Chapter 133: To Trust Or Not To

[JIHOON]

"—And one last question, where the hell am I? And what do you plan on doing with me?" Daehyun asked as he breathed out finally. He could feel his head hurting, because of what Yanna had done to knock him out, but he could whine about that later.

At the moment, he had more pressing issues, besides, he wanted to be sure he wasn’t hallucinating again. He wasn’t in his right mind, most of the time and he wanted to know if this right here was just another day filled with his gracious misfortunes.

"I need answers about Rani and as much as you would blatantly deny that you don’t have them. I believe you have the answers I seek. Somewhere in that mind of yours are the answers I seek.

"So which is it going to be, Daehyun?" Yanna asked and Daehyun just looked at the woman like she had finally gone bonkers.

"You hold me in high regard, Yanna. But I hate to be the one to break it to you. Rania and I have nothing in common other than the fact that she hated Jihoon with every ounce of her. It is crazy but if you ask me, that is all I have and know.

"Whoever told you I had information about Rania lied to you. You should start looking for better sources," Daehyun said sincerely as he looked at the woman before him.

Whatever was going on here was strange and while Daehyun was tempted to stay and ask more questions, he had a brother he needed to take care of. He had a brother who needed him and one he needed to show up for. And that is what he was going to do.

Besides, he would always choose Jihoon over any woman in his life, right?

"A half cannot truly hate that which makes it complete," Yanna said and Daehyun just let out a lonely laugh.

"Is that why you cast him aside even though all he ever did was love you? He lived for you, he did everything, for you. He looked forward to his mornings, because you were there. And when Rania killed you, he was at a loss.

"He set out for vengeance against Rania, and even then he didn’t get his closure. Now that you’re here, shouldn’t you at least go to him and free him of the pain?

"I know by now you already know he burnt away everything that reminded him of you, because even though you’re alive here, he thinks you are dead. He thinks of you and it has hurt him for a while," Daehyun argued sincerely on his best friend’s behalf.

He knew that what Yanna was doing wasn’t fair and there wasn’t much that could be done unless Yanna stepped up. But how was he supposed to tell Yanna that Jihoon needed him ever so desperately?

How was he supposed to explain to this woman right here that his friend’s life had taken a toll on him for years after her death? Would she believe him, and even if she did, would she go back to Jihoon and have her happily ever after with him?

"Like I said, a half cannot truly hate that which makes it whole. By now you have already figured out that Jihoon and I were never true mates. In fact we never shared the common shit that mates did. He was the alpha and I was the luna.

"It was all some show for the people of Calindra, and more than anything, it was a farce I had set up for Rania. It was the greatest show of my life and yet all that Rania could afford was nothing other than to watch us like the helpless woman I had turned her into.

"Surely you must have noticed that too, no? And if that evaded you, you must have seen your brother didn’t experience shit when I died—’’ Yanna continued and Daehuyun just glared at her as if to tell her that she needed to use her brains even this once.

It couldn’t be that hard for her, right?

"—I know common sense is something that you refuse to use, but did it ever occur to you, amid your apparent delusions about Kim Rania, that the alpha didn’t go through hell and back because you actually never died?" Daehyun said angrily.

He was so done with this woman and frankly. He hoped that Rania could finish her off one more time so they wouldn’t have to play pretend when all the woman here ever did was hurt his best friend.

"But that’s the thing, Daehyun. I was dead for six months. In all that time, I was a corpse in this very cabin. I was dead and Rania knew it. My heart stopped and the links are cut. We all know what happens when someone’s mate dies, so why didn’t Jihoon mourn me then?

"Even if I was a hybrid, I had died, and the line of Vampires I had sired had also died. So don’t you sit there and tell me that your brother didn’t know I was dead. I died until Kim Rania brought me back to life.

"That wanker killed me and brought me back to life just because she could," Yanna said and Daehyun just stared at the woman like she was finally deluded.

This all sounded like some far-fetched story that Yanna had tried to piece up to explain her negligence and absence and frankly, Daehyun was done listening to her.

"Listen... I don’t know what you want me to do with the information you gave me. But if you want me to feel sorry for you, then sure. I do feel sorry for you, that you even believe that you weren’t Jihoon’s true mate.

"I feel sorry that you got fucked up one too many times and yet you believe that the woman who killed you brought you back to life. I don’t know if Rania cared that much, but then if she did, then you must have meant a great deal; to her or whatever she was planning.

"But as you can see, Obren is peaceful. Kim Rania is banished. Jihoon doesn’t have a reason to seek her out anymore because she is a rogue and after the ten years are over, she won’t be allowed back into Obren.

"Whatever happens, Rania is out of Incayon and Obren’s hair. And if you need more proof, her parents disowned her, her best friends spite her, and she has nothing to come back to here. She wanted the trial, she got it.

"Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a best friend to save before the Odelia troll consumes him just because you decide to play us and knock him out," Daehyun said as he began walking out of the cabin.

He didn’t know where they were, but he knew he could shift into his wolf and follow his own trail that had led him here. Maybe then he would get back to his best friend on time.

"Well you can leave, I won’t stop you. But do know we will meet again sometime in the future and you might be proven wrong," Yanna said and Daehyun just scoffed.

"You need to take your medicine."

"I will, but remember... A half cannot truly hate that which makes it whole," Yanna said and Daehyun walked out, leaving her behind.

He had to get to Jihoon and fast, before nightfall.
