Mecha Devourer System-Chapter 215: Descent of an Arcanist (II)
The reason why he felt troubled was simple.
Humanity only knew a single race that used Arcane, and that was their soul enemy, the Nakros.
Yet he knew well enough that the figure before him could not possibly be a Nakros.
Nakros don't have such magical arms, and they were a lot bulkier.
The one before him seemed more human than Nakros.
The robed figure slowly turned his head to the group of CHO behind him.
They flinched at the sight of his stare, but then watched as he quietly reached his hands toward them.
SNAP!
That sharp sound of fingers clicking drowned out all noise in the world for a second, and in the next moment, Everlearn's eyes widened in shock as he witnessed all seven disappear.
Yes!
They completely disappeared into thin air as if they never existed, just like his previous attack.
[WARNING!]
[WARNING!]
[An Arcanist Has Descended Before Host!]
'An Arcanist!?... What's that?'
"What did you do to them?"
He asked, his hands immediately brewing forth with energy.
"I thought you were just about to kill them?"
The figure asked confusedly as Everlearn's eyes flashed.
'He can speak.'
"I didn't ask for your help to kill them, did I?"
He shot back.
"Oh, don't mind it then. Also, I didn't kill them. I just prevented you from killing them."
He said, continuing,
"Though your reason for wanting to end them all is logical enough."
"They wanted your life, so you took theirs."
"I'm afraid I cannot let that happen, as I do not see the world from logic, but from intention."
"Intention?"
Everlearn mused with creased eyebrows.
"Most of them don't hold a personal vendetta against you. They're simply here on orders, whose source arose from a noble aim."
"Your words don't make sense…"
Everlearn said, watching as the being turned his back on him.
"We will meet once more, young man. But first, I must confirm if you're truly without err."
"If you are, and the verdict for you is death, then I'll come myself to end you."
He said, stepping away.
"If you're innocent, then I will come personally to deliver the CHO's apology."
But then he paused, turning slightly.
"And don't worry, when I come to kill you, I'll come prepared to be killed myself."
A door of glass-like void appeared in the next moment, opening as he stepped in, but in the next instant,
VROOOOOOOOOOOOM
The air blew with speed as Everlearn flashed forward, appearing behind the man with both hands stretched toward his head, brewing with every power he could gather.
"Saving the lives of my enemies makes one thing clear. You're my enemy!"
"Missile Hand Module: Maximum—"
He had yet to finish his call when,
SNAP!
The sound of a finger snapping drowned out his words.
Reason, contemplation, thought.
Everything faded away from his head.
A Void finger slowly stretched toward him, gently pressing the space an inch before his conjoined fists.
RIIIPPLE!
A silent ripple of void-black quietly spread toward Everlearn, and in the next moment, his eyes widened in shock as he witnessed the ripple reach his hands.
When it passed through, he watched the nanomachines on his arms disintegrate into a hundred pieces, slowly, quietly, and only when his entire arms had disintegrated up to his shoulders did the force finally reach him.
A colossal force that turned him into a blur, and he repeatedly slammed into the water's surface, bouncing again and again before smashing into a solid object that managed to halt his motion.
He slid down to a knee, eyes widened in shock, and raised his head back up.
About fifty kilometers away stood the robed figure, who quietly continued into the void-door.
His last words?
"Unreasoned haste is the sin of a fool…"
_______________
"What…"
Everlearn mused as the door disappeared along with the robed figure, and he turned to his arm.
There was nothing left. Nothing at all.
The image of that single finger traveling through the air repeatedly played in his head.
"What was that…"
He asked, looking at the place where the figure had disappeared.
A notification flashed, and a device appeared mid-air, caught by Everlearn's feet.
It was his device, which was currently ringing loudly, an incoming call.
"Hey, X-Vice, pick it up!" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
He ordered, and the call was automatically picked up.
"Everlearn?"
The feminine voice echoed from the other side.
"Boss Ash."
He uttered quietly, and she asked,
"What's up?"
"Huh…"
Everlearn mused, looking around him.
There was nothing but the endless ocean, with a small piece of mountain behind him.
"Stranded at sea?"
He asked, and a pause followed for a while before a mocking giggle.
"You've got your X-Guard Academy device on you, right?"
"Yeah?"
"Then keep it on. I'll track that to get to you…"
She said, and the connection was severed.
"Ahhh,"
Everlearn exhaled quietly, storing his X-Vice before taking out his X Academy Device and keeping it on.
He sat down on the rock he had slammed into and waited quietly.
As he did, his destroyed arms slowly regenerated, and after about an hour, they had fully regenerated, but this time, no more nozzles, only crystal-clear white arms.
But throughout the hour, Everlearn's mind still reeled from one thing.
That attack.
A snap of the finger, and his attack had been halted, his brain going into a stop mode.
And then came the second horror.
A single finger strike that had not only destroyed both arms but sent him flying over fifty kilometers.
"Just who was that? A new race apart from the Nakros!?"
Everlearn mused.
However, he had clearly assisted the CHO soldiers and even stated that he would personally deliver the CHO's apology in light of his innocence.
That meant he worked for the CHO, or at least had some relationship with them.
"Hey, system, what race was that being? A new race? A Nakros?"
He asked, but the panel didn't blink at all.
Before he pressed on, he quietly looked to the clouds, finding a sleek black jet racing down toward him.
He could already feel her familiar presence, and he forced down the thoughts in his head, rising to his feet.
