Chapter 234: The Raven’s Call

[DRARUN]

"Sire, a raven was sent from Calindra," Officer Kang Mo Yoo said to the vampire king when he reached them. They hadn’t imagined that there would be a raven from the very pack that had been hosting their own.

Maybe it was because of Jihoon and because Park Jihoon had fought for his daughter’s freedom until the very end, but damn, the king wasn’t sure what he was supposed to make of this.

"What does it say?" the king asked and the officer looked at him as if to tell the dangerous king that he hadn’t read the message yet.

"Fine, bring it to my chambers," Nathaniel said to Officer Kang before turning to his brother, "you want to listen to the news or you’ll be running your errands?"

It may have been a question but there was a hint of mischief, like the king was telling his brother that this was a chance to decide whether Kim Rania was a threat that they didn’t want to deal with or even use the Seto brothers to help them.

But then again, Bai Ting was curious too.

He wanted to understand so badly how a woman would have managed to impact the realm in so many ways like that.

It was unheard of and as much as they wanted to pretend like things were alright, nothing would be alright in a really long time for them. And the sooner they faced that reality, the sooner they started preparing.

"I’m coming along," Leader Bai said before he looked at the high guard officer beside them.

Ever since the incident with Rania and Jihoon in the Drarun dungeons, Leader Bai had been a little too strict with office Kang.

Sure, they had never once been on the wrong side of each other, but it wasn’t hard to tell that their being bested by three wolves had fucked up their brans especially given that one of them had been the very woman who had murdered their own.

It was complicated, but they would soon find a way to balance it all, right?

When they got to the king’s study room, the three men sat and waited. Office Kang handed the message to the king, and from the reaction that King Nathaniel was having, it wasn’t good news.

"Calindra has been attacked. Yanna Petrova was alive and came with an army to save us all. We don’t know how she survived all those years ago, but this time, she was murdered.

"Calindra needs the help of the vampires to go to war against Incayon. The men are all dead. Only the women are left.

"No one knows where Alpha Park Jihoon and the Calindra beta are, but the last that was heard of them, they were prisoners of Kim Rania. Please send us help.

"My husband, the former alpha, Taeho died five days ago because of the injuries he got from the war. Rania murdered our beloved, again.

"The women and children of Calindra are living in the caves and move every two days for fear that Kim Rania will come and finish the job or send other nutjobs to do it for her.

"Someone has to avenge our fallen and we hope to agree with the vampire king. If you agree, please meet me at the western border of Obren. We are going north, to the people’s palace.

"Though we aren’t sure the werewolf king will take us in. Please help us. Regards, Luna Park. The Calindra Luna," the letter read and the vampire king had to read it thrice to confirm what he had heard again.

His daughter had survived and had been murdered again?

Everyone in Calindra was really dead save for the women? How the fuck were women supposed to live and even survive? This was hectic and there was blood on the piece of paper.

Clearly, there was so much pain linked to this.

Murders had started being expensive but the one that hurt the most was the one that spoke of his daughter being alive, and his daughter dying again, in the hands of the same woman from before.

Maybe Jeon Jungwoo had been right to call Nathaniel a useless father.

He had once again failed his child while he wallowed in the idea to avenge his only heir.

The vampire king had once again been too busy plotting to avenge someone who was alive and now that he had been told she was dead for real.

The vampire king felt his heart break into pieces once again. He couldn’t take this anymore. His little girl had once again suffered and it was all because of Rania.

"Do you still think it’s a terrible idea to reach out to Kaia Seto, brother?" King Nathaniel asked his brother who had been listening carefully like he was hoping that there was a hidden message in the letter.

He was hoping that the world wasn’t as cruel as the letter read and maybe he was hoping that Kim Rania wasn’t as brutal as had been mentioned before. But there and now, even Bai Ting couldn’t say no to his brother.

"No brother, Officer Kang will send scouts to the Obren border to see what else is going on there. He will also take a few more men and get a look for Kaisei Seto. You and I will be here to strategize.

"Rania must fall," Bai Ting said, the pain in his heart for the girl who had been murdered twice so intense that he could have walked out with warriors and led them against Rania.

However, they had to think and plan well because Rania was slowly proving to be a powerful woman and a nuisance to many at the same time.

They were already worried and yet right now the only thing they had was the truth that Kim Rania was not about to stop anytime soon.

"Yes sire," Officer Kang said before he left to enforce his orders. He didn’t want to be slow on the resorts and there was no telling whether Kim Rania would come to Drarun.

It wasn’t yet clear what Rania had against the vampire king, but there was a chance that the woman would be walking across the realm and burning homes to the ground.

So far, the only safe places in the realm were the Valley of the Whites, Altunia, and Incayon pack. Only those three and everyone else could be damned.

"She was alive and now she is dead? Who do I believe, brother? Who do I believe?" Nathaniel asked his brother who was sitting in silence.

Everything was just too suspicious. But what else was there for him to do when he didn’t even have enough information? Maybe the informants that he had sent out would be able to give him the data he wanted.

He just had to be patient before he acted on that intel.

"I don’t think Luna Park is lying, because her pack was literally cleared out. She is a desperate woman and she wouldn’t prey on any emotions at the moment. But we still have to wait for the intel.

"Meanwhile, are you up for a spar?" Bai Ting said and his brother nodded as they looked at each other.

This was a really tempting time and one wrong move and they would all be on the side of hell, but wasn’t that there they were all headed anyway?
