Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 145: Discussion With Priest Ellis
"Sorry," the priest said, trying to calm his persistent cough.
Ronan smiled lopsidedly at the surprised face of Priest Elis.
"Sorry, Your Majesty. I didn’t mean to be rude."
"It does not matter."
Priest Elis tried to calm his heart from being shocked and thought calmly.
"Do you want to get married, Princess Arielle?"
Priest Elis turned to Arielle, whose face was glorious. The girl nodded slowly in agreement which made the man smile.
"This news is really shocking, but I’m so happy to hear it."
Priest Elis told the truth. After a long search for a queen candidate, eventually, the position would be filled again. He thought getting Princess Arielle as their queen was a gift in itself. From the first time he met Princess Arielle, the man knew that the girl was very special.
From the first day Princess Arielle came to the Cathedral, Priest Elis was happy to know that the girl had an interest in mana science. The girl had a strong will. It could be seen from her efforts to work and make money even though, in the end, the king found out and made her stop.
That was what Princess Arielle did to be able to study after returning to the South later. As a priest as well as a scientist, Priest Elis had always admired people who had a great desire to learn.
Also, he would prefer Princess Arielle stayed in the North. There would have been more time for Priest Elis to learn about the anomaly that occurred during their first meeting, as well as the phenomenon of light that the king spoke of.
During the reign of the previous king, the queen’s position had the responsibility of overseeing the Cathedral, therefore Priest Elis also felt happy. That meant he would cooperate with Princess Arielle.
The queen was in charge of evaluating the running of the Cathedral, and leading church events alongside the priests. The queen was like a protective figure, a mother for all the kingdom’s subjects. So having a queen who was warm, friendly, and kind, just like Arielle, would make the kingdom more prosperous.
Finally, William and he could stop getting the terror from the nobles who kept trying to introduce their daughters to the king. Priest Elis was really grateful for that.
"The royal wedding will be arranged by Cathedral, won’t it?" Ronan asked Priest Elis.
"That’s right, Your Majesty. There will be two separate events. The wedding and the coronation of the queen."
When she heard about the coronation procession to become queen, Arielle’s body suddenly stiffened and she pulled her hand from Ronan’s grip. The man knew what Arielle was worried about. It seemed their conversation still couldn’t erase Arielle’s doubts completely.
Ronan turned to Priest Elis and asked. "Priest, tell us about the love story of the fifth King of Northendell who loved his wife very much."
Priest Elis who was suddenly told to tell a story became confused. He looked up at the king, but Ronan just lifted his chin to order him to start talking. Even though he did not understand the purpose of the king asking him to tell the story, Priest Elis still started it.
"Er... well, the story of this fifth king is quite legendary because he was the first king to refuse an arranged marriage with a princess from the West."
Priest Elis told a story about how the princess from the Western Kingdom was very beautiful. She had very beautiful green eyes, pink hair like flowers that bloom in spring. The princess was famous for her beauty and grace. The fourth king of Northendell wanted to betroth the crown prince, soon to be the fifth king, to the princess from Wolgast.
Arrangements had been discussed, and the west had accepted the proposal. However, before the North picked up the Princess from the West, the Crown Prince simply disappeared.
The next day, the Crown Prince said that he could not marry the Princess of Wolgast, who was famous for her beauty.
It turned out that during this time, the Crown Prince had met another noblewoman. The woman he had longed for was the daughter of a Baron. She had not the best education, nor was she as beautiful as a princess from Wolgast.
The Crown Prince said that he could not marry any women except the baron’s daughter. Wolgast felt humiliated. A war broke out between Northendell and Wolgast at that time, and the king expelled the baron out of the Northern territories.
The baron’s daughter also left the crown prince and travelled with her family, leaving the crown prince with a broken heart.
The Wolgast Kingdom had cancelled their princess’s betrothal to the crown prince of Northendell. The Crown Prince chose not to marry. Even when he was made the fifth king of Northendell, he did not marry until he was forty years old. When King Northendell was visiting the countryside, suddenly he found his first love again, who was working as a servant.
Now there was no longer a barrier for the king to propose to the woman he loved because it turned out that the woman was also never married. Becoming Queen of Northendell was not something easy.
Coming from a small noble family and ending up as a servant in a suburban village didn’t necessarily make her give up. The king who loved his wife very much helped the queen learn slowly, and in the end, the kingdom accepted the queen with open arms.
"Since then, we have never seen the background of our queen. All education and wisdom can be obtained by studying. The most important thing is a queen’s love for her king and her people. That’s all we need. We need a warm mother," said Priest Elis concluding his short story.
"Hm?’" Ronan watched Arielle closely.
He wanted the girl to be sure that Arielle had been chosen as his wife and queen, so that meant he would not leave her alone. Ronan would always be by her side to teach Arielle many things.
