Chapter 45: The pain of jealousy

Zayn couldn’t concentrate since the time he came out of the bathroom, after what he’d seen, his thoughts were attacked with unruly thoughts of what could be happening between them.

Phoebe and that unknown guy.

He couldn’t help but blame himself for being late to get Phoebe.

"You’re such a loser," his inner self accused which made him feel guilty.

He knew he could throw away the thoughts of being a loser, he wasn’t one.

And if he wanted, he could have Phoebe.

The thing was just that.

He did not know the person he was against, what if it was some other rich kid with massive powers?

Well, he also had power, the son of a politician and his mother a jewelry businesswoman associated with a cosmetic brand and clothing brand that were on the top list in the country.

So he was born out of a silver spoon.

But one thing he’d learnt in this world, was never pick your opponent without knowing who your opponent is.

With those thoughts which tormented and brutalized his peace, he took a cup of wine from the waiting who were with the trays of wine handling it out to the guest.

"Wait here," he commanded the waiter as the waiter obliged, and then he began to take the cup but he was unsatisfied with the consumption he was taking and then he took more.

"What do you think you’re doing? Are you giving me wine, is this what you call serving your guest, I need more wine," Zayn rudely stated as the waiter pleaded to leave and then he left getting another waiter who brought another set for him.

Zayn was the one who stopped when he felt the consumption was heavy.

He began to feel tipsy dragging his foot as he struggled to move out of the party.

He growled in pain as he reached for his head, now it felt as though a heavy metal was placed on his head.

He was heavy-headed, he wanted to go to a light area where he could get some breeze.

He strived his way out of the party and then headed to the terrace which wasn’t quite far.

The place was crowded but not that crowded, people discussed some took light air.

Removing the mask on his face, he took a deep breath.

Thankfully he was not on the floor where people got to smoke.

He stayed there on his foot, as he promised himself he wasn’t going to fall.

As he stood there, a friend of his appeared at the place noticing him at the place and then his college friend approached him.

"Zayn?!" She was stunned trying to recognize him, after all, she’d met a few of her friends at the party but then she didn’t expect Zayn to attend.

Once Zayn heard his name, he scrutinized trying to see who called him and once he was able to see her face after she’d opened the mask, he also became surprised.

"Cece?!!" He said flabbergasted and then, he walked towards her to embrace her.

"Oh my, it’s just a few days since we were done with college but you’ve only ended up growing bigger," Zayn stated as he entangled his arm around her waist pulling her closer so he could reach for her cheeks playfully pinching it.

"What are you eating, junk food?" Zayn added teasing her knowing how much Cece hated the words of getting fat and the fact was that she wasn’t eating more, she was on her diet.

"You’re silly," Cece said slapping his hand with pouty lips, and then once again mockingly, he pinched her nose.

"I know so, I’m silly," Zayn said with a chuckle.

Crossing by the terrance, Phoebe thought of staying at the terrance to ease her burdened head.

Her eyes scrutinized the environment to see people discussing but then she figured out the couple who were busy doing a display of public affection.

She became irritated by the view of the couple she picked up her legs about to leave the place but then she heard Cece speak before she went out of the terrance.

"Zayn, I can’t believe you, after the time we finished college you went away without allowing us to know about your whereabouts, we weren’t even able to see your face for the ending session," Phoebe stopped and then she turned around to see them, they couldn’t hide their affection.

Romantic she had her arms around his neck while she was talking to him in a scolding manner and then she looked at the way she gazed into his eyes like she was about to kiss him.

She looked at the woman, inch by inch examining her appearance.

She was a fair-looking woman dressed in a white dress, the designer made her outfit look floral and then in front of her, was a big flower which was placed around her waist, the dress was nicely tailored it reached above her knee and along with her dress, she wore a silver heel.

Phoebe couldn’t help but notice her skin was exposed and her skin had a radiant glow.

The woman had one leg up as she embraced Zayn on his neck and then she was talking with him with laughter, chuckling with her face fluffing with crimson red since she was blushing.

She clicked her tongue irritated, by what she was seeing she became agitated.

She knew it, those comments Zayn said about her were fake and Zayn, he such a flirt, he was nothing but a womanizer who looked for ways to trap women.

She walked out of the area walking toward the bar longue ordering for gimlet somehow she felt solemn but she didn’t want to.

Her eyes wanted to well up with tears but she didn’t want to pour it out.

She stopped to adjust herself on the seat, what was wrong with her?

She looked at the cup of the drink, feeling it must be the effect of the drink.

She irritatedly stood up from her seat to take some breeze but then she began to feel tipsy.

Her footstep was heavy enough that it became difficult to place another foot on the ground.

She tried to stay put but she couldn’t, she was stuck in her position, she was swelled up she didn’t want to do anything.

Frustration and adrenaline filled her she knew she didn’t want it.

Her thoughts, her mind, and her heart were racing a thousand miles even though she didn’t want all of those to happen.

Those scenes, they kept recalling to her.

She knew it, Zayn was a flirt.

She shouldn’t have trusted her gut when it said he wasn’t that bad.

He was the worst.

And now, her thoughts only betrayed her.

This was what she was running away from, the thoughts, the emotions, the jealousy.

No, no, she denied it, she wasn’t jealous.

She tried once again after regaining her lost foot, she was going to get some fresh breeze and she was going outside.

She did it, but where she ended up at, she didn’t know how she ended up there.

Somehow she was spellbound she was pulled back to the terrance where Zayn and that girl were.

Getting there, the terrance was empty, she childishly pouted her lips out of disappointment.

What was the use of coming?

"He’s not here," she ached in agony and then she tried taking another foot so she could walk out of the place but she ended up tripping on her gown landing her on the ground.

Her lips continued gasping out in pain, she was in pain at that moment, and yes, she knew it.

She couldn’t deny it anymore, just like her fall, she was falling apart emotionally, the pain within her heart dug itself a deep hole, and she couldn’t retreat from that pain.

She began to whimper in tears.

Why did he have to make her feel that adrenaline, annoyance, and butterflies when he was with her, and now, just because she saw him with someone else she became jealous?

She so wanted to cause him to spellbind her, to have these emotions.

Silence embraced the environment but now, there was a new sound, the sound that remarked with the tears and exhaustion of Phoebe.

The sound that filled with Phoebe’s cry.

"Are you alright?" She heard a sudden voice which one asked out of concern and then she opened her eyes which were shut just to take a look at the person in front of him.

She looked at the masked man who was also on the ground, it must have been tears that she echoed that didn’t make her recognize that there was someone else in the area.

The person questioned and then the person reached for her cheeks using his thumb to caress her cheek cleaning the tears on her cheeks.

She glanced into his eyes trying to recognize who was the person, their eyes shot at each other as well as the moon, coming out of the shades of the clouds it reflected light on the both of them.
