Chapter 236: In Which The Siblings Face Each Other

[JUNGWOO]

It was all too familiar.

The sight before him was one he could have sworn looked a little too good like his. He had never been one to do at-first-sight things, but here and now, he was finding it really hard not to think of the wolf before him as a female wolf.

He knew that there was only one other person like that and for the love of the goddess, he hoped that it was who he was thinking of. But did ghosts really exist in Obren?

Jungwoo just stood there watching with his jaw on the ground.

Of course, he had imagined that it was all in his head, but the rich black fur that was staring at him, the muzzle he was all too familiar with, the rosy scent that he had gotten from his mother, the slow whimpers, the defeated breaths.

All of it was just so new and yet so familiar it broke the young prince’s heart. He hadn’t imagined that there would come such a day but then there it was and instead of responding to the familiar wolf before him.

"Impossible," The prince finally breathed out as he realized that the warriors were staring at him. He had been too cooped up in his thoughts that he had failed to pay attention to his surroundings.

Maybe it was the shock of seeing his sister, or the realization of how insane this looked.

"No. She won’t shift. I’ll take her myself. Not a word of this to my father. He already has enough to deal with," Jungwoo said to the lord commander and the warriors who were at the gates.

The sight before them wasn’t one they could ever get used to but that didn’t matter. If the wolves knew the identity of the wolf right now they would raise questions.

Maybe it was a good thing that none of the warriors had ever seen Jungwoo shift into his wolf or it would have been hard to explain whatever the fuck was going on here right now.

It was chaos upon chaos but damn, his sister showing back up had to be on the list of the things that Jeon Jungwoo never expected.

"Yes, sire," the lord commander responded and Jungwoo picked up his sister in her wolf form and went with her into the palace, and the chambers that hadn’t been used.

He knew it would be hard hiding a whole werewolf from his father but he had to find a way to make sure that he would be ready for the day when his father realized this.

Hopefully, it wouldn’t be soon because he wasn’t sure he would have earned Yanna’s trust by then.

The moment Yanna’s wolf lay on the bed in the chambers, she shifted into her human form, and goodness she had to be the prettiest woman Jungwoo had ever seen.

Her long black hair that was waist long stares back at her brother, not to mention the way she had transformed and the clothes she had been wearing seemed to pop up too.

Of course, hybrids never shifted naked, thankfully because it would have been awkward.

Jungwoo looked at his sister, marveling at her beauty. It was almost impossible to believe that this pretty woman was the engineer of the chaos that had been in the realm.

She looked like she could fight her battles and the few scars she had did no damage to her beauty. This woman was really beautiful.

"You’ve been staring at me for the past ten minutes, your highness," Yanna spoke when she got uncomfortable with the stares. She wasn’t worried about her safety here and wasn’t worried that the prince could try shit with her.

If he did, she 1ould kill him without thinking twice. At least then the king would kill her instead of Rania. She was okay with dying at the hands of anyone but Kim Rania.

Yanna was worried about herself here, but at the same time, she wanted to feel comfortable. Her life had taken a lot of turns lately and with the palace, maybe she would be a part of the warriors who went to war against Rania.

Then again, would it help anyway?

"What?" Jungwoo asked, snapping out of his trance his mind was plagued with all the possible misfortunes that his sister had faced since her birth. He had heard from Jihoon that his sister was an orphan in the pack.

His sister had grown up without a family, without knowing who she was, and without knowing that she had never really been alone in the world. It was a reality that had evaded Yanna for so long but she had her brother right?

Jungwoo wouldn’t hurt his sister, or would he give her up to Rania? Surely, she couldn’t do that, no?

"My apologies for the intrusion, but I didn’t really know where to go today. I’m sorry. My name is Yanna Petrova, your highness. I’m a hybrid and the former Calindra Luna.

"I know I’m supposed to be dead at the hands of Kim Rania, but she never took my life. Instead, she only stabbed me enough to break the bond I had created with her mate and left me to heal.

"I came to seek refuge in the palace because it is the only safe place I could think of. Alpha Rania slaughtered all the males in Calindra, only sparing Lee Daehyun and Park Jihoon.

"She took them with her as prisoners," Yanna forced out in one breath. She didn’t want there to be any speculations because if she wanted the prince to trust her then she had to come clean.

It wasn’t that hard and the sooner she got it out of the way the sooner she could know if she had a safe place here or if she would be on the run again.

Granted, she didn’t have any options but the ones she had at the moment were too important and she needed to make sure that she either was wanted or not. It wasn’t that hard for her anyway. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"Thank you for saving me and letting me in," Yanna added and Jungwoo looked at his shifter with soft eyes.

He was trying to make sure that she didn’t feel awkward but the official tone she was using with him, told him that she didn’t know that they were related.

Of course, it was impossible to tell her that. They hadn’t known each other for as long as anyone could imagine but right now, Jungwoo could feel his heart breaking at the sight before him.

He wasn’t sure if he needed to be happy his sister was back or if he needed to wait it out first.

"Sure, no problem. You are a werewolf of Obren, and with the war out there, we need to save as many as we can before Kim Rania descends. I am glad you are alive and safe.

"Don’t worry, no one will know that you are here," Jungwoo said and Yanna couldn’t help but agree that this was better than what she had expected.

When she had first heard about the prince coming back she was sure he would be a snob and rich idiot who would show his power everywhere.

But right now, this prince was taking her in and protecting her, and from the party at the festival, she already knew he was gay, and maybe that was also why she felt safe with him.

Then again, Yanna Petrova had never felt safe anywhere as she wasn’t about to start getting comfortable with the crown prince. It may have been too expensive for a girl like her and that wasn’t what she wanted right now.

"Alright, Yanna Petrova, I’ll give you some privacy. There is a guard at the door. If you have any questions or if you need anything, you can ask him and he’ll let me know.

"Don’t worry, you can rest and you’re always going to be safe here, Yanna," Jungwoo added the last bit slowly but the woman heard him.

However, before she could ask any questions, the crown prince left the room and it was just Yanna and her own imaginations that were running wild. The prince was suspicious, but then she didn’t want to think too much of it right now anyway.

"Yeah, Thanks your highness," the hybrid whispered when the door closed.

And her brother heard her too.
