Chapter 36: First take

Silas’s POV

I dragged that fake corpse there, then looked around to see if anyone was following me. Once I was sure, I resumed digging the hole—it was already dug, I just needed to dig slightly more.

Once the grave-like hole was ready, I pushed the corpse inside and covered it with soil.

"Bastard, this is what you get for messing with my loved ones."

I spat into the hole, but just as I turned around to leave, my foot slipped, and before I knew it, I fell into the hole myself.

"CUT!"

Director Wang shouted loudly, and everyone rushed toward me.

"Are you okay?"

I stood up on my own, refusing anyone’s help. Just then, Lysander arrived.

"Silas, you’re fine, right?"

"Of course, I’m fine." But in my mind, I was worried—what if Director Wang scolded me for not getting it right on the first take?

As if on cue, Director Wang walked toward me.

"Silas, you’re okay, right?"

"Yes, Director. Don’t worry about me. I’m sorry for causing trouble."

Director Wang stepped forward. "What trouble? There’s no trouble at all. In fact, in my whole career, this is the first time I’ve seen a newcomer actor deliver a perfect scene on the first take."

Before continuing, he glanced at Lysander and gave him a small smile.

"You were so perfect that the shot turned out flawless. I’m really impressed. Honestly, I thought we’d be spending the whole night just trying to shoot this first scene. But you surprised me."

Relief washed over me. I hadn’t messed up. Actually, I had been nervous, and I was sure I’d make a mistake. But then I saw Lysander, and all my nervousness faded. He made me feel at ease and confident—that’s why I was able to perform so well.

Still, something was bothering me. Who had hit Nekol and made his cheek swell? I was worried about him. Nekol was an introverted guy, always listening to others, never standing up for himself. He lacked confidence, which was why he always wore a mask.

But in my opinion, he didn’t need to hide his face—he was beautiful. Even though he was a beta, he was far more stunning than most omegas.

I glanced at Director Wang. "So, which scenes are left now?"

Director Wang smiled. "None. We can pack up and go home today."

"Really? But we only shot one take... is that okay?"

"That one take was perfect. So, everyone, pack up! We’re moving to a new shooting location tomorrow. Enjoy your rest tonight!"

Director Wang left, and I stood there as the crew members smiled and praised me. They were happy they didn’t have to work all night—they could rest, and it was all because of me.

Bowing to everyone, I made my way to my vanity bus. But when I got there, Nekol was nowhere to be found. Even after searching, I couldn’t find him. Just then, I heard shouting.

Curious, I peeked beside the bus. Nekol was standing there, talking to someone on the phone.

I didn’t step forward—I just stayed hidden, listening.

"Why are you spying on Nekol?"

I flinched at the sudden voice, my heart racing. I knew that voice—it was Lysander. Glancing at him, I saw that he was also peeking, resting his chin on my head like I was some kind of table. But Nekol’s situation was more important than wasting my time with Lysander, so I ignored him and focused back on Nekol.

"Listen to me—you can’t just show up on set like you did today. If you do, I’ll report you."

Wait... was Nekol talking to a boyfriend? But he’d never mentioned having one.

"Please, just leave me alone! I’m begging you. We’ve already broken up, so you can’t just show up and meet me whenever you want. And I don’t have money to give you either."

Nekol was crying. His voice was filled with sadness and fear. His body trembled as he spoke.

"I don’t want to hear anything else. I’m hanging up. Don’t call me again."

As Nekol ended the call and turned around, he caught sight of me and Lysander.

"Silas, what are you doing here? What about your scene? Aren’t you still shooting?"

"So many questions at once, Nekol. Breathe."

Something was definitely wrong. When Lysander and I questioned him, he stayed silent at first. But after we pressed him again and again, he finally spilled everything.

He had been in a relationship for the past two years. At first, everything was perfect—they were the happiest couple. But then Nekol noticed something strange. Someone else was coming to their house when he wasn’t home.

Suspicious, he installed a hidden CCTV camera. And that’s when he learned the cruel truth—his boyfriend was cheating on him.

He had been seeing another omega behind Nekol’s back. Worse, he had only been with Nekol for his money.

Nekol broke up with him after that.

But then, after Nekol’s artist retired and he lost his job, his ex-boyfriend suddenly started coming back, asking for money. When Nekol refused, that bastard hit him.

That was why Nekol had applied for a job at Gold Era Company.

And now, when he refused to give his ex money again, the guy had followed him to the set, hit him, and threatened to come back tonight to take money by force.

As I listened, my blood boiled. If that bastard were here right now, I would have made him pay for everything he did to Nekol.

Nekol looked so heartbroken, on the verge of tears, yet he was holding himself back—just like I do. But I hold back because I know I can’t afford to show my weak side to anyone.

As for Nekol, he could show his weakness... but he still chose not to.

And that’s fine. Because I’m here. I’ve got his back.

I will protect my one and only manager.

As soon as Nekol finished speaking, I quickly got up and pulled him into a hug because I knew he needed it the most.

"Don’t worry, Nekol. Everything is fine now.
