Marvel: Umbrella Corporation-Chapter 153: A Moment of Despair
Chapter 153 - A Moment of Despair
Seeing Barton perish, Natasha immediately discarded her empty electromagnetic rifle, drew the handgun strapped to her thigh, and pulled the trigger.
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
However, the bullets all halted a few inches away from Cassandra, suspended in midair.

Natasha kept firing while steadily approaching her. When the handgun ran out of bullets, she lunged forward, delivering a flying kick.
Cassandra merely sneered in contempt and extended a hand, effortlessly catching Natasha's leg.
"A feisty one, aren't you?"
With a flick of her wrist, she hurled Natasha away like a rag doll.
"Such a fine waist and legs... perhaps I'll keep you around to dance for me."
As she spoke, Natasha's mental shielding device detached from her head and floated into the air.
The next moment, her expression turned blank as she succumbed to Cassandra's psychic control. Without hesitation, she stepped behind Cassandra, standing motionless like a puppet.
Witnessing this, Maria and the others felt a chill run down their spines.
Only now did they remember—Cassandra wasn't just a telepath; she had telekinetic abilities as well. Their so-called mental shields were completely useless against her.
Just then, Daisy emerged from behind Cassandra, her fists crackling with vibrational energy as she struck forward.
But before she could land the blow, her body froze midair, held in place by an invisible force. No matter how much power surged in her fists, she couldn't move an inch.
"Let me go! Damn it! Die!"
Cassandra chuckled at Daisy's futile struggle.
With a mere gesture, Daisy's mental shielding device was ripped away as well. Like Natasha, she was instantly subdued and took her place behind Cassandra.
The remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. agents felt their last vestiges of hope crumbling.
Maria staggered back a few steps, despair washing over her, "This... this can't be happening... Oh God, please, strike down this demon before us..."
But there was no God to answer her prayers. Cassandra laughed mockingly.
"God? Hah! I am your God! Now... die!"
As Cassandra prepared to finish them off, Lorna and Erik, now fully under her control, raised their hands, manipulating massive chunks of metal into the air.
With S.H.I.E.L.D. on the verge of annihilation, Coulson could no longer hold back.
"Maria! We have to use our last resort!"
A flicker of determination reignited in Maria's eyes, "Yes... we still have a final card to play. Deploy them now!"
She glanced at May, who remained silent, her expression filled with dread.
Moments later, several helicopters approached the battlefield, each carrying a massive shipping container. The pilots, fully aware of Lorna and Erik's powers, dropped the containers from a distance before quickly retreating.
*Boom! Boom! Boom!*
The containers crashed to the ground, kicking up clouds of dust.
Cassandra's eyes gleamed with curiosity, "Oh? What trick do you have up your sleeve this time? Whatever it is, it won't save you."
She signaled to Lorna and Erik.
Like programmed machines, the two extended their hands toward the containers.
With an eerie creak, the containers began collapsing in on themselves, crushed by their overwhelming magnetic force.
Had Lorna and Erik still been in control of their own minds, they might have recognized what was inside. But alas, they were nothing more than Cassandra's puppets now.
As the last container was flattened, Cassandra turned to Maria with an amused smirk.
"And now? What else do you have left?"
Maria didn't respond. Instead, she and the few remaining agents cautiously backed away.
In just a matter of minutes, more than fifty S.H.I.E.L.D. agents had been reduced to a mere seven survivors. Even if they managed to complete their mission, this battle was already a catastrophic failure.
Cassandra observed their retreat, a bored expression on her face. To her, this wasn't even a battle—it was a game.
Her frustration at the beginning had long faded, replaced by amusement.
These people posed no real threat to her. She could have stood still and let them attack, and it still wouldn't have made a difference.
Daisy had been the only one with any real power, but even she had been subdued with ease.
Just as Cassandra prepared to finish them off, a deafening roar erupted from the crushed containers.
*Boom!*
Dark silhouettes emerged from the wreckage, rapidly approaching the battlefield.
Cassandra raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
Within moments, a swarm of creatures surrounded them.
Lickers!
However, Cassandra had never seen such beings before, and she tilted her head in curiosity.
"Hmm? Where did these things come from? I don't recall anything like them in my world."
She thought for a moment before dismissing the notion.
After all, her previous world had been plunged into an apocalypse the moment she arrived. Perhaps such creatures had existed there too, but they had never had the chance to appear.
Shrugging, she waved a hand dismissively.
"Kill them."
Lorna and Erik obeyed without hesitation.
Jagged shards of metal shot toward the Lickers, but the creatures were incredibly fast, dodging with unnatural agility.
Even when they were hit, they quickly regenerated, undeterred by their wounds.
As the battle raged, the Lickers drew closer and closer. Seeing this, Cassandra calmly sank into the ground, disappearing once more.
But at that moment, something massive dropped from the sky.
A towering figure landed with a thunderous crash, its enormous arm plunging into the ground, yanking Cassandra back into the open.
"...Huh?"
For the first time, surprise flickered across Cassandra's face as she found herself restrained.
Before her stood a monstrous being—over three meters tall, its body a mass of grotesquely overdeveloped muscle. A metallic helmet covered its head, adding to its menacing appearance.
It was a Tyrant, a second-generation bioweapon engineered by Umbrella. Stronger, more resilient, and possessing unparalleled regenerative abilities.
But Cassandra was unfazed.
She raised a hand, and the massive claw grasping her disintegrated in an instant, stripped down to bare bone.
"Hmm... impressive muscle density. That actually took some effort."
As she stepped back, countless metal shards surged forward, striking the Tyrant. The beast raised its remaining arm, morphing it into a blade to shield itself.
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
The relentless assault of metal battered its body, crushing its helmet and leaving deep gashes in its flesh.
But even as its bones were exposed, its wounds began knitting back together at an alarming rate. Even its skeletal hand, stripped of all flesh, rapidly regenerated.
