Married to my nemesis-Chapter 44: Demons vs Angels
Phoebe excused herself to use the lavatory, carefully picking the skirt of her gown when she unexpectedly bumped into someone.
"Ughh," they growled in pain slowly retreating themselves to take a look at the person she bumped into.
"Are you alright?" Phoebe aggressively questioned with widened eyes as the person bumped into narrowed her eyes to take a look at her so the person could respond to her words but then the man was able to recognize her voice.
"Phoebe?" The man had a surprise tone which made Phoebe frown.
How did the person know her name?
She tried to know the man just like the person did without her removing her mask but the person seemed to recognize her struggle and to ease it.
The person opened his mask.
"Mike!!" She was shocked and out of excitement she couldn’t help but gasp as she covered her mouth and then she embraced him.
Meanwhile, as she embraced him, Zayn came out of the toilet coming across the couple who were hugging affectionately, he arched one of his brows as a frown settled on his face.
"Oh my, how did you get to know me under the mask?"
"Your voice hasn’t changed, is still the same."
"Really?"
"Could I see your face under the mask?"
Zayn was about to move away to leave space for them to have their time together but then curiosity pulled him back just to see who was the woman under the mask.
As the mask was removed, he was bewildered to see it was Phoebe, and she was with someone else.
He wanted to object to his thoughts to see the only thing that went between the both of them was just a normal conversation but being reminded by Max’s words about the new boy Phoebe was falling for, it collided with his mind, could it be possible it was the guy Max was talking about?
He wanted to deny those thoughts but was reminded of what he was seeing.
Phoebe looked cheerful and happy around the guy and the only time she was happy with him was just a fifteen percent time when he had the chance to see that smile.
There was no teddy bear like he used to impress her or an arcade but just the man and yet, she was already blooming with excitement and had a unique happiness.
His demons asked him to walk forward and approach them so he could clearly see the guy but the angel within him told him just not to, so it wouldn’t create a misunderstanding between him and Phoebe.
So his answer, he obliged with his angel, to respect Phoebe’s choice.
Meanwhile, Mike was stunned by Phoebe’s appearance, she had become a lot older than he had imagined her to be.
"It seems is not only us who get the growth spurt and makes us old," Mike teased as Phoebe knuckled him on his arm.
"I’m not the one, you’re the one who’s grown so much," she replied.
"After all those while, we’re finally able to speak with one another."
"I know right?"
"What about Max?"
"I don’t know what’s about Max, he’s the one who knows about himself and knows what he’s doing," Phoebe jested as they chuckled.
"What about Prudence? I haven’t seen Prudence for a while now, did she decide on going on a vacation?" Phoebe chuckled but as a matter of fact, she only did that because his words made Phoebe concerned.
He doesn’t know what had happened to Prudence.
Actually, nobody knows what had happened to Prudence except from her family and Vixen but she wasn’t expecting Mike not to know.
"Phoebe?" Mike said as she regained presence and then she placed a small smile, what was she going to say happened to Prudence?
"Prudence," she stuttered hoping a meaningful word would escape her lips as an answer but then without any other choice.
"Mike, could we speak later? My stomach is grumbling, I’ll have to use the toilet."
"Okay, maybe next time then?"
"That’s fine by me," Phoebe had a small smile and then she departed to use the lavatory but as she got there, she was thankful that no one was around, she placed her hand on the platform of the faucet as she tried to regain her breath, remembering everything, she didn’t know what to do.
Everyone was curious about Prudence.
But what could she say, Prudence was among them, she didn’t die but she’s living in another person’s body.
She raised her head to take a look at her face in the mirror.
Meanwhile, at the party, Enim couldn’t help but constantly check her phone, she wanted to see if Phoebe had sent her a message.
"Phoebe," she softly murmured anticipating her answer but her reaction was caught by Vixen.
He reached for her hand as she jerked to take a look at him.
"You seem to be anxious about something," Enim shook her head with a smile.
"Is nothing," she covered up making sure her smile was evident to convince him.
"Okay," Vixen was convinced and then he turned his gaze back to the performance as Enim gasped out of a small relief but she was still waiting for Phoebe to reply.
"Have you gotten a message from her? Is she around?" Enim texted Phoebe.
Coming out of the toilet, Phoebe received the text and once again, she tried calling Lia but it was unreachable.
She tried calling Britney but just like Lia’s, it was unreachable.
Phoebe became a bit worried and then she went out of the toilet after doing her makeup heading towards Laurence as she asked and luckily, Laurence had the phone number of the driver.
"Where are you guys?" Phoebe questioned aggressively as the driver hesitated to speak for a moment but not until she heard another voice.
The phone was taken from him.
"I see you like tracking me," it was Lia’s annoyed voice that allowed Phoebe to retract her words.
"What are you talking about, Aunt?"
"I know you placed a tracking chip on my mask, Phoebe. What sort of game are you up to now?"
"Aunt, listen, it was just-" she couldn’t complete her words as she was interrupted by Lia.
"I know you’re bothered about me but listen, I’m on my way and your accomplice, Britney is also with me."
"Aunt Lia, you guys’ phones were unreachable, what happened?"
"It must have been the signal, you know what, you’re disturbing me already, I’m so pissed with you, I’m going to cut the call."
"But-" Phoebe had no chance since the call was unexpectedly ended by Lia.
Phoebe hissed at her aunt’s behavior, she was so strange.
"Don’t worry, Enim, she’s on her way, and she also caught me in the act but she’s still heading towards the venue," Phoebe texted Enim
"Was she mad?"
"Why wouldn’t she? She ended the call before I could even explain myself, Aunt’s up to something."
"She might be but I want to be sure she’s not trying to devise another plan."
"I know, she’s just full of surprises."
"There’s no need to worry, as long as she heading here then definitely she might want to create some trouble and if she’s closer with Vixen than usual then it must mean she either went to the building to confront Vixen or she went there for something else, I just need to discover why she’s doing all this. Then I can ask her about everything once the message is unencrypted."
"Thank you," Enim added in the text with a heart emoji.
"No need, I’m just helping, I also want to find out the truth as much as you want to," Phoebe replied.
Meanwhile, as Lia’s driver was driving in the direction of the venue, a car came towards them unexpectedly increasing the brightness of the light which made no other choice but for Lia’s driver to make e a turn so he wouldn’t be obstructed by the light, Lia became annoyed by the person’s action.
It was midnight and the reflection of the light from the person’s car was high, she wanted to retort with the person but before she could ask the driver to head for the person’s car, they discovered they were on the wrong track.
Before they could make it back to the right position, a truck with a loud siren headed towards them hitting the left side where the driver was seated then, the car was massively crushed after roles of stunts before it finally reached its balance as the car landed on the head with the bodies in the car unconscious.
The driver who had his seat belt around him, was compressed with the belt, his hand was cut, and it was thrown to the ground.
And then his head was passed through as a piece of the car’s metal was removed from its position just to narrow through his head, having blood spill out on the piece.
The glass severely pierced the skin of the passengers as they lay unconscious on the head of the car, with blood coming out of their bodies with evident traces of bruises and the glaze of sharp glasses.
They settled on the car, with their eyes closed and unconscious.
They were breathless, as the road was silent and the night was cold but unfortunately had murdered them.
