Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 89: Royal Arrival (III)
Kael walked with Jojo and Sisi in his arms as his entourage proceeded along the long road leading to the palace.
Beastmen civilians of all species lined both sides of the road, cheering enthusiastically. They were overjoyed that their king had returned, especially with the little prince he had been searching for ever since the kingdom was founded.
The little prince also far exceeded their expectations.
They had all assumed he would resemble his father—intimidating, cold-faced, and coldhearted.
Instead, the little prince was utterly adorable. His shimmering white hair and dark blue eyes gazed at them with open curiosity, melting hearts wherever he looked.
The Beast King and his son formed a striking contrast, one that made them impossible to ignore. Naturally, the beastmen civilians concluded that the king’s long-gone fated mate must have been a white wolf, just like the little prince.
However, their attention was also drawn to the breathtaking woman resting comfortably in his arms.
She had no beast ears, no tail, nor any visible traits that marked her as a beastman.
So they all knew that she was human.
The beastmen in the kingdom had long since been forced to adapt to living alongside many different beastman species. That much, they had accepted.
But a human?
They rarely ever saw humans deep within Roc Forest, let alone a seemingly defenseless woman whose beauty was almost too ravishing for her own good.
Was she the new concubine?
After all, the title of queen was reserved for the Beast King’s fated mate—and everyone knew the rumors that his fated mate was long gone.
But hadn’t the Beast King already taken Ruela, his first concubine, as the new sweetheart into the palace? 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Whispers began to ripple through the crowd.
’Psh, isn’t that woman more beautiful than Ruela?’
’Right? Where did our King even find her? I’ve never seen a human living so deep in Roc Forest.’
’Maybe he kidnapped her from a human village outside the forest?’
’Doesn’t look like it. If she were kidnapped, she’d be struggling.’
’Maybe she came willingly. Our King is handsome.’
’If that’s true, then Ruela has competition.’
’Competition? Ruela looks plain compared to her. Maybe she’ll be promoted to queen immediately!’
’Heh, serves her right. I asked Ruela to recommend me as a concubine before, and she never agreed.’
However, neither Sisi nor Kael noticed the gossip swirling among the civilians. The whispers were completely drowned out by the thunderous cheers.
Jojo, on the other hand, was overwhelmed.
So many people were cheering for him.
It felt uncomfortable, so he quickly buried his face against his father’s chest.
He had spent his entire life with just Kael, then later with Sisi and Uncle Marik. He had never seen so many beastmen gathered in one place, clapping and shouting his name.
And as it turned out... he didn’t like it.
It was too loud. Too crowded. Too many unfamiliar faces for Jojo’s liking.
Kael noticed and made a mental note that he had to bring Jojo around the bustling city even more.
Jojo had never lived in a pack before. It would take time for him to adjust, perhaps a very long time.
Kael glanced at Sisi, who was watching Jojo with worry clear in her eyes. She reached out and gently patted the boy’s head.
"It’s okay," she whispered. "We’re almost at the palace, Jojo."
"Mm... it’s too loud, Sisi. I don’t like it..."
"I know," she said softly, then looked up at Kael, silently urging him to walk faster.
But Kael frowned. "He needs to get used to his future subjects. He’ll be king one day. What kind of king can’t face his own people?"
"You need to let him learn slowly," Sisi replied calmly. "Forcing all this on him at once will only overwhelm him."
"Then he’ll learn by enduring the extreme," Kael insisted.
Sisi opened her mouth to argue. But in the end, she sighed and looked away, defeated.
Kael’s expression twisted when he saw that.
This was the first time he had clearly won an argument against this crafty woman, yet it didn’t feel satisfying at all.
In fact, seeing her sulk like that made him oddly uncomfortable.
Still, he believed he was right.
Jojo needed to adapt. The Beast Kingdom would continue to grow, and the crowds would only become larger. One day, all these beastmen would rely on him.
And besides, who was she to lecture Kael on how to raise his own son?
She was merely a meddling witch who had somehow bonded with Jojo. Until she left on her own—or until Jojo no longer needed her—Kael would have to endure her presence, along with the mysterious floral scent clinging to her skin, mixed with that faint, rotting stench he found impossible to ignore.
When the palace gates finally came into view, Kael nudged Jojo gently.
"Open your eyes, son. We’re about to enter the palace."

Ruela spent a long time bathing, carefully applying olive cream on her skin until it felt soft and flawless. She then worked with Leah to adorn herself in the finest gemstones her family possessed, determined to present the most perfect version of herself to the Beast King.
Leah was so busy running back and forth that she had begun to sweat.
"Miss, you really don’t need to do all this," Leah complained. "You’re already the most beautiful beastman in the world. The Beast King wouldn’t even notice all these gemstones in your hair and dress when he’s busy taking it off!"
"Of course I know that," Ruela replied with a sigh.
Female wolf beastmen never had a culture of excessively adorning themselves. At most, they decorated their hair with flowers. Life in Roc Forest had always been harsh, survival came first, and wars between packs were common.
But since the Beast King rose to power, such conflicts had ceased. For the first time, female beastmen had the luxury of caring for themselves.
And Ruela was not just any wolf beastman.
She was the Beast King’s first and only concubine.
She had been blessed by the Moon Goddess and the faeries.
In other words, she was special!
And as the Beast King’s only woman, it was her duty to look as stunning as possible when he returned.
