Chapter 132: Questions and More Questions

[JIHOON]

"What the fuck are you doing here?... Scratch that... You... You’re alive?" Daehyun asked worriedly.

Clearly, he hadn’t expected that he would ever see Yanna again. The woman was dead and the whole of Calindra had mourned her. Hell, shit had gone sideways, and suddenly she was showing up, and that too, alive?

"Goodness woman, where the hell have you been, all this time? Do you know what kind of shithole we have all been in because Rania killed you? Speaking of which, how the hell did you survive Kim Rania?

"I’ve fought with that woman and she never leaves anyone alive, unless she wants t—" Daehyun began and Yanna just smiled at him creepily, as she watched his face contort when the realization hit him.

"I knew you were smart, Calindra beta," Yanna responded with a permanent smirk on her face, before she knocked the poor man out. He was of no use to her at the moment because he didn’t have the one thing that could get her to the woman she wanted.

Kim Rania.

"If only I knew why she let me live," Yanna whispered as she grabbed Daehyun by his waist and threw him over her shoulder. She was a hybrid, thus stronger than most wolves and yet even then there was only one woman who threatened her very existence.

Yanna was curious to know what Rania wanted with her and why she had let her live, but over the past few years, she had failed to get her answers. In fact, she had been a little too shocked when Rania had gone through with the lunar trial.

That was the final nail on the coffin of Yanna’s worries.

She knew she was done for, because Kim Rania was not just any woman, and she knew Kim Rania never did things just for the sake of it. Yanna needed answers and maybe, just maybe the alpha would be able to give them to her, right?

Yanna walked south of the border for thirty minutes with Daehyun on her back. She didn’t care that the Calindra alpha was left alone on the road to Incayon. She had seen the man and frankly, Jihoon was too tired to even know where he was

There were chances that he would wake up in a week’s time or even four days at least. That much, Yanna was sure of, after all, she had added a little something to the gas that had been released when Jihoon burnt down the pack house.

It was a kind of gas that would only affect Park Jihoon, so Yanna wasn’t worried about being suspected. But then again it wasn’t like they could suspect a woman they knew was dead anyway.

Besides, Jihoon would be okay, that was one thing that Yanna knew of. She still cared for the man, even though right now, she was scared shitless of making a claim on the woman because of her fear that Kim Rania would pop up and make her life harder.

Rania was the only person in the realm that Yanna was scared of, and that drove her nuts, given hybrids were supposed to be stronger and faster. They were supposed to be unstoppable, so one wolf girl besting her hadn’t exactly been her expectation.

"Wake up," Yanna said as she roughly dropped Daehyun to the floor. They were finally at her shelter, one of the old cabins that were abandoned a few miles south of Calindra. That was the place Yanna had been staying in for a while now.

She had lost track of time on how long she had been there, but she knew it was a really long time.

"Get the fuck up. I’m not here to see your dumb face for any longer than I plan to," Yanna said as she kicked Daehyun in the stomach, something that woke the beta up instantly.

The pain was intense and he felt like returning the blow, but Daehyun knew that this wasn’t the time or the place for that. He had to know what this woman wanted with him and Jihoon.

"You’re as courteous as ever, I see. Where am I? And where is the alpha?" Daehyun asked as he looked around. He could see how clean the cabin was and raised a brow.

For a woman who had been dead for five years, this place sure looked like home. It was beautiful and confusing at the same time, because Daehyun couldn’t quite understand why the woman had been alive all this time and never showed her face to them.

It wasn’t like Jihoon could have rejected her, no?

"Which questions do you want me to answer first, huh?" Yanna asked as she sat on one of the couches.

Daehyun realized that he wasn’t tied up, which made him look at the woman in the same room as him.

The Yanna he had known of was a fighter and one who always caused trouble, but this one was a little too relaxed, almost like they had gone through the worst and there wasn’t anything that could top her situation at the moment.

Perhaps he was being delusional, but this right here looked like a situation that no prisoner was ever in. Daehyun had learned that he wasn’t the woman’s prisoner, and that meant that they could talk like civil people, right?

"Where’s the alpha?" Daehyun asked, seeing as he couldn’t sell Jihoon anywhere near them. The alpha himself wasn’t in the right state to be alone out there, not to mention the fact that Jihoon had promised Alpha Park that he would take care of Jihoon.

Funny how he couldn’t even tell where he himself was, let alone where his brother and best friend was. Maybe, he would get the answers, but how true would they be? How else would he even know whether Yanna was being truthful with her?

"Passed out on the road to Incayon. If it helps, I kinda stuffed him in the grass, and covered him like a dead body. He won’t be waking up anytime soon. The earliest he can wake up is in four days and by then, I shall either have my answers or you would be dead.

"So do you have any more questions before I start asking mine?" Yanna asked and Daehyun looked at the woman like she was insane. How she was so calm about everything made Daehyun wonder what had happened to the woman.

"Why did Rania leave you alive?" Daehyun asked, before correcting himself.

"I don’t mean that in a rude way, but then we both know that Rania never leaves anyone alive. Besides at the royal council, she had made it known that she targeted you with a dark object that killed you instantly.

"Seeing you alive, and in front of me right now, is creepy and messes with my mind. Did you cut a deal with her? If so, was that why she agreed to proceed with the Lunar trial despite knowing the repercussions?

"Was that why she didn’t even bother to fight anymore? And even then, why would she get herself the worst punishment in the realm when she hadn’t committed the murder? It just doesn’t make any sense.

"—And one last question, where the hell am I? And what do you plan on doing with me?" Daehyun asked as he breathed out finally. He could feel his head hurting, because of what Yanna had done to knock him out, but he could whine about that later.
