Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 332: Not Completely Dead Yet
Xu Yi charged forward, then swung down towards the giant lizard’s mouth.
With one strike, half of the giant lizard’s mouth was chopped off by Xu Yi.
The giant lizard let out a miserable scream, rolling its body.
Having lost a leg and now half a mouth, it posed little danger anymore.
However, Xu Yi had no intention of letting it go.
At this moment, killing it outright would be the safest option.
In a little while, Lu Ke would come to rescue Liu Li and Cheng Jie, and he had to ensure that during this time, the giant lizard wouldn’t harm them.
As Xu Yi charged towards the giant lizard, Liu Li and Cheng Jie exchanged a glance, feeling a sense of relief at having survived a disaster.
If Xu Yi had been slightly slower, one of them would be dead by now, and the other wouldn’t last more than a few minutes.
Both were completely out of strength, surviving purely on the will to live.
"Sister Li, Sister Jie." Lu Ke shouted as he ran up, then saw the two of them lying on the ground, motionless.
All the spectators believed Cheng Jie and Liu Li were done for, even though they hadn’t been bitten, they’d been struck by the giant lizard’s tail several times.
They had used two grenades to take down one of the giant lizard’s legs.
The first grenade had been used early on but didn’t injure the lizard, only allowing them to escape from its jaws.
Viewers in their live stream predicted they would die in the jaws of the giant lizard and wouldn’t hold out until Xu Yi and Lu Ke arrived.
After all, Xu Yi and Lu Ke also encountered a giant lizard and needed time to deal with it.
In their view, Lu Ke reached the two’s side.
Lu Ke first turned Liu Li over, then Cheng Jie.
Once turned over, Lu Ke sighed with relief.
The two of them weren’t dead yet; they were still breathing.
Their faces were bruised and swollen, unrecognizable, and they looked utterly miserable.
As long as they weren’t dead, that’s what mattered; on this planet, injuries recovered quickly. As long as they weren’t dead, they should recover.
Lu Ke took out some water and fed some to Liu Li and Cheng Jie.
Lu Ke didn’t bother with Xu Yi at that moment; after all, the giant lizard only had one leg left, which shouldn’t be too difficult for Xu Yi to handle, though it might take a bit longer.
Five minutes later, Xu Yi killed the giant lizard and hurried to Lu Ke’s side, checking on Liu Li and Cheng Jie.
"How are they?" Xu Yi asked Lu Ke.
"They seem okay, probably won’t die," Lu Ke said, though not very confident.
Liu Li and Cheng Jie had external injuries, but whether their internal organs were hurt was hard to tell.
Xu Yi nodded, then opened the map to check the status of Team 313.
The distance was now within 5 kilometers; they probably hadn’t encountered any danger and would soon arrive to join up.
Once they met, they could use their points to exchange for supplies.
The desert was extremely dangerous; encountering a single giant lizard was tough enough, let alone if they encountered a group.
Moreover, the weather was extremely harsh, already approaching 40 degrees. And it wasn’t even noon yet; it could get even hotter by then.
The clothes they were wearing were quite effective; otherwise, they would have frozen to death last night.
Still, they needed a hat to block the scorching ultraviolet rays; otherwise, their skin would quickly get sunburned.
Xu Yi checked Cheng Jie and Liu Li’s pulse and then stepped away.
Although he had three Rapid-Acting Body Repair Potions, he didn’t want to use them so soon. Plus, he wasn’t sure if Cheng Jie and Liu Li’s condition warranted the use of such a potion.
If it wasn’t necessary to use them yet, it would be a waste.
These three potions were meant for life-saving situations.
Of course, if it was confirmed they needed them, Xu Yi wouldn’t hold back. After all, they were two lives, and they were also his teammates.
At that moment, Xu Yi realized his team actually needed a doctor.
If they could have matched with Su Yan initially, that would have been the best outcome.
Zhou Chun and Zhou Mo weren’t weak, but with an extra team of doctors, their strength would increase significantly.
"You take care of them; I’ll peel the giant lizard’s skin to use as sun protection," Xu Yi said, then drew his dagger.
In such a scorching place, if they didn’t have sun protection, they would lose water quickly and easily suffer from heatstroke. In serious cases, it could be fatal.
Lu Ke’s eyes lit up; she hadn’t thought of using the giant lizard’s skin.
Soon, Xu Yi had peeled off all the scales from the giant lizard.
Then, the two of them spread out the scale-covered skin, shielding themselves from the sun while waiting for Zhou Chun and Zhou Mo to arrive.
Twenty minutes later, Zhou Chun and Zhou Mo appeared.
They were somewhat surprised to see the giant lizard’s corpse, given its massive size; it was five or six meters long, over a meter wide, and weighed two to three thousand pounds.
The peeled skin revealed its reddish-brown flesh, which was quite striking.
"Zhou Mo," Xu Yi called out.
Zhou Chun and Zhou Mo immediately reacted and ran over.
"Were they attacked by the giant lizard?" Zhou Mo asked in shock. He thought Xu Yi and Lu Ke had encountered the giant lizard and killed it along the way.
"We all encountered it with Liu Li; by the time we got here, they were already injured," Xu Yi explained, handing over the giant lizard’s skin to Zhou Mo.
Zhou Mo promptly took over, replacing Xu Yi.
Xu Yi first took out water, feeding some to Liu Li and Cheng Jie, then gave some to Lu Ke, and finally took a few sips himself.
"Now, let’s discuss our next move," Xu Yi said, glancing at Zhou Chun.
Liu Li and Cheng Jie were too weak, without any advantage, so they had no say in making decisions.
If they wanted to make decisions, they needed to show their strength.
Regardless of how they were eliminated before, it indicated their strength was lacking.
After all, Liu Li and Cheng Jie weren’t part of Team 403. If they were, Xu Yi would consult them too.
"Should we go to the jungle or stay in the desert?" Xu Yi asked, wanting to know Zhou Chun’s thoughts. After all, they were a team; even if they couldn’t agree on ideas, their goals had to align.
"I lean towards the jungle; it’s likely we won’t find a water source in the desert. To survive 100 days, we’d have to plunder other teams’ supplies and points," Zhou Chun said bluntly.
Without water, survival is impossible; it’s a very real issue.
Food might be solved with these giant lizards, but not the water source.
"Alright, our goals align, so let’s head to the jungle. I’ve studied the map from Star Chart; it doesn’t tell us which direction to go. The map only helps us locate teammates; it has no other use. So, I want to exchange for some supplies to help us leave the desert," Xu Yi said. If Zhou Chun wanted to stay, Xu Yi would have to use force to convince them.
You might survive 100 days in the desert, but what about the next hundred?
So no matter how dangerous the jungle is, to aim for 500 days, they must go.
