Chapter 146: Priest Elis’ Concern

Arielle nodded her head, assuring herself that she was ready for her new responsibilities.

"I promise to study harder too," she said, making Priest Elis and Ronan smile at the same time.

"Ah, speaking of the wedding procession. I came here to ask for your help speaking to Priest Louise to bless our marriage."

"My father?" asked Priest Elis, quite surprised.

"That’s right. Priest Louise was the one who gave me his blessing at my coronation as a king. So I want him to also give the blessing to our wedding."

"Ah, Father will surely be pleased to hear that, Your Majesty."

"Then, I want to ask one more thing. Can our wedding procession be done privately?"

"In private?" asked Priest Elis to be sure.

Arielle wasn’t too pushy, it’s just that for her, spending time with the closest people would be better. But if the Cathedral or Priest Elis didn’t allow it, then Arielle would do what the North wanted. She didn’t really care about her preferences.

Priest Elis rose from his chair and walked towards a large bookshelf at the end of his room. Ronan held Arielle’s hand again, making the girl smile.

The girl leaned slightly and asked Ronan to come closer. She covered her lips in a whisper, "Actually, I don’t really want a private wedding. If we can’t have a private wedding, we can have a wedding as usual. I don’t mind it at all."

Ronan raised his eyebrows.

"Why do you change your mind?" he asked.

"Oh, no-no. I... just don’t want to bother Priest Elis if we do the wedding in some other way outside of Northern tradition."

Ronan cupped Arielle’s face. Priest Elis who had found the book he was looking for, turned around. But when he saw the faces of the king and Princess Arielle were very close, the man immediately turned back and pretended to browse the bookshelf in front of him.

If that was the case, Ronan wanted to ensure Arielle’s dream wedding to be realized even more. He didn’t want her to keep undermining herself and putting other people first. Well, that was one of Arielle’s good qualities. It’s just that if she’s with him, Ronan wanted Arielle to be more selfish.

"You don’t have to worry. A little change won’t hurt anyone. After all, marrying with fewer guests would be less troublesome, wouldn’t it?"

Arielle nodded, then sat back straight on her sofa, waiting for Priest Elis to find whatever the man needed. After glancing back and making sure the king and Princess Arielle were not in a serious conversation, Priest Elis turned around, carrying a thick book with a maroon leather cover.

"This is a record of the marriage of the previous king and crown prince. There will be two processions to be carried out. The wedding in the Cathedral and the Coronation which will be held openly in the palace." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Priest Elis opened a page and read the wedding procession in the Cathedral.

"For the wedding procession, we can do it privately. It is noted here that Cathedral guests are invitations that the bride and groom write by hand, which means you can choose who the guests will be, Your Highness."

Arielle smiled broadly at that.

"But after that, at least you will have to meet the people who will come. Then Princess Arielle will be led to the great hall of Blackthorn Palace for the coronation as a queen. For this procession, you cannot choose who our guests are because all representatives of the nobles will be waiting to be witnesses."

Arielle was silent for a moment, but remembering that Ronan would be there, made Arielle throw away her doubts. The girl nodded towards Priest Elis, making Ronan, who had been watching her, smile with satisfaction.

"As for the time of the wedding..."

"As soon as possible," said Ronan interrupting Priest Elis’ conversation. The priest just smiled, understanding the impatience of the man in front of him. However, a king’s nuptials and the coronation of a queen was certainly not an overnight affair.

"Your Majesty, about this topic... can we discuss it first?"

"Why? Is there a problem?"

Priest Elis was still smiling. Ronan thought the man was trying to tell him something but didn’t want Arielle to hear. Arielle, who had been watching, understood what the man meant.

"Your Majesty, I ask permission to go ahead. I wish to visit the Cathedral hall to pray."

Ronan nodded and unhooked their hands. "I’ll pick you up when I’m done with this."

"No rush," Arielle replied.

The girl got up and then lowered her head slowly towards Priest Elis. The priest also rose from his chair and then bowed respectfully until Arielle left the room.

When the door to his room closed again, Priest Elis sat back down in his place. He closed the book of the previous king’s marriage records and put them aside.

The room was very quiet. Neither Ronan nor Priest Elis had started their delayed conversation. Ronan knocked his index finger in anticipation.

"So?" asked the man to open the conversation again.

"Ah, sorry if what I’m about to say after this is not pleasing to you."

Ronan took a sip of his coffee, waiting for Priest Elis to continue his sentence.

"This is regarding Princess Arielle’s status, Your Majesty."

Hearing that, Ronan just rolled his eyes disinterestedly. Even so, he did not try to interrupt Priest Elis’ words.

"Princess Arielle came here as a prisoner to replace a wolf that was killed by Prince Alexis. One day, when Nieverdell manages to find a replacement wolf pup, we must immediately return Princess Arielle because Princess Arielle is still a Nieverdell person. And in this case, she is a daughter of a king."

Priest Elis was feeling nervous now. He was really happy to hear that Princess Arielle was willing to marry King Ronan. He was also glad that Princess Arielle would be the queen of the North. However, from Priest Elis’s perspective, it was very clear that the king was pushing the princess to get married as soon as possible.

Well, maybe it wouldn’t be a big problem if the woman he was going to marry was still from the North or member of the nobility from the North themselves. Marrying a princess of another kingdom would require more effort and time. King Ronan could not immediately marry Princess Arielle without telling the South this news.

They needed even more effort if the South had a special request for them to hand over Arielle as a bride to the North. Not to mention if they asked for a lot of gifts for the proposal. The marriage of a king’s daughter would definitely not be taken lightly.

Wherever they were from, whether from the North, East, South to West. Marrying a royal princess meant the same as giving their diamonds to another party. Naturally, they asked for compensation.

"We should at least tell the South this news and seek the approval of King Hugo as the father of Princess Arielle herself."

Ronan let out a long sigh. He didn’t want that. After all, Arielle had not been treated well so far. The girl only learned to read and write when she was in the North.

Arielle was indeed very valuable. Thousands of diamonds could not replace her. It was just that Ronan was a little unwilling to give it to the Southerners. Ronan wanted to give them all to Arielle. Only Arielle he wanted to spoil. Not her family.

"I will still marry her."
