Yujun’s POV

It’s early in the morning and I am set to leave for the council summoning, but Jaehyun won’t get out of my way, the alpha just woke up after I spent the past hour preparing my body and mind to leave.

"Jaehyun, seriously" I sigh and he shakes his head in refusal.

"What do you mean you’re going alone?" he growls as he grabs my elbow and I give him an unimpressed look.

"I mean, I am going to the council alone" I say calmly. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Like hell you are" Jaehyun growls, startling me and I flash my omega eyes at him, warning him to back off but he flashes his own red alpha eyes back at me.

"I can handle this by myself?" I say in a quieter tone, and he shakes his head again this time more slowly, "this doesn’t make any sense, I- I can’t let you" he says.

I want to explode at him and make him let go but I take a deep breath as I feel the whining of his alpha, he is pleading, not demanding.

I put my hand on the back of his neck and pull him down to kiss him gently. "Please..." he whispers, his scent turning sad as he whispers the word.

"I have to, this is my chance to break free...and I can’t have you do it for me again and again, I’m not a prince in distress" I say and a tear slips down his left eye, "fuck" he curses.

"Don’t cry, everything will be okay, okay? I promise everything will be okay" I say, comforting the both of us, "I- what if I just..." he stutters.

"Hwang Jaehyun, I will go alone and I will come back to you" I say firmly and he squeezes his eyes shut like he’s warding away the need to argue.

"Someone has to stay here with Haeri, Yeon mom is working, Yunah is in heat and Gawon is tending to her" I say, showing him why I have to go alone, I do need to face this hurdle on my own.

"I hate not being with you" he says and I chuckle, tears are starting to well up in my eyes, "me too, I hate it so much, but I promise, when I return, I’ll be all yours again" I say and he nods.

The alpha steps back and takes my hand to lead me to Haeri’s room, the pup is sleeping with her hand tucked under her chin, and I lean over cot to draw in the soft baby smell and the scent of warm milk.

"Mommy is coming back soon, I’ll bring back the prettiest toys for you" I whisper, not wanting to wake her up, "I love you so much, be good to daddy and everyone, okay?" I whisper and with Jaehyun behind me, I leave the room.

My alpha helps me with my bag by putting it in the boot before turning to me, his eyes are red, but he doesn’t try to argue again, he just waits quietly and I get into the car.

He keeps his hands stuffed in his pocket and his head bowed.

Two days...max three, I will be back and...oh fuck it.

I get out of the car and throw myself on Jaehyun for a kiss, the kiss is deep and like a marking as he keeps one arm round my waist to press me to him.

He breaks the kiss for a second to nose at my scent gland, whining loudly as he draws my scent, and my Adam apple bobs as I swallow, letting him scent me.

"Come back quick, okay? Promise me you’ll come back quickly" he says desperately and I nod twice.

"Of course I will, I have nothing better to do" I say and the cold wind of the morning blows around us, making his hair fly around.

"We need to get you a hair cut soon" I say and push his hair back enough to see his forehead, is it legal for a man to look this handsome at six in the morning?

"I’ll wait till you get back" he says and I nod, standing on my tip toe to kiss him once before getting into the car.

The alpha keeps standing in the driveway as I am driven away.

The trip from Hwangyeon to the city airport is slower and quieter, giving me time to sleep a bit and tutor myself into boldness.

At the airport I hug my bag and wait, watching how people are going with the flow of the day, I will have time to panic soon but for now I’ll just enjoy my day...watching the smiles of normal people going about their day.

While I wait, I spot two teenage boys talking at a distance and pointing at me, I act as if I don’t see them until one of them eventually comes to me with a shy look on his face.

"Hello" he greets with bow and I respond with a bow.

"Hello" I say, keeping my face warm even though I feel tired right now.

"Actually...we aren’t so sure but...are you Choi Yujun-ssi of Choi enterprise and Hwang estates?" he asks and I relax.

He knows me by the fake establishment my mafia family appears in public by.

"Yes, is everything okay?" I ask and he smiles widely.

"I wanted to say, you are so bad ass for ousting Chan-ssi, that doctor was so strange and-and my brother, he presented an omega" he says with so much excitement that he forgets to breathe, and my eyes fly to the other boy that is standing at a distance with his head down.

"He has been ashamed about it and hiding it, but since the public announcement that you are an omega and that you are taking charge of a lot of things, Sehunnie has become more confident" he says and I feel my heart melt.

The fight for my life wasn’t a waste.

"I’m so glad Sehunnie feels more confident, tell him I’m rooting for him" I say and ruffle the boy’s hair; I see the way his eyes widen with awe.

"Woah! You’re so cool, thank you hyung, I can call you hyung right?" he asks and I nod, still smiling.

"See you around Sehun" I call as I leave to board the plane.

Maybe fighting for my life wasn’t a bad thing after all...
