Marvel: Umbrella Corporation-Chapter 152: Barton’s Sacrifice
Chapter 152 - Barton's Sacrifice
*Boom!*
As the fierce battle raged on, the ground suddenly began to tremble slightly.
Turning their heads, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents saw a towering man, over two meters tall, with a massive and burly physique, wearing a gigantic metal helmet, charging toward them.
"It's Juggernaut! Get out of the way!"
Like a living tank, Juggernaut bulldozed through the crowd, completely ignoring the bullets fired at him.
Some agents who couldn't dodge in time were sent flying instantly.
Seeing this, Barton immediately drew an arrow from his quiver, took aim at Juggernaut's eyes, and fired.
The arrow shot forward, but Juggernaut merely tilted his head slightly, allowing his helmet to absorb the impact.
Though Barton's archery had proven invaluable countless times before, its limitations became evident when facing an enemy of this magnitude—it was completely ineffective.
From above, Sam flapped his wings and swooped down, dual-wielding rifles and unleashing a barrage of bullets.
*Ratatatat...*
But when he realized that bullets had no effect on Juggernaut, he swiftly abandoned the attack and flew toward Logan and Victor, who had been blasted away.
"Logan! Victor! It's me—your best friend!"
Logan and Victor, still lying on the ground, were rapidly regenerating from their wounds. However, having just been shot in the head with heavy gunfire, they had finally broken free from Cassandra's control.
Since Cassandra had been controlling too many people at once, the strength of her hold over each individual had weakened.
Shaking their heads as their clarity returned, they spotted Sam in front of them.
Seeing their old friend, their instincts took over, and they reached out, hoping for his assistance.
But as soon as Sam saw Logan and Victor reaching toward him, he clenched his teeth and pulled the trigger again, unleashing another burst of gunfire.
*Ratatatat...*
"Logan, Victor, don't blame me—this is for your own good! Wake up already!"
As he spoke, he continued firing. Watching them collapse again, his face twisted with pain.
"You guys okay? I'm here to save you."
Logan tried to speak, but his throat had been torn apart by the bullets, making it impossible to form words. A bullet was lodged in his throat, so he extended his claws, attempting to dig it out.
However, upon seeing Logan unsheathing his claws, Sam instinctively took a few steps back and pulled out a grenade.
"Sorry, brother, but I have no choice."
Logan saw the grenade being thrown toward them and cursed inwardly.
*Boom!*
The explosion sent Logan and Victor flying once more, leaving their bodies tattered and broken. Victor, lacking Logan's adamantium-laced skeleton, had his arms and legs blown off completely.
Seeing his brother's tragic state, Logan crawled toward him, desperate to offer some comfort.
But to Sam, this horrifying scene looked like a zombie relentlessly dragging itself forward, refusing to die despite the brutal attack.
With a pained expression, he pulled out five more grenades, "Brother... I'm doing this for your own good."
He tossed them all at once and quickly retreated.
Logan stared wide-eyed at the incoming explosives. 'Are you trying to erase all traces of us?!'
*Boom! Boom! Boom!*
A series of violent explosions erupted. Victor's body was blasted in half, and he let out a painful scream.
"Ahhhh—!"
Some time later, Logan regained consciousness, slowly opening his eyes.
Upon seeing Victor's horrifying condition, he felt a wave of sorrow wash over him.
'This is too much.'
All for one mission under Umbrella, he and his brother had first been tortured by a bald woman, then controlled against their will.
Just when they finally regained their freedom, they were attacked like this.
'What the hell did I do to deserve this?'
As his healing factor finally repaired enough of his injuries, Logan struggled to his feet, intending to check on Victor.
But the moment he lifted his head, he was met with the barrel of a gun.
Sam stood before him, rifle in hand, his expression full of pain and sorrow, "Brother, everything I've done... is to help you recover faster."
*Ratatatat...*
A fresh hail of bullets rained down. Though Logan's adamantium skeleton made it impossible to kill him, the impact still left him dazed and unable to fight back.
Seeing Logan finally lose consciousness, Sam sighed in relief and lowered his rifle, his face heavy with emotion.
"You'll thank me for this. Everything I did was to help you recover."
With that, he turned toward the agonized Victor, hesitating for a moment.
After all, they had fought together in the Middle East, investigating the origins of the zombie outbreak, forging a deep friendship through countless battles.
Meanwhile...
Back at the battlefield, Juggernaut's relentless charge sent more and more people flying, their fates uncertain.
Watching the carnage, Natasha couldn't help but miss Banner.
If only he were here—Hulk's strength would surely be enough to stop Juggernaut's rampage.
*Boom!*
At that moment, Maria Hill ordered air support, calling in attack helicopters to fire rockets at Juggernaut.
The rockets struck their target directly.
But the next moment, Juggernaut emerged from the flames, completely unharmed.
It was hopeless—S.H.I.E.L.D. had always been weak when it came to handling superhumans. That was why Nick Fury had been so determined to assemble the Avengers.
But after Fury stepped down and Maria took over, the Avengers Initiative had never gotten off the ground.
Watching the battle unfold, Maria suddenly understood why Nick had been so insistent. Sometimes, technology simply wasn't enough against mutants.
To make matters worse, Lorna had regained consciousness. She raised her hand toward the helicopters hovering above.
In the blink of an eye, one of the gunships crumpled as if crushed by an invisible force.
*Boom!*
As the first helicopter exploded, the others scrambled to gain altitude and retreat.
But it was too late.
One after another, they burst into flames, raining debris from the sky.
Seeing this, Cassandra, who had been hiding underground, finally stepped forward with a calm smile, "Insects. You couldn't even defeat my subordinates, and yet you dare challenge me?"
With a casual wave of her hand, several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were instantly stripped of their flesh, reduced to nothing but bones.

Barton, standing nearby, drew his bow and fired an arrow straight at Cassandra.
Caught off guard, Cassandra was struck in the chest.
But she merely looked down at the arrow, slowly pulled it out, and smirked. Blood trickled from the wound—only to flow back into her body moments later.
"I can control all matter... including my own cells."
*Splurt—!*
In an instant, Barton's flesh vanished, leaving behind only his bones. The first high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. officer had fallen.
"No! Barton!"
The nearby agents cried out in grief.
