Chapter 235: Maybe Home Was Safer, Right?

[YANNA]

"Run, Yanna, Run. And Don’t let me catch you," Kaia Seto had said to the women who had been on the road for over a week. She had done just what she had been told. She had run and run, and she had run.

Oh, but Yanna Petrova had walked through bushes and tried to hide her scent in all the ways she could, but even then, she still couldn’t help the feeling that Kaia Seto was close by.

There was a reason Kaia had managed to be the most feared creature in the realm. Now here she was, tired as fuck. She had run out of options, literally and the only thing that she had in her mind right now, was Drarun.

It was the only place that seemed safe enough for her to be in, but would they even know who she was? Hell, who was she even?

Yanna was scared of Kaia Seto.

She had failed to get Chang Wook on her side and now she had to deal with the rough edges of a life she had gotten herself into.

What had been fun for her like fucking with Rania’s mind and everyone she loved had somehow gotten her to this point.

’If I go to Drarun, they will find me as that is the home of everyone who is a vampire,’ Yanna reasoned when she was tired. She wished there was a place she could go to that wouldn’t want her dead.

She hoped that someone would come to her aid, but then she had no one. She didn’t have a brother or a sister. She didn’t have anyone to call her woman and she was scared of even facing that truth.

Jihoon, who could have pitied her, was a prisoner of Kim Rania along with the beta.

Rania had single-handedly ruined the life of the mate she hated and loved and Yanna knew that there was no hope that Rania would ever forgive her, the woman who had started the chaos.

So defeatedly and with no one to go to, Yanna chose the new place that was easily the deadliest of places at the moment.

The Obren palace.

She wasn’t sure how she was going to convince the wolves to let her in and that she wasn’t a ghost, but she had to find a way. The palace was the only place that she could consider a haven for her, and from Rania.

Granted, Rania and her brother had come to the palace and attacked, but there were no rumors of any attacks on the palace after them. Even the rogues who had their treaty fucked weren’t fighting the palace just yet.

And so for the first time in a really really long time, Yanna Petrova shifted into her huge black wolf and ran to the palace. With her hybrid speed, she would be able to reach the palace in a few hours.

She honestly preferred to be at the mercy of the people of Obren, as long as Kim Rania wasn’t part of that group of people.

The only person that scared her shitless right now was none other than the woman she had messed with. Maybe if she hadn’t messed with Rana, she would have been in a better position, right?

Hours upon hours, Yanna Petrova put one paw in front of the other and made her way to the palace. She hoped that life wouldn’t be the hardest there. She had skills she could offer the king.

She had a power that she could share with the king, but then even with all that power, she was useless against Kim Rania. Rania was easily Yanna’s greatest fear.

"Shift!" the new lord commander at the palace gates said when Yanna made it to the front gates. She looked like she had had a rough day and a rough run.

Instead of the expected five hours that she should have taken on the road, Yanna had spent two hours between where she had been and the palace. She was tired as hell and could feel her paws hurting.

She wasn’t even strong enough to shift back into her human form. So she just stopped there and watched the warriors with tired eyes.

Of course, she knew that if she didn’t shift they would either abandon her or take her in and keep her in the dungeons. But frankly, that didn’t matter to Yanna right now.

As long as she was not in a place that Kim Rania could easily access, she was safe. That was her only desire at the moment. She had lost so much that she wasn’t even sure what was right or wrong anymore.

The only thing that was on her mind was the palace walls. She didn’t mind being a servant for the rest of her life, as long as the king promised to keep Rania away. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

However, that was a long gamble, given the king himself had been bested by that same woman. Anyone would think that with the tripled armies they would be able to fend off Kim Rania, but then they wouldn’t, and the king knew that too.

Maybe that explained why the warriors were constantly switched and had masks on their heads to prevent them from being marked as targets by Kim Rania.

Oh, but Rania was the fear of so many in that period.

"Should we tell the king about this wolf?" one of the warriors asked the lord commander and he just shook his head.

If the king knew that there was a wolf at the gates, he would question everything. He would even think that the wolf was sent by Rania.

Then again, it wasn’t hard to tell that everyone in the realm was either scared of Rania, hated Rania, or wanted their daughters to grow up and be powerful like Rania.

Funny how the Kims had been so quick to abandon her when right now he was the marvel of the realm in all the good and terrible ways. Son, things would be alright, right?

"I’ll notify the prince. He said to do that. Meanwhile, step back in. We don’t want the wolf attacking us," the lord commander said as she shut the gates before Yanna.

Of course, this was to be expected, but then again, Yanna wasn’t sure if she would be able to sway Jeon Jungwoo into taking her in. It was too huge a gamble but it was one that she had to take.

This was the only place she could even die with dignity if that was the sentence the king had seen fit for her.

"What do you mean there’s a lone wolf at the gates?" Jungwoo asked the lord commander when he received the news. It just didn’t make any sense to him. Besides, it wasn’t daily that the palace got such strange visitors.

It was just insane to some extent, but what else could be done?

"It’s hard to tell if the wolf is a female or male, my prince. All we know is that the wolf came and just sat at the gates.

"No matter what we did, the wolf didn’t do anything," the lord commander said and Jungwoo figured that it wouldn’t hurt to go check out the wolf.

However, when he got to the gates, the young prince wasn’t sure whether he needed to let out tears of joy or panic because of the possible truth that was headed their way.

"No way?!"
