Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 74: The Vampire King’s Daughter
[JIHOON]
"What did Dalrae mean by that?" Jihoon asked Daehyun who had been glaring daggers at the tonic they were supposed to drink. He had carried it with him when they left the palace because he was sure he wouldn’t need the tonic.
Granted, the substance was just a portion, but it was supposed to be of help. Besides, the prince’s welcoming ceremony was already over and the wolves were heading home. It would be a long ride, but one they had to go on.
"Hell if I know," Daehyun said even though he was worried that Jihoon could see right through him. They had known each other for a long time.
He never meant to lie to his alpha, but he couldn’t exactly tell Jihoon that he had heard Rania say something that could overturn the whole trial. It was risky, so he was going to keep his mouth shut. At least until he got more information, but where was he even supposed to get that from?
"I’m your alpha, and friend, Daehyun. I need to know if you triggered a war with the psycho. We are already at odds with Rania because she murdered my mate. It wouldn’t be fair to give her a chance to keep taking from me.
"I don’t want her to take you away from me too. We both know that the trial isn’t exactly what she expected, and it won’t be easy to catch her without any evidence. Should I be worried?" Jihoon asked again.
He never wanted to have such conversations with Daehyun but it wasn’t like he was having the best of his days, right? With the trial, Jihoon knew he had to be ready for Rania’s strikes. The woman couldn’t be controlled by anyone, much less a council she despised.
"Relax, Jihoon. I didn’t do anything, I swear. I just went to see how she could sleep peacefully while she left the pack without a luna. What she did was so selfish and I wanted to make sure she wasn’t trying to plan an escape.
"We both know the palace has witches and many would do whatever it took just to get Rania out of all our lives in the supernatural realm. Including building her portals to nowhere.
"We need her to pay for taking our Luna and not run away just because the system lets her," Daehyun said with so much conviction and anger that Jihoon just let out a sigh.
He knew that his people were raised about the fact that Rania was still roaming free despite murdering their luna. It was selfish and uncalled for, but the walls of justice weren’t exactly appealing, at least until the prince came back.
With the prince on the same side as Park Jihoon, the calindra alpha knew they would get the justice come hell or high water. It was a given and no one was going to risk that anyway.
"Okay fine. If there’s something I need to know, make sure to tell me. I hate being blindsided," Jihoon said to Daehyn who just nodded. The two friends hurried back home, hoping that they would get over the pain eventually.
Jihoon thought of the vampire king and his reaction to him having a daughter. He had seen king Nathaniel get excited that he had a love child with the queen Eunbi. He knew that the king was hoping to get a chance with his daughter.
And that right there was the loophole that Jihoon needed.
"Get me the messenger," Jihoon said to Daehyun, hours later when they had reached home and settled. Daehyun didn’t even ask questions because he knew that Jihoon probably wanted to send a messenger to the king.
Or maybe the werewolf prince, to remind him that Rania was a sly woman who could escape justice and none of them would ever be able to do shit.
"Sure," Daehyun said as he called for the calindra messenger, Zhervos, before turning to his alpha, "You’re not planning on going to Incayon alone, are you?"
"Incayon? Hell no. Why would I even go there? This messenger will be going to Drarun, the land of the undead. It’s time we sought the help of the drarun vampires to fix our Rania problem, once and for all," Jihoon said to Daehyun who looked at him, still haunted by Rania’s words.
There was something about that night that made Daehyun feel like they were making a great mistake. He wanted to tell his alpha to slow down, but how was he supposed to, when he didn’t even know what he was thinking?
"The vampires? Don’t you think that would be going a little overboard?" Daehyun asked as he sat next to the alpha. Jihoon looked at his beta, wondering whether something had happened to him in the palace.
Everyone was aware of how much Daehyun despised Kim Rania, and to think that he was making the rationality plea right now was insane. What had happened to him in the palace? 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"Yanna was a hybrid. A vampire and werewolf. The only way to put pressure on the crown is to notify the undead that one of their own was murdered here. That way, they can help us get justice.
"It’s the least we can do for Yanna. We need to put this behind us, and if the vampires are the only cookie, then so be it. Besides, what could go wrong in a meeting where the wolves and the vampires have to fight against a common person?" Jihoon asked and Daehyun just sighed.
All of this was insane. Five years had already passed and while they wanted justice, bringing the vampires into Obren was not a good move. It would result in the death of Rania, not that he didn’t want to see her dead, but somehow, Daehyun was certain that it would break them more.
"Okay, I understand," Daehyun said as they wanted for the messenger. The Calindra messenger showed up a few minutes later, and received instructions from his senior.
"Hello, sire," Zhervos said to the alpha once he walked into his office. He was met with two men who looked like they had had the worst day of their lives. Maybe it was because of the party, or maybe it was because they were fired and it was almost midnight.
"Have a seat, Zhervos. I need you to ride to Drarun at first light. I have a message for the king and the high guard, officer Kang Mo Yoo. Tell them we have news about one of their own who was murdered in Incayon, five years ago.
"Tell him that she was murdered without even having to lift her sword. And tell officer Kang to tell the king Nathaniel, that the hybrid was our Calindra luna, Yanna. Leave nothing out.
"If you must, tell officer Kang that the one who killed their own, was one of the people who went to rescue the werewolf prince. The woman who was pretending to be the vampire then. Tell them about Rania, and leave no stone unturned.
"I don’t care if you have to exaggerate, but tell the king that Rania will be going to trial and there are high chances that she won’t be charged. Tell the king that we need his help, to get justice for his daughter," Jihoons said and Zhervos looked at him with an open mouth.
"Daughter?"
