Chapter 230: Return To Nieverdell Palace

Arielle’s return to the Nieverdell palace did not get much attention. Tania and Sasha became more worried because neither of Arielle’s siblings approached the girl to intimidate her. Even Queen Rosalie and Andrea seemed to leave her alone.

The strange air lasted for days. Not that Arielle wished to be bullied. However, the calmness felt eerie and it bothered her. Every time she passed her siblings, they deliberately turned around or walked past her as if no one had seen her.

There was no hit to the head, no one accidentally bumped her into falling, no one called her a witch’s daughter and so on. The other maids also seemed to be avoiding her.

Arielle did not know for sure what had happened, but the calm and peaceful atmosphere made Arielle uncomfortable. Sasha had asked one of the northern spies disguised as a palace guard about what happened.

They said that when Arielle went to the village a few days ago, there was a big fight between Prince Alexis and Princess Andrea. No one knew for sure the cause of the fight, but a servant saw Princess Andrea’s red face that looked like she had been slapped.

"Alexis fought with Andrea? What happened?" Arielle asked Sasha.

"No one knows for sure, Princess. Rumour has it that this has something to do with a nobleman called Duke Pellington." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Duke Pellington? Arielle recognized the man’s name. Wasn’t that man the same person whose proposal her father accepted?

"Then is going on now?" asked Tania, who was also very curious about the dispute between the two closest siblings.

From the beginning, Andrea had been Alexis’ favourite sister since they were little. Even Annalise was never treated as special as Alexis treated Andrea, even though Annelise was his biological sister from Queen Rosalie.

Indeed, recently there had been rumours that the two were falling out with each other, but usually, it didn’t take long for them to become united again.

"After that incident, at noon, King Hugo summoned Prince Alexis, Princess Andrea, and Queen Rosalie to settle their dispute."

"And?"

"Princess Andrea came out of her father’s study crying, so there’s a chance that Prince Alexis won their argument," said Sasha trying to figure out what was going on.

Arielle still couldn’t believe what she heard. She had only left the palace a day, but a lot had already happened. No one knew what they agreed on, but it made Arielle uncomfortable. She got a hunch that, without realizing it, she was also involved in the dispute.

"Archie hasn’t returned to the palace, has he?" Arielle asked Sasha, who had been in regular communication with the palace guards for the past few days.

"Not yet, but I saw for myself that Princess Andrea sent her confidant to call Prince Archie home. So there is a possibility that tonight or tomorrow the man will arrive at the palace."

Arielle thought long. "Sasha, you heard this report through another Northerner, right? Somehow I have a bad feeling about the clash of the two siblings."

"Yes, Princess. Agent X has sent an eagle to the North. I’m just waiting for instructions."

Arielle looked up at the clear sky. She saw a sketch she had made at the lake and wanted to put it on a larger canvas. She no longer had a fresh canvas. Arielle climbed onto the chair to pick up an old painting that still looked incomplete.

It was one of her first paintings. The strokes still looked rough and messy. Arielle would cover the simple fruit image with white paint to turn it into a new canvas.

"The weather outside is great. Sasha, accompany me to paint in the backyard, okay?"

Sasha, who was sitting relaxed on Arielle’s bed, straightened up. "You’re not worried about meeting your sibling?"

"The backyard is usually only used by soldiers and servants, so they won’t go to that place."

"But there will be Olin there," said Sasha hesitantly.

Arielle just laughed and gave Sasha two buckets of paint and a brush to carry. "So what? Since taking the trip to the lake a few days ago, I’ve forgotten and given up everything. I can’t force them to like me anymore if that’s not what they want."

Arielle bent down to whisper to Sasha.

"It would just be a waste of time," she continued confidently.

Tania smiled proudly at Arielle’s self-confidence. The Northerners had a lot of positive impacts on Arielle. Slowly the princess learned to be more confident and brave. It really touched Tania.

"I’ll go prepare lunch," said Tania, who then hurriedly left Arielle’s room to go to the kitchen.

Sasha was very obedient to Arielle. The child walked quietly behind the princess to the backyard, and Arielle chose a large tree with shady leaves. The girl put her painting on the ground and sat cross-legged, facing the painting.

Sasha, who had put down all of Arielle’s painting equipment, picked up a small twig that had fallen on the ground to practise swordsmanship. He looked around the empty space so he could tie his skirt to make it easier for him to move.

Arielle started to take a large brush and dip it in white paint and erase her old fruit painting. The girl brushed off a leaf that had fallen in front of her face and shook off the wet canvas so she could start transferring her sketch to the canvas as soon as possible.

The scorching Nieverdell weather helped dry the white canvas quickly.

BUMP!

Arielle quickly looked back and saw Sasha, who fell to the ground.

"Are you okay?" she asked worriedly because Sasha wouldn’t get up from the ground.

"I’m okay... I just... fell over after stepping on the hem of my skirt."

Arielle got up to fix Sasha’s skirt. "Be careful, if you get hurt, there will be no one to protect me," said the girl making Sasha’s face blush.

"You don’t have to worry, Princess. I will become the greatest knight in the whole world by defeating King Ronan later as the main boss. Now I just need to complete some side quests to become stronger."

Arielle rubbed the boy’s head clean and smiled. "Thank you."

"A girl can’t be a knight, you know." a very familiar voice made Arielle and Sasha stiffen instantly. Arielle slowly looked up and saw her eldest brother was up in the tree.

Her brows furrowed questioningly. Of the many trees in the palace, why her brother could be in one of the backyard trees.

"Alexis? What are you doing up there?"
