[ALTUNIA]

"Hold up, what did you just say????" Oshita asked, clearly not expecting that there would ever come such a day.

He had always known that Rania’s mate had to be powerful but to hear that Jihoon of Calindra was RAnia’s mate, made Oshita want to punch things. It made him want to rush back to Paloma and question his queen about so many things.

Of course, when they were in front of everyone, Oshita and Paloma were like a queen and her subject, but away from all the eyes, they were just friends who had managed to build the rogue empire from scratch.

"I asked her that to, and you know what your queen said? ’Rania’s been protecting that which she wouldn’t and it cost her everything and even then, she still chose to protect it.’

"I don’t even know what she means by that, but I assume it has to be very important if she had to keep it for you too. Anyway, I’m off to Incayon and figure out a way to meet Rani on time," Alpha Dalrae said and Oshita just nodded absentmindedly.

Now that Oshita thought of all the interactions with Rania and her hatred for the man, he felt like it was finally justified. Granted, they had always supported Rania even when she was psychotic and wanted to kill so many, but their loyalty had never once labored. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

However, hearing that Jihoon was her true mate, broke Oshita’s heart. He had gone through hell when he had lost Doronjo in the hands of Kawika, but damn, Rania was strong. That was the only explanation that Oshita could get out of this.

He himself had gone crazy when his Doronjo had died and he had done shit that forced Rania to banish him, and yet even then, Rania was already nursing a broken heart. She had watched her mate stand up for someone else and even went to trial for it.

She had gone through hell and back and all the while, her mate was standing on the other side of the gun that had rained bullets in her. Even then she hadn’t once told the man that they had been mates.

Maybe there was a justification for Rania’s psychotic state. However as he watched Dalrae and Kylian walk through the gates of Altunia and back to their pack, Oshita swore to go to war for Rani if ever she came calling.

He swore to never let her be in pain forever. And he swore to be her brother and protect her. He would stand up for her, when the world was against her. He would defend her when she was alone and he would ruin everyone who tried to hurt her.

He had always wondered what it was that made Rani special, but this time he didn’t even need to think hard, because he had made his choice. He just hoped that she was okay and free from the ra that she had gotten herself into.

"She went and placed herself in that trap to make the bastard feel pain. She is in so much pain that physical pain makes her feel better," Chang Wook had said to Rani’s friends when he had reported her missing.

They had come to help him but he had insisted that he would find her, And sure enough, he had found the woman comfortably hurt in the hunter’s trap. She had walked there knowingly. She had seen the trap and never once considered that it would have been terrible for her wolf.

Instead, she had let herself get caught.

Rania was in so much pain that it was hurting even her friends.

Oshita felt his heart break for the tenth time in the free minutes he had been standing there. He had wished that there was something they could do for Rani, but hearing what Dalrae had just said had proven what everyone had known.

Rania needed her mate.

Sure, she wasn’t going to walk to Jihoon and tell him that she was his mate, but her wolf needed him. Only he could get her out of that state, but what could they do when Jihoon himself had been the one who had forced her out of the lands?

It hurt and Oshita punched the nearest wall, ignoring the rumbling that followed. He needed to get a break, so he went to the Altunia gym, where he conveniently found his queen punching things like her life depended on it.

"You knew he was her mate, right?" Oshita asked Paloma who kept on punching the bag before her.

However, from Oshita’s count of the bags on the ground, Paloma had ruined more than thirty punching bags, and it seemed she was running out of them. She was frustrated and Oshita truly understood her.

"And yet it didn’t make any difference. She was always out to protect him, saving him, always looking out for him when he had done nothing but cause her pain more than once. Tell me something, how can a man be so stupid not to identify his true mate?

"Imagine the horror that would unfold if Rani realizes that while Yanna was messing with her mate bond, Jihoon had also been the one who sent all those fake mates to her.

"How many times does Rani have to be broken and hurt because of one man, huh?" Paloma asked as she punched the bag so hard it fell off and hit the wall with so much force that the chandeliers in the gym did shake.

"Wow. He really is a piece of work, huh? I wonder why we can’t even make him surfer," Oshita argued as he loaded a punching bag on the waiting lever.

He was sick of everything that Rania was going through and it seemed like the more they knew about what was happening to Rani, the more they would all turn into worse ferals. It wasn’t the most comforting thing, but then it wasn’t like they had many options to work with.

"The mating ceremony is coming up, and rumor has it that Incayo will be holding the ceremony. Incayon will be at the center of the ceremony one again and the whole of Obren will be watching, and selecting mates—

"—While Rani would be suffering out there as her bastard of a mate gets the chance to take a pick of the women he could have fun with. Goddess, that man makes me have anger issues," Paloma said frustratedly.

The more she thought of Rania and Jihoon and their cursed fate, the more she was convinced that the goddess was a dumb bitch. The woman had done so much damage to the two mates and yet it seemed like she wasn’t even done with them.

Each day they were always preparing themselves for the worst of news, and the woman never disappointed them.

"Can’t we really do anything? I mean sure, we can’t go after Jihoon directly because Rani will be mad at us, but can’t we trick the man into a war and kick his ass on her behalf?" Oshita asked helplessly and Paloma just looked at her beta, like he was inane.

Of course, the idea was beautiful and smart, but then this was Rania’s mate they were going to be up against, a man who she had protected with her life more than once even when the bastard talked shit to her.

It wasn’t like they would be making small talk with the bastard no, would they?

"No, Oshita. Unfortunately, despite all the endless times I tried convincing Rani to let us punish him, she keeps thinking that he was also a victim. And that makes me even more furious.

"The man didn’t go through the shit that a rejected mate goes through and now he stands a chance to get another mate thanks to what Yanna had done. I honestly don’t know how much patience I have left in me, seriously," Paloma argued and Oshita just sighed.

This wasn’t even going to help but maybe things would change especially now that they were aware that Alpha Park Jihoon of Calindra was Kim Rania’s mate.

"I will be patient and wait to see what Rani does, but if he hurts her again, I will kill him myself, even if Rani will kill me," Oshita said angrily as he went back to punching things while thinking of the frustrating mating festival.

’Who even suggested Incayon for the festival?’ Paloma asked herself as she joined her beta.

They would just have to wait and see.
