Chapter 53: Adios, Drarun, Until Next Time

[DRARUN]

Jeon Jungwoo was scared out of his wits. He hated being put at the center of everything and while this was his execution day, he wished they would have done it with him blindfolded.

He was just yet t adjust to the sunlight hitting his face and fuck, Jungwoo had missed this.

He remembered the times when he and his father had been out hunting the deer while his mother was waiting for them. She was always a happy woman, but right this moment, Jungwoo could tell that his mother was worried sick about him.

Jungwoo looked around the people and he looked at King Nathaniel. The king had a worried look on his face and Jungwoo knew it was because he had just realized that he had sired a child. Anyone in his state would have been shocked.

While Jungwoo truly wanted to blame the king for not showing up for his child, he could see the sincerity and worry on his face. The king never knew he had a child, damn that was the cruelest thing that could have happened to him.

Everyone knew Nathaniel had no heir and right now, he probably was thinking of what he could do to get his child back. Jungwoo didn’t want his sister to be used as a weapon, and he would do everything to protect his little sister.

Then again, it wasn’t like Seojoon would just give his child to him. If the werewolf King, Seojoon, knew that his nemesis and love rival, the vampire king, had a child, and that the child was in Obren, the king would definitely use that against Nathaniel.

Honestly, Jungwoo wasn’t sure he wanted to see his sister at the centre of it all. So as he looked at the king, Jungwoo knew the world would never be the same. Whether he was dead or alive, the vampire king wasn’t going to be okay after this.

’Goddess help us all,’ Jungwoo said as he stared at the king. He wasn’t sure what he expected from Nathaniel but one thing Jungwoo was certain of, was that his kidnapping all those years ago, was because Nathaniel was envious of Seojoon.

It was something to do with their gracious love for Eunbi. Oh, how the parents were the very reasons their children suffered. But would that help with anything today?

"Bring forth the prisoner!!" the king said and Jihoon dragged Jungwo to the pier. He hated this. He wanted to find a way to save the werewolf prince, but if he showed his alpha abilities here, there would be o going back. Their plans would be ruined in ways more than one.

The only thing that would save them was if they had a magical instrument to save their lives, but then Rania had already used the wand they had gotten. What were the chances that the wand would work again?

Jungwoo was worried about his prince.

He didn’t need to be in Jungwoo’s shoes to understand the possible scare the young prince was going through right now. The flames were too scary for life. They scared even the vampires themselves so what more of a werewolf who would be overloaded with wolfsbane?

Alpha Jihoon of Calindra, was looking at Kim Rania, the Incayon alpha, and the craziest alpha in the supernatural world, wondering what the both of them were supposed to do, especially now that it was really happening.

He wished she had an ace up her sleeve because frankly, it was better to deal with Kim Rania’s madness than deal with whatever this was.

The crowd was expectedly huge, and everyone was worried, and as usual the prisoner didn’t even look the least bit worried.

"Here, take him," Jihoon said to Kang Mo Yoo who glared at him.

"Fine whatever," officer Kang said and Jihoon couldn’t help but hold back his laugh. Taking the prisoner to the pier had to be the one job that the warriors of Drarun hated with all they had and didn’t have.

They despised that position so much that they sometimes preferred to be regular warriors then be the person taking the hangman choice.

Jungwoo looked around the crowd that had come to witness him being burnt alive. He could see the worries on the faces of the women and he wondered whether his mother worried for him too, especially considering how long he had been away from home.

He wondered whether there was a chance that these women were against the burning, but then what else could they do anyway?

Looking up again at the king, Jungwoo wondered whether Nathaniel was still contemplating denying the fact that his sister, Yanna, was his child. That would make him a shitty father.

Granted, he may have been absent because he didn’t know of the child but now, Jungwoo had already told him.

Was the great vampire king going to deny that simple fact?

Was he going to leave his child out there in the possible hands of his enemy?

Was he going to leave Yanna in the hope that Eunbi was a good mother to their child? Fuck, that shit made Jungwoo mad, but even worse, it made king Nathaniel curious. But now wasn’t the time for him to be considering such.

Instead, it was the time for him to make this execution real, otherwise, he would be considered a weak king, and the goddess knew the vampires hated to be ruled by a weak master. They may have hated the violence, but they hated vulnerability more than anything else.

Jungwoo didn’t care that he would be dead in less than an hour, what mattered to him was the father seated over there, acting and acknowledging the fact that he had a child. That was all he wanted, for his sister to get even an ounce of her father’s love. Just that.

There were other prisoners who were about to share the same fate as Jungwoo. They were silent too, waiting for their unfortunate ending. They knew it was pointless trying to argue out their cases, because they were guilty and the whole of Drarun knew that.

However, for the werewolf prince of Obren, Jeon Jungwoo, they knew nothing. They didn’t know the man’s crime, even though they knew the man had been in the dungeons longer than they had committed their atrocities.

The only thing the people of Drarun were forced to accept was the fact that anyone who made it to this point of the realm, had to have deserved it.

"All the prisoners here have wronged our home in one way or the other. They had crossed all the levels of humanity, hence deserve the worst of punishments. Officer Kang, light up the fires," King Nathaniel said and Officer Kang nodded at his people to light the pyres up.

The king didn’t want to speak a lot, because if he did, he would give up the fact that for the first time in thirteen years, he wasn’t sure he wanted to burn the love child of Eunbi and Seojoon. Maybe this kid was his only chance to find out more about his child.

Everyone here was so ready to see the worst happen when the scent of three werewolves hit them so hard that they were taken aback.

However, by the time they realized it and saw that they belonged to leader Bai and the prisoner who had been with Jungwoo earlier, the trio had disappeared through a portal, thanks to Rania’s magic wand, again.
