Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 149: I Guess, I’ll See You Around
[INCAYON]
"He’s carrying her bridal style. I called it. Now you guys are on kitchen duty!" Rania cheered excitedly, while the rest of her friends groaned in frustration. They all had wishes, but seeing their only chance dissipate into thin air, they knew they couldn’t win this one. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Really Chang Wook? This was our only chance to get Rani to do the dishes," Oshita pouted as he glared at Chang Wook, though it came off as a tiny out that didn’t get the message long enough, at least for them.
"What... It’s not like I expected her to keep calling me Kim. She knows I hate that name, but she just won’t let it go," Chang Wook complained as he set Dalrae down carefully, like he didn’t want to hurt her.
"Thank you, KIM," Dalrae said with a laugh as she walked over to where Rani was, and high-fived her best friend.
"See what I’m talking about?" Chang Wook defended as he looked helplessly at the best friends.
Yanna, who had been watching from a distance, couldn’t believe the sight before her. The deadly man who had been feared by everyone barely minutes ago, was actually winning and getting all soft in front of their little dysfunctional family?
This was strange.
Seeing Rania this happy felt illegal and yet at the same time, Yanna knew that the woman deserved the happiness more than anyone who had come to the damn festival today.
From a newbie’s point of view, this group of friends were just happy, trying to get through the festival while playing games and pulling pranks on each other. At this moment, they were all whining about their botched plan to make Rani do the dishes.
However, from the perspective of someone who knew them all individually, this was easily the best squad of the worst psychos and murderers, a ruthless bunch of rogues from different factions who did well to make everyone feel their wrath in the worst of ways.
It was confusing, even for Yanna and she was tempted to walk in there and ask them what the hell this was. Then again, she knew that she wouldn’t survive this time, if she just walked in there like it was all a beautiful reunion.
They would probably ruin her in the worst of ways and leave her to choke on her blood. Oh, but they were scary.
Sighing, Yanna figured that this wasn’t her palace. So she decided to make her way for the group. Their happiness was making her miserable and there was only so much she could take in anyway.
"Going somewhere?" Rania’s voice came off as a whisper in Yanna’s ears and for a moment, she thought she was hallucinating. She was sure there was just no way that Kim Rania had seen her, let alone known that she was here with her brother, right?
Then again, Rani didn’t seem to know that Chang Wook was her older brother, so that didn’t faze her.
Of course over the years, Rania had considered Chang Wook as her best friend, and since Chang Wook never came forward with his last name, Rania offered to give him her last name.
This also explained why they were not fazed when Dalrae had called Chang Wook by his last name.
It wasn’t a surprise to them, right?
"Jeez, so now I’m hearing things," Yanna said to herself as she walked further and further away from Rania’s group of friends. However, instead of her not hearing the voice, she could feel a blade trail from her ear to her shoulder and that caught her attention.
"Oh, are you now?" Rania suddenly materialized in front of Yanna, making the woman gasp in shock. She hadn’t expected Kim Rania to be standing there, in front of her, with a beautiful smile like this was just another day in the realm.
"You? Here?" Yanna asked and Rania let out a scoff.
"Me? Here?" Rania said in a mocking tone, making Yanna feel like she was boxed in. Rania had never once smiled at her or even talked to her like someone she knew. Instead, Kim Rania had always looked at her like she was a little piece of shit.
Well, it wasn’t hard to understand that, given what Yanna had put Rania through, but then being this close with the woman and seeing her in front of her, was something else. And clearly, Yanna hadn’t imagined that it would be this soon.
She had been hoping to get the stranger on board, but then as it was, the stranger ended up being Kim Rania’s brother. All of this was hectic.
"What do you want with me?" Yanna asked as she straightened up, as if to tell Rania that she wasn’t going to go down without a fight, which wasn’t now since Rania had always wanted a worthy competitor and fighter.
There was so much that Rania wanted to do and say to Yanna, but seeing the woman’s horrified face was enough satisfaction for her for the night.
She wanted to make things more interesting, but given she knew how hard Dalrae worked to make the festival a reality, Rania had promised herself she wouldn’t do anything to make the day any worse.
She was going to see to it that the festival went on as planned and nothing ruined it, not even Yanna’s face.
"I don’t want anything FROM you, Yanna dear. I just came to say, I’ll see you soon. For now, enjoy the festival, hmm? Have fun alright," Rania said as she patted Yanna’s back softly as if to encourage her to have fun.
It was weird, really weird but Yanna knew she wasn’t in the position to even question the psychotic woman who was smiling at her like today was just another day.
"I’ll see you around, Yanna dear," Rania said to Yanna, while playing casually with a sharp knife as if to tell her that soon enough the knife would have a target, even if it wasn’t today.
Yanna watched helplessly as Rania walked back to where her friend was. She was pissed and the fact that she couldn’t do shit about it at this festival made her feel like things were just not working in the way she wanted them to.
Then again, she had promised to kill Rania the next time they had met, but why was she the one scared of the woman? Why did it make her feel like her world was slowly closing in on her? What was she even supposed to make of what Rania had said to her?
"I won’t lose to her, not this time," Yanna said determinedly as she headed toward where she had last seen Jihoon.
Maybe it was time for her to show Rani who had the power between them, right? But the bigger question was, would Kim Rania ever care for what Yanna did anyway?
Would she be as affected as she had once been before hell showed its face to her?
What was the reassurance of it all?
"You’re real," Jihoon’s voice interrupted Yanna’s line of thoughts making the woman sigh defeatedly.
"You two mates won’t let me live through this damn festival, will you, huh?" Yanna thought angrily as she glared at Jihoon while she struggled to catch a breath.
"Two mates? Who are you talking about?" Jihoon asked and this time Yanna looked at him, wondering if she had spoken out loud.
She had.
