Chapter 54: The Semi-Stop Home

[DRARUN]

"I take back everything I said about you being a normal werewolf alpha. What the hell was that about?" Jihoon asked Rania who just shrugged at him. They had gone through the shaky portal and they now felt like shit, thanks to Rania who looked like she was doing better.

The trio had just escaped the execution of the werewolf prince and frankly, they were happy about it.

"That was awesome though!" Jungwoo said and together, they high-fived each other, as they waited for their foggy brains to settle. This was the only time they would know whether the portal worked or they were still in Drarun.

That would really suck though, considering the amount of effort they had all put in.

"I know right! Hold up, where the hell are we?" Rania asked, and Jihoon facepalmed.

"Where was that portal supposed to take us?"

"The royal palace or home to either of us. This is certainly not the palace of Incayon, so where are we—" Rania asked and Jihoon cut her short with his statement, the realization dawning on all of them and more specifically, Rania.

"Calindra," Jihoon breathed out and Rania let out a sigh. She hadn’t expected this, but then it wasn’t like the Calindra wolves would do to her any worse than Jihoon and Paloma had already done to her. Not to mention the amount of hate she had gotten from her own people.

"That’s cool! You’ll all get to meet my sister. I hope you didn’t harass her, Jihoon, or I’ll kick your ass on her behalf. I may have been away from home, but I still have some skills to kick an alpha’s ass," Jungwoo said excitedly as he took in the surroundings of Calindra.

It was beautiful. The modern houses, the beautiful settings, the element of home, and the atmosphere was so beautiful and Jungwoo was amazed. The sun hitting his face was like a blessing he would never take for granted.

Being in that damned dungeon for all those years had been a lesson enough that he needed to be thankful for the little things. So excitedly, he looked around, taking everything in, and hoping he would never have to leave home.

Sure, this pack was nowhere near the glory that his home held, but it sure was a taste of what home did feel like. He loved it, of course, he wanted to stay at that spot a little longer, but he had a sister to look for.

"Come on, let’s go in!" Jungwoo said when he saw the werewolves looking at them. Some were wearing confused faces while some were plainly angry. At first, Jungwoo thought these people were mad at him, but surely anyone could tell with his aura that he was a royal.

He however didn’t want to cause a ruckus. Maybe these people had a way of dealing with newbies.

"Alpha, you’re back," Jihoon’s beta Lee Daehyun greeted Jihoon excitedly. It was obvious they had a good relationship, and this reminded Rania of Dalrae. She would see her Dalrae, again and this time, she wasn’t worried about the king doing anything shitty.

There was an obvious shift in power in Obren and the royals already knew that one of their own was back. Rania wished she could leave Jihoon and Jungwoo and go home, but she needed to accompany them both to the palace.

She needed to confirm to the king that they had brought back his son and claim their rewards. However, deep down, Rania knew she wouldn’t be getting any rewards. Maybe there would be rewards, but they would be sent to Incayon, and not to her personally.

She was already used to having everything she loved get taken away from her anyway. This time wasn’t going to be any different, unless the sky was green and the ground blue, both of which wouldn’t happen unless there was magic involved.

"Hello, I’m Jeon Jungwoo," the werewolf prince greeted and Daehyun greeted him back with the same enthusiasm. It was obvious that they had gone through enough shit for the morning and needed to get some rest.

"Nice to meet you too, let’s go in," Daehyun said, completely ignoring Rania. It was almost like he didn’t see her.

The others who saw her, were already plotting how to murder her, and sure enough, before Jihoon could say a word to Daehyun, one of the wolves rushed to Rania, a knife in her hands without even caring that they had visitors.

"Murderer! Murderer!" The woman shouted and the rest of the wolves joined in. However, before the woman could stab Rania, Jungwoo caught her arm, and twisted it roughly, making the whole crowd quiet down.

"No one. Absolutely no one, harms my best friend," Jungwoo said, the power in his voice making the werewolves bow. The woman he was holding looked down shamefully, the anger still on her face and her teeth gritted.

"What is wrong with your people?" Jungwoo sighed as he looked at Jihoon. It was almost like Jihoon was running a pack of untethered wolves who had no understanding of how humanity worked. Sure they were wolves, but compassion was important to them all.

"Are you okay, Rani?" Jungwoo asked Rania before he pushed the woman he was holding and threw the knife at a distance. Jihoon had been staring at the fiasco with a neutral face, while Daehyun just stood there in shock.

No one in the werewolf lands had ever stepped up to defend Kim Rania. Not even her very own parents. They had always watched Obren cause their child a lot of pain and did absolutely nothing to defend her.

This was new to them too.

"Yes, I am. Can we just go to the palace and get this over with?" Rania sighed. She was pissed that someone tried to murder her in broad daylight These wolves were growing crazier, but then she understood them.

She had killed their Luna and they were just trying to get the justice that the laws of Obren hadn’t gotten them yet. It was like they were living in a lawless land and that wasn’t fair.

"Why are they calling you a murderer? Did you rough their children again?" Jungwoo asked with a smile, when Rania didn’t say anything. He knew Rania so well. He knew his best friend had the worst kind of a temper and was going to save his people from her.

"Don’t worry, I’ll keep you safe, alright? Besides, you’re like a little sister to me, Rani," Jungwoo said and Alpha Jihoon held back a scoff. It took everything in him not to lash out at Rania right now.

The people of Calindra were still furious with her and it seemed karma was working overtime too. Maybe this was the justice they deserved and had been waiting for for all those years. The universe was responding finally!

"Daehyun, take care of the pack. Make sure they stay calm and remind them that such crude behaviors towards our GUESTS, whether allies or enemies, will never be tolerated," Jihoon said angrily as he looked at his people.

He understood them, but there were more important things to deal with today.

"Alright alpha, where are you going?" Daehyun asked.

"To the king. Our mission is complete. I should be back by evening or tomorrow morning. Take care of our people," Jihoon said as he headed towards the stables with Rania and Jungwoo.
