Chapter 71: Girl, We’re Screwed

[RANIA]

"Look what we have here. The psycho and her beta. Tell me something dalrae, does it not break your heart how Rania needs a mental asylum admission and you’re always encouraging her?

"I thought friends were supposed to help each other?" Jihoon said, his tone full of mockery and Rania just watched amusedly. She didn’t want to fight this early, especially not with Jihoon and his beat. So she decided to watch from a distance while Dalrae picked a fight.

Rania knew Dalrae was probably pissed about Jihoon’s open request and while it was expected of her, Rania would wait and see how her best friend would work this out. She would be on standby to make sure Dalrae didn’t break bones or get into trouble, not that she wouldn’t enjoy it though.

"I don’t know, maybe you could start with keeping your beta on a tight leash, no?" Dalrae bit back angrily as she glared daggers at Daehyun who was confused.

He wasn’t sure what dalrae thought she was doing, but he hoped that she wasn’t mad at him for what the alpha had done. Surely that wouldn’t be fair even for him.

"You’re projecting, Dalrae," Jihoon said, as he picked up his tonic from the table.

He was glaring daggers at the solution but it was the only way for them to get over the hangover. Jihoon contemplated putting it out, but then it wasn’t like he would be able to go from the Obren palace to Calindra while he was hungover as fuck.

This here was a necessary evil anyway.

"Am I?" Dalrae asked curiously, her eyes never once leaving Daehyuns. She knew that Kim Rania and Jihoon were probably a little too green here but she didn’t care about that. If Jihoon was going to defend his beta, then he could at least have the decency to admit what he had done.

She had seen Daehyun in their room the previous night and she knew that he hadn’t come to their room to kiss them goodnight. It was so obvious that they had joined the parade of the worst of the worst in the lands, but that wasn’t even surprising.

"Yes, you are. Anyway, Rania, keep her in check," Jihoon said, as he drank his tonic. That shit was whack, however, he was the alpha and he knew his people were probably watching him to see if they could drink the tonic too.

He just wanted to sleep his hangover off, but that was a luxury that the royal palace didn’t ever provide to them.

"Says the man whose beta came to our room with a syringe full of silver. Tell me something, Daehyun, were you going to use it on Rania or me?" Dalrae asked, making Jihoon choke on the tonic he was drinking, splitting the contents on the grass that had been trimmed so well.

Daehyun suddenly went pale, looking at Dalrae wondering what she’s talking about even though he already knew. He was into trouble and even karma wouldn’t be able to save him for the woman.

"What?" Rania asked, even though she knew people would come hunting her in the night. She was okay with that, but did he really have to come when she was with Dalrae?

Rania was pissed, but she also knew that everyone who had heard them was expecting her to blow up, but this time, she was choosing to be mature. Hopefully, that would make the people think she had even an ounce of her sanity. Right?

"Hold on, what? That’s a serious accusation there, dalrae," Jihoonsaid once he got his composure back. He wasn’t expecting that, but hearing it from dalrae made him think that his beta was finally going nuts.

"You did what?" Jihoon turned to Daehyun who was opening his mouth and closing it like he was a fish on dry land. He looked so terrible that Rania knew he would probably faint. However, Jihoon wanted answers.

"Well, I’ll just give this warning once, because my head feels like I’m on a wood chipper," Dalrae said to Jihoon before stalking toward Daehyun who was still hungover as fuck. He was silently hoping Rania wouldn’t say shit and lucky for him, Dalrae wasn’t in the mood, so obviously, Rania would back off.

"The next time you try that shit with my sister, I will make your life so miserable that you’ll decide to take your own life. That is a promise, remember it well, lest you forget," Dalrae said to Daehyun, before she stepped back, and dragged Rania away from the two calindra alphas.

Dalrae had heard what her best friend had said last night, but she wasn’t going to ask, because she knew Rania, and if she wasn’t ready to share her pains, there was just no way that dalrae would make her.

"Are you okay, Rani?" Dalrae asked when they got to the stables where they had left their horses.

Usually, Rania would go to the king and say her formal goodbyes, but today, she wasn’t going to do it. She just didn’t want to look at Jungwoo and see him kissing her again. Besides, he had made it clear that the next time they would be meeting would just be for the sake of their people.

"Yeah, I’m okay. Hop on and let’s go home, yeah?" Rania said and dalrae just sighed. Rania was blocking her again, but that was okay, because she had gone through a lot.

"Alright, let’s go. Just remember to not beat yourself up about what happened here. I don’t care what charges they have against you. I choose to trust you and we both know I’ll defend you even if I’m the only one left," Dalrae said and Rania just nodded.

She knew that her life was about to get into the dark phases. So much was about to happen and the fact that she had just lost one of her best friends because of a woman she didn’t regret killing, wasn’t what she had planned, but hey, she knew it would all happen someday.

"Oh you gotta be kidding me," Rania said when they reached the gates of Incayon.

"What the fuck happened to our home?" Dalrae asked as she looked at the empty and bloodied gates.

"Hell if I know, but this looks like the work of the rogues—"

"Or the undead. Girl, we’re screwed."
