indicating a storm was coming.

Perhaps influenced by the weather, Audrey Sutton felt increasingly uneasy.

Restlessly lying on the bed, browsing Taobao for Shane’s birthday gift.

Outside, the rain fell hard, and Audrey Sutton checked the time. It was almost five; he should be here to pick her up soon, right?

Audrey Sutton rubbed her eyes, got up from the bed, packed her textbooks for tomorrow’s classes, and sat at the desk, fiddling with the small items on it, waiting for Shane to call her to come downstairs.

Once Flora Lane got off work and Seraphina Vaughn finished class, Shane still hadn’t arrived.

Flora Lane joked, "Audrey, did your husband forget you? How about joining us for dinner instead?"

Audrey Sutton glared at her, "He’s probably still busy. I’ll call him again; you guys go ahead and eat."

After Flora Lane and the others left the dormitory, Audrey Sutton hesitated while pulling out Shane’s number, considering making a call when suddenly an incoming call notification appeared on the screen.

It wasn’t from Shane; it was the driver calling.

Audrey Sutton answered, and the driver’s voice came through, "Ma’am, the Third Young Master instructed me to pick you up. I’m already downstairs at the dormitory."

"Where is he?"

"The Third Young Master ran into some issues and is currently at the police station. He asked me to pick you up first."

"The police station? What happened?"

"I’m not very clear on the specifics; he just told me to pick you up."

Audrey Sutton quickly grabbed the textbooks from the desk and sprinted downstairs.

Once in the car, Audrey Sutton urgently asked the driver, "Is he hurt?"

The driver shook his head, "I haven’t seen the Third Young Master yet, but I previously took Mr. Xavier to the hospital. Apparently, someone caused trouble at the company, and Mr. Xavier got a bit hurt."

"Brother Xavier?" Audrey Sutton frowned, her unease growing, and said to the driver, "Take me to the police station first."

The driver hesitated, "But...the Third Young Master instructed me to take you straight home."

Audrey Sutton repeated firmly, "Take me to him, I will explain it to him."

The driver nodded, "Alright."

When the car reached the police station, Audrey Sutton saw Shane’s car parked in the lot just outside.

By this time, the rain wasn’t heavy, and Audrey Sutton opened the car door and hurried into the police station.

Because she often visited Franklin Sutton, everyone knew she was Franklin Sutton’s sister and didn’t stop her, welcoming her warmly.

She approached Sister Wilson, asking, "Where are they?"

The middle-aged woman in uniform smiled and said, "The Third Young Master is inside giving testimony, should be coming out soon. Your brother is with him; you can wait in his office."

After thanking her, Audrey Sutton quickly made her way to Franklin Sutton’s office. She happened to see Shane coming from the corridor corner, immediately spotting her rushing toward him.

Shane chuckled, extended his arms to catch her and held her close, bending down to ask, "Why did you come over?"
