The voice cut sharply through the hall, but something cut even sharper, and it was a question.

"How many died due to his raging feat…?"

It was Sir Asmodeus who asked.

"Many were injured, including about seven humans who, up to now, are still in a coma, but only a single person died."

"Obviously, the Eva Aramitsche lady?"

He said, and a commander nodded.

"Yes, Sir Asmodeus."

"Have you done any research about her?"

He asked, and they paused.

"Research?"

"The young man claimed the one he killed was a murderer. Has any research been done at all to confirm the truth of his words?"

"I… we…"

"I'm afraid research is still being done on that."

A quick-witted commander answered.

"Then, isn't this obvious?" he asked, leaving the commander in confusion.

"Play both footage together…"

He ordered, and the footage of the golden monster was played alongside the ongoing battle.

"Look at both of these footages. Isn't it clear to you all that the personality of the one fighting now and the monster has a difference?"

He asked as the commanders' gazes knitted at the screen.

"One is a normal person, and one is…"

He said, pausing, and a commander completed.

"Overtaken by rage!?"

"Of course. And when even the most average W-grade Corer goes on a rampage, it's only natural that people get hurt."

"The fact that none died at all already shows that even in his raging moment, he still has quite the self-awareness to prevent meaningless death."

"Aren't there cases where even the CHO, in some of their rescue missions, ended up having innocent people injured or even worse, killed, with entire buildings eradicated?"

Sir Asmodeus asked.

"That only happens in cases where we have absolutely no other choice."

"Besides, our intentions, even if people get hurt, are always pure and for the greater good."

A commander defended.

"Intention, you say?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

The robed figure asked.

How can you claim that this young man's intention to barge into the Mechara Organization wasn't motivated by good intentions?

He asked, and silence covered them once more.

"Maybe he just saw the Eva lady kill someone or a close person and tried to kill her in return?"

"Your first mission in a situation like this should have been to get those who were hurt to safety and then focus on verifying information, which must start from putting yourself in the shoes of the offender."

"Something none of you did, considering that his personal claim has up until now been unverified, even though you have sent CHO personnel after him...twice!"

"The basics of justice are to hear both sides of the opposition."

"It's very shameful that the CHO, the most judicious of Nvidians organizations, could have failed at such a simple thing."

"And now...that failure is about to cause the death of seven others of your officials."

"What? That's it?"

The words, laced with amusement, rang out over the sea waves from none other than Everlearn, who hovered there, energy undulating from his palm.

Before him were the CHO officials, except that only three of them were standing.

One was the bulky man whose bazooka was nowhere to be found.

Instead, in his arm was Doromia, the hammer girl, who had been knocked out cold.

The other person standing was Salvatore himself, who had already lost one arm, and in his hands was the other girl with the Chameleon Mech Module, also unconscious in his arms.

The last standing was Tabha, the monk, who also had in his arms not one but two others.

A lanky dude with green hair, along with another girl.

Their teeth clenched hard in pain, looking at the monster who hovered before them with an almost disappointed gaze.

They had been defeated.

Not just defeated, they had been completely overwhelmed, up to the point where they couldn't even raise their weapons anymore, their hands filled with the bodies of their own teammates, to prevent them from drowning.

They had failed to defeat him.

"Tsk, I expected much better from the killing intent you harbor…"

He said, raising both hands as energy brimmed within them.

"You came to kill me, so I'm pretty sure you must have all been prepared to die in return."

"Goodbye!"

Everlearn said, whispering right after,

"Missile Hand Strike: Unending Force Barrage!"

He uttered, and in the next moment, a destructive beam of energy burst out of both hands, piercing forward with horrifying power.

The three individuals stood frozen in shock as the beams rushed toward them.

They were simply too exhausted, unable to muster enough energy to swerve out of the way.

Eyes immediately shut, preparing for a server impact,

SNAP

The sound of a finger snapping for a second was all that rang in the space, and even though their eyes were shut closed in wait.

Three seconds passed, and nothing happened.

Each forced their eyes open, only for their eyes to widen at the sight before them.

The force piercing toward them no longer existed.

Instead, there was now a man.

A robed figure standing before their group with his hands raised, fingers in the ending motion of a flick.

But the sight of those hands immediately sent everyone rushing away, including Everlearn himself.

'Those hands,' he thought in disbelief.

They were translucent, like a glass-like void.

Besides, when he had shot that energy, the figure had mysteriously appeared out of thin air and snapped his fingers, causing the energy to simply phase out of existence.

Shocking as it may be, Everlearn found the solution quickly.

"Arcane."

The second he uttered those words, his body bent into a true combat stance, and even the CHO group behind him also looked at the figure warily, bringing out attack gadgets.

In an instant, the dynamics had changed.

From them trying to kill each other, they had immediately focused their attention on the new being.

Seeing how the CHO soldiers had also gotten into a combat stance, Everlearn immediately knew they were just as clueless as he was.

And that… greatly troubled him.

"Who… what are you?"
