Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 183: The Tired Ronan
Arielle would stop by the palace kitchen to ask for some ingredients there. When she wanted to leave her room, suddenly the door to her room opened, and Ronan stood with a book and a pen.
Arielle immediately hid the book under a sofa cushion and then stood up to welcome the arrival of the king.
"Are you done with work?"
"Not yet," answered Ronan curtly.
The man closed the door to Arielle’s room again, then took off his shoes and climbed onto the bed. Ronan patted the empty space next to him so that Arielle could lie down beside him.
"Not yet? Then why are you here? Didn’t I say I’d see you when you’re done with work?"
"It is all because of Lazarus," answered Ronan with a heavy breath.
"Lazarus? What happened?"
"I took Lazarus out for a few glasses of whiskey, and the guy got drunk so fast. I took him to my study so he could sleep, but the sound of his snoring made me unable to concentrate."
Ronan stretched his fingers guiltily. He had intended to take Lazarus out for a drink and a little chat before returning to work. But Lazarus got drunk so quickly that he started messing up. An annoyed Ronan beat the man to sleep.
Actually, Ronan himself wasn’t sure if he beat Lazarus to sleep or until he fainted. Annoyed, Ronan was looking for Arielle, and here he was now, leaving Lazarus asleep on the floor of his study alone. He just hoped that the fire in the fireplace wouldn’t go out until someone found the man.
Arielle went up to join him and leaned her body on Ronan’s body. The man opened his book and started reading. One hand opened the book, and the other was stroking Arielle’s hair which was so soft.
"How was your trip out of the palace today? Was it fun?" asked Ronan, who regained his composure as Arielle’s warmth covered his body.
Arielle, who was also reading the book that Ronan was holding, raised her head.
"Very fun! During the festival that night, I only saw part of the square because there were so many people there. But this afternoon I could see more clearly, the shops lining the square and people having picnics too. It’s a very beautiful sight," answered Arielle making Ronan smile.
Arielle looked at Ronan’s mask and thought to give the man a mask too, but she didn’t know if she could afford it. For now, Arielle would give him the thing she already had. The girl smiled, thinking of what to gift him in the coming year.
Arielle reached out her hand to untie the mask strap. Now she could see Ronan’s face more clearly. She furrowed her brows when she saw dark circles under those red eyes.
"You have not slept?" asked Arielle.
Arielle never knew how the quality of the man’s sleep was. Every time they made love, Arielle always fell asleep first and woke up with an empty bed.
Ronan just smiled. "I have a lot of work to do. You don’t have to worry about me. Just sitting with you like this is already part of my rest."
Arielle was speechless. She looked sadly at the book in the man’s hand. The girl also wondered, did the job that took up a lot of his sleep included providing all her father’s requests?
She read a much-reduced budget arrangement. Arielle did not understand the budget line as she hadn’t studied it yet. But she understood some of the words there. There were many names of expensive goods, and it could be that these were the items requested as well.
Arielle grabbed the book and then closed it making Ronan raise his brows, looking confused. Arielle turned her head for a moment and smiled sweetly. She made Ronan enchanted by looking at the beautiful face of the girl in front of him. Arielle immediately blocked Ronan’s face, who wanted to kiss her.
The girl patted her thigh lightly.
"Here. Take a break. Close your eyes for a moment," said the girl.
"But I want to kiss you," said Ronan, who grabbed Arielle’s hand to release his lips.
Arielle shook her head slowly.
"Not for tonight. Just rest for a bit," the girl asked, making Ronan chuckle a little when he saw Arielle was so adorable. When she begged, her eyes narrowed.
"Sure, I’m going to rest now."
Ronan laid down and placed his head on Arielle’s lap. Arielle stroked the man’s hair gently. Ronan’s neck, which had been tense all this time, began to feel more relaxed. The tiredness of the past few days had disappeared, and his eyes felt heavier now.
These few days, Ronan couldn’t sleep. The thought of Arielle going to the South made the man feel very anxious. He had already informed all his spies in Nieverdelel to look after Arielle after the girl came home, and they had received all the messages.
Even after they made love, Ronan couldn’t close his eyes. He chose to look at Arielle’s face for a long time to save the memory of the girl to keep for while Arielle returned to the South. He was also busy with several other royal duties.
Priest Louise had agreed to the king’s wish to have a private marriage and a public coronation of a queen. Ronan wanted everyone to know the Queen of Northendell.
Since he wanted the procession to be done perfectly and grandly, preparations had already begun for an event that was to come in a few months.
Gathering various royal nobles around the world was not an easy job. Only one thing made Ronan a little relieved that Arielle was going South. That was, on the next full moon, the girl would not be in the palace. This meant that the wolf had no chance of harming Arielle.
"Arielle, in the future. Please hide well during the full moon, okay?" the man asked, making Arielle confused. She knew that Ronan would lose control at every full moon. But she didn’t understand the purpose of the man saying that so suddenly.
"Yes, I will hide well. You won’t find me anywhere," Arielle said, half chuckled.
