Chapter 35: Entering Hollow Realm

"The gates are opening," Dorian declared, turning to his own disciples and elders. "Remember my orders! Take all the resources. Leave nothing inside but the corpses!"

Dorian’s eyes lingered on Valerius for a second longer.

The corners of Valerius’s mouth curled into an incomparably cruel and arrogant sneer.

It was a look that viewed everyone present as nothing more than lowly ants waiting to be mercilessly crushed.

His aura faintly surging beneath his skin like a dormant beast preparing to slaughter.

The fifty members of the Ironpeak and Barlowe alliance drew their weapons, their eyes gleaming with malicious, predatory light as they stared down the Azure Cloud and Graves alliance.

They unashamedly flaunted their superiority, eagerly anticipating a onesided massacre.

Harmon turned to his own group.

His eyes swept across the Torin, and other elders, giving them a silent nod, before setting his gaze on the Victor and other disciples, who were visibly frightened, and nervous.

"The Hollow Realm will remain open for three days. Remember the plan," Harmon said, his voice lowered but carrying the weight of a desperate prayer. "Survive. Regroup. And do not show them mercy, because they will show you none."

BZZZZZ!

The spatial vortex suddenly emitted a deafening hum vibrated through the valley.

Harmon gave a hurried glance to Rhain at the side.

"..stay safe. If you can, help me bring back as many of our people as possible. But above all else, you must survive. You are the future of this sect."

Rhain nodded, and spoke with absolute confidence, "Don’t worry, Sect Master, "I will do my best. Those who follow my lead will return alive."

A blinding flash of silver light erupted from the center of the valley.

The Hollow Realm had opened.

The blinding flash of silver light swallowed the entire barren valley.

It was so dazzlingly bright that everyone was forced to subconsciously narrow their eyes.

When the intense light finally dimmed, the violent spatial turbulence had settled.

The chaotic silver and grey energies that had been swirling uncontrollably finally snapped into a stable, mirror-like surface.

In the center of the crater, hovering just a few feet above the rocky ground, was a massive, perfectly oval gateway of swirling silver essence.

It was a breathtaking yet frightening spectacle, emitting a hazy, mystical light that seemed to isolate it entirely from the outside world.

"Go!" Dorian waved his massive hand.

At his command, the masked man standing directly behind him moved first.

He simply stepped forward, his body phasing through the shimmering silver surface of the entrance.

The vortex rippled like water, and he vanished completely, teleported to an unknown corner of the Hollow Realm.

Following him were the other two Level 9 elders of the Ironpeak Sect.

Then came the youths.

Led by Valerius Krath.

Right before he stepped through the silver veil, he paused.

He turned his head, his arrogant gaze sweeping over the Azure Cloud Sect’s disciples.

His eyes lingered on Victor Corvin with blatant disdain as he dragged his thumb across his throat in a slow, deliberate motion.

Without waiting for a reaction, he turned and stepped into the vortex, vanishing completely.

One by one, the remaining Ironpeak disciples marched into the portal.

Lowen Barlowe tapped his serpent-wood cane against the ground. The carved snake head at its pinnacle seemed to hiss as the aether brushed past it. "Do not disappoint me," he spoke hideously to his family members.

The twenty members of the Barlowe family followed suit.

Within minutes, the fifty members of the enemy alliance had completely disappeared into the Hollow Realm.

Dorris Graves let out a heavy, solemn breath. He turned to his younger brother.

"Roderick. You know what is at stake."

Roderick Graves gripped the hilt of his sword, his hawkish eyes burning with resolve. "I will not let our family down, brother."

Roderick led the twenty members of the Graves family forward.

They stepped into the shimmering silver light one after another, their silhouettes distorting and vanishing in the vortex.

Now, only the thirty members of the Azure Cloud Sect remained outside.

Harmon Vael looked at Fourth Elder Torin.

"Torin. I leave them in your hands."

Torin bowed deeply. "I will not disappoint you, Sect Master."

"You remember the first thing you will be doing after entering hollow realm?" Rhain asked without turning his.

"I do," Seris replied softly.

She reached out and briefly, gently, grabbed his sleeve. "I will find you, Rhain."

Rhain looked at her delicate hand on his sleeve, then met her eyes.

"If you encounter anyone from the Ironpeak or Barlowe factions before we reunite," Rhain instructed, his tone turning absolutely chilling, "do not hesitate. Do not talk. Just kill them."

Seris’s eyes widened slightly, but the resolve in her heart did not waver. She nodded her head firmly.

She let go of his sleeve, turned around, and stepped into the silver vortex.

A flash of light enveloped her delicate figure, and she was gone.

Rhain was the last one left. He walked to the massive, swirling gateway of the Hollow Realm.

"Rhain," Harmon called out from behind.

Rhain puased his steps.

Harmon looked at him with an expression of deep trust, and unspoken expectation. "Survive."

Rhain’s lips curled into a faint, confident smile.

"I will."

Without another word, Rhain turned and stepped directly into the swirling silver vortex.

The sensation was instantaneous and violently disorienting.

Absolute darkness swallowed his vision.

A bone-chilling cold pierced right through his clothes, accompanied by the deafening roar of tearing space.

It felt as though invisible claws were dragging him through a sea of mud.

The sensation lasted for exactly three breaths.

Whoosh!

Light abruptly returned.

The spatial tear spat him out, and Rhain’s boots landed firmly on solid ground.

Rhain slowly opened his eyes and scanned his surrounding.

The gravity here was distinctly heavier—at least twice as oppressive as the outside world.

An ordinary mortal would have their organs crushed just by standing here.

Right now, he was standing on an elevated ridge overlooking a vast, unending forest.

But this forest was quite peculiar.

The trees here were colossal, towering hundreds of feet into the air.

Above, the sky was not blue.

It was grey, just like the sky covered with clouds during the rain.

The essence here was incredibly dense, far richer than the inner quarters of the Azure Cloud Sect.

The void in his dantian twitched with instinctual hunger, eager to devour the ancient energy.

And the air was incredibly fresh.

Rhain took a deep breath, feeling the absurdly rich essence, and fresh air rush into his lungs.

Right at that moment, the mechanical voice of the System suddenly echoed in his mind.

Ding!

Rhain’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Hidden Sign-In?

In his original understanding, the System provided Daily and Location Sign-Ins.

But this was a completely new category.

It seemed that stepping into an isolated, ancient spatial dimension outside the normal bounds of Aethermere triggered secret nodes that were otherwise inaccessible.

[Hidden Sign-In available. Would you like to Sign In?]

There was absolutely no reason to hesitate.

"Yes."
