Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 231: Conversation With Alexis
Alexis patted his shoulder to clean himself from some of the leaves that fell there. Sasha immediately untied his dress and ran quickly to stand in front of Arielle.
"I was looking for a bit of a new place to rest. Andrea is on a rampage and destroying my library," Alexis replied casually.
Arielle gasped. It seemed that the rumors Sasha said earlier were true. Alexis and Andrea were fighting. Arielle looked around and realized that no one was there. There were only a few wooden basins filled with unfinished laundry.
It seemed that Alexis had purposely ordered the servants and other guards to leave the yard behind the palace so that he could be alone.
"And you show up here making a fuss with that little dog of yours," Alexis added.
Sasha growled in displeasure when Alexis referred to him as a little dog.
"Sorry if our presence bothers you, I’ll find another place so you can enjoy your time," Arielle said politely.
Alexis grabbed his own shoulder and twisted it a few times while stretching his other muscles. He let out a long yawn, and then his assistant appeared with the news that Princess Andrea had left the library so that Alexis could go back to spending time there.
"I’ll be spending my time here in a little while," he replied coldly and then shooed his assistant away.
Arielle reached for a bucket filled with paint and brushes. Sasha immediately took Arielle’s canvas which was starting to dry.
"Then allow us to resign," said Arielle, bowing respectfully.
"You stay here," ordered Alexis, who then took a white cloth from the clothesline and spread it on the ground. He used the cloth as a blanket to seat.
Arielle frowned at that, imagining the maids who had gone to great lengths to clean the cloth. It would need a long time to soak until the soil stains wear off.
"Do you want to paint this?" asked Alexis taking a piece of sketch paper that Arielle made while at the lake.
"Yes," answered Arielle.
Arielle felt Alexis was different now, but she didn’t want to think the man had changed completely. The girl sat next to her brother while taking a pencil to transfer the sketch to her new canvas.
Sasha, who was still wary, circled the man and then chose to sit next to Arielle directly to be able to protect the girl as quickly as possible if Alexis started to use violence.
"Who is she? I didn’t see her during my visit to the North before," Alexis pointed at Sasha.
Arielle, who had not thought of anything, suddenly became nervous. Sasha immediately came forward and introduced himself as a child of a Northendell palace maid.
"My mother is a maid close to Princess Arielle there. She was supposed to accompany Her Highness here, but suddenly my mother became ill, and I took her place."
Alexis narrowed his eyes at Sasha suspiciously. "My sister doesn’t need any other maid besides the maid who is always with her."
"Tania is already old. It’s time to change generations!" replied Sasha, who was getting carried away with his emotion.
Alexis suddenly burst out laughing, causing Arielle and Sasha to look at each other suspiciously.
"Change generations, huh? I like the idea," he mumbled.
Alexis also always wondered when his father could die so that he could fully occupy the king’s throne. Or even, when he could have the chance to show his proper capacity as a king and make his father step down voluntarily.
However, that curiosity would soon be answered on the day the Northerners arrived. Alexis would prove that he could lead this kingdom. He would rise to become a king in his father’s stead. He no longer had to worry about Archie or Andrea, who both might want the throne.
He just needed to last until the night of the festival. Arielle was not going anywhere from the palace. His sister was going to marry Duke Pellington no matter what, as he would not allow a barbarian to touch his sister.
After Arielle married Duke Pellington and Alexis became a king, he would kill that man too. Alexis looked at his very clean palms. Soon his hands would be dirty with blood, and Alexis didn’t mind it.
"Alexis, can I ask you something?" asked Arielle.
The man sat leaning against the tree next to Arielle’s canvas while opening his book to start reading.
"Regarding Duke Pellington, why did father accept two proposals for me at the same time?"
Arielle folded her knees, not daring to look at her brother. Sasha also pressed his body to listen to the answer from the criminal directly. Alexis didn’t answer right away. He was sorting out the things he could say.
"You already know about that, huh?"
"Is it a secret?"
"Not really. I even hope the rumors can be spread until that one person up north hears it."
Arielle understood who Alexis was referring to. She was getting more and more confused now. The girl still couldn’t understand what her father’s and brother’s intentions were. What was the reason behind them blatantly accepting two proposals at once? There was no reason Arielle could think of.
"Why is that? Wouldn’t that just spark conflict?"
"We are indeed looking for conflict, Arielle."
"Huh? Which fool would seek war with the Northendell Kingdom? They will only be slaughtered by King Ronan!" Sasha exclaimed disapprovingly.
Alexis glanced at Sasha disinterestedly. Arielle also now stopped drawing to listen carefully. The prince tugged at Sasha’s chin and smiled slyly.
"Can they do it? Oh... I almost forgot you are one of the Northerners, huh? The Northerners who rely solely on strength can never beat the Nieverdells who have everything."
Sasha brushed Alexis’ hand away from his face in disgust. The boy had the intention to punch Alexis in the face but was immediately restrained by Arielle. Sasha turned his face away.
What was it with these guys in the South? They were all so disgusting! From the greedy king, and their disgusting crown prince to the ungrateful servants. Even the absent-minded Archie still carried a suspicious air with him.
