Chapter 108: The First of The Hits

[RANIA]

[Two months later]

Everything in Obren was going on so well. The alphas were at peace and the packs were no longer rebelling against the crown. If anything, the wolves were having more trust in the crown. It was like the lid of misunderstanding had been lifted and now they could get on with what they wanted.

There was peace in the facts surrounding Obren too and strangely, Odelia hadn’t attacked anyone. Maybe Rania had finally gotten to her, or maybe it was because Dalrae had told her to hold off until Rania came back.

At Incayon everything was alright too. Dalrae had gone quiet, like she didn’t even exist, but she existed. She had become the unseen alpha, but one that no one in their right mind would ever try pissing off.

She had grown cold, her smile had disappeared, and her happiness was aint. The only thing that kept her going was the promise her sister had made to her months ago, the promise to meet her every three months.

It was a promise that Dalrae hoped to the goddess Rania kept, because otherwise, Dalrae would leave Incayon and go seek her out. It wouldn’t be hard because Dalrae knew who to go to first. She wouldn’t hesitate to go in to Paloma to seek help.

It had just been two months and they are undoubtedly the longest months in Dalrae’s life. She had been thinking of what had happened and why Rania had killed Yanna. Everything just never made sense and the more Dalrae thought about it, the more she was tempted to think of an impossibility.

However, she knew she would have to confirm it sooner or later. But until then, she would be the invincible invisible alpha, an alpha unheard of, an alpha who led like a shadow and an alpha who only showed up when she needed to and nothing more.

Even the council alpha meetings on Obren, she had attended them, but she barely said a word. Her eyes were still filled with the anger, pain, and loss of her best friend that if anyone had tired shit with her, she would have given them more than just a piece of her mind.

She would ruin them and she would have a lot of fun while at it anyway. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

At the Calindra pack the news about their ailing alpha had spread. Alpha Jihoon had gotten sick barely a month after Kim Rania had disappeared. He was getting worse by the day and over the past few weeks, he had tried to run the pack, but had been failing.

The physicians were unable to determine what was wrong with him. Hell, even prince Jungwoo had tried to help with the help of the royal physician, but Park Jihoon never got better.

It was almost like someone was intentionally making him suffer, which was weird considering the onLy person he hated and the only person who had enough guts to go against him, his only enemy, Kim Rania was banished from the lands. So it was impossible that Rania had done this.

Besides, even if he could have said that Dalrae had a hand in this, there was no proof, especially since Lim Dalrae had been at the back doing her work in silence.

"I’m here to see the alpha, he’s a friend," Han Seong said to Lee daehyun, the Calindra beta who had seen him a few times. Of course, Daehyun knew that Jihoon trusted Han Seong, and maybe that was why it was easier for Han Seong to get access to the pack.

No one distrusted the man their alpha trusted, and so Daehyun didn’t stop Han Seong from going into the alpha’s house. Instead, he led the man to their alpha, a man who had sworn loyalty to Rania.

It was a dangerous game but then they didn’t know that Han Seong was loyal to Rania, but then Han Seong was also loyal to Jihoon.

He would lay his life for the two psychos and he could only hope that there didn’t come a time when the two pushed him to make a choice because then he would choose to run.

"I know. Do you have a way to fix him? He’s been sick for a whole month. He never eats, never sleeps. It’s almost like he’s lost something but he doesn’t even know what he lost. Maybe it’s because of the memories of Luna Yanna again, right?

Maybe that could be or is the alpha dying?" Daehyun asked and Han Seong listened carefully, silently making conclusions in his head.

He had a hint of what this was but he couldn’t dare spell it out loud, because if he did then he would face a lot more than the warlocks for the valley of the whites and he didn’t want that.

"I have to check on him. If you please, lead the way to your alpha’s chambers," Han Seong said and Daehyun nodded, more than willing to lead Han Seong to Jihoon. And when they got there, it was safe to say Han Seong was shocked.

He didn’t know what to make of this. The alpha was experiencing high fever, and withdrawal symptoms.

He looked like he had been doing drugs his whole life but then that was impossible, because he may have been psycho, but Park Jihoon had always found a way to control his intake of alcohol. Not to mention there are just no drugs on this side of the realm.

"Please leave us," Han Seong said and Daehyun looked at Jihoon, like he was seeking permission for his alpha. He wouldn’t leave his best friend alone with Han Seong but a part of him knew that this was a time he needed to leave them there.

There was something about the way they were looking at each other, and how they were both thinking that made Daehyun assume that his alpha would be safe. Besides, it wasn’t like Han Seong would dare to trigger a war with Jihoon, especially now that Jihoon has the vampires for allies.

It was a death sentence if he dared to, but then again, Han Seong had a friend called Kim Rania, surely death was the least of his problems, right?

"What happened to you, Jihoon?" Han Soeng asked when he was sure Daehyun had left and Jihoon just sighed defeatedly.

"I think it’s my mate again. I read in the books that this shit only happens when a mate is dying or hurting or dead. I don’t think that even works right now, because my mate is dead. Or is Yanna’s spirit thanking me for defending her?

"But why would I be the one suffering? I miss her no doubt, but this is just too much pain even for me to handle. What do you think?" Jihoon asked Han Seong who was staring at the alpha silently. He knew what the cause of this was, but he ain’t going to tell him.

Maybe this was something that Jihoon needed to figure out alone but what if the alpha didn’t figure it out in time? Would everything be okay then or would the alpha succumb to the pain?

"What happened with Kim Rania?" Han Seong asked and Jihoon looked at his old friend curiously.

"You think she did something to me?"
