Chapter 137: William Praises Arielle

The boy looked up and looked around him. His mouth opened, feeling flabbergasted by the scene before him. He immediately knew that he was now in the palace compound.

The child saw the edge of the towering and shining palace from a distance many times before. Now, the towering building was in front of him. He immediately understood that the people who saved him most probably coming from the palace. Were they royalty? He was wondering.

Arielle touched the boy’s shoulders and motioned for him to follow her. She suddenly remembered something and told Tania to prepare warm food for the child. Tania then led the boy to enter the Whitethorn Palace.

Arielle turned and rushed to the king, who was still standing faithfully waiting for Arielle to remember that he was still there.

Now the girl was standing in front of him.

"I will clean the child’s wound with Tania then ask what happened to him so that tomorrow we can return him home. You can rest, Your Majesty. Thank you for being so kind to help the child."

Ronan was speechless. The man honestly felt compelled to bring the boy back with them, but he couldn’t refuse Arielle’s request, especially when it came to the girl’s feelings. Ronan simply didn’t want Arielle to worry too much if they left the child alone in the cold snow.

He did everything for Arielle, but the girl was grateful for something else. Arielle still thought he helped the child out of pity. Hm... maybe Ronan really needed to learn a little sympathy.

The man nodded slowly.

"Then let me return to Whitethorn Palace," said Arielle and curtsied to the king.

The girl turned away, leaving Ronan, who was still looking at the back of the girl who walked off quickly. After he made sure Arielle was out of sight, he let out a long sigh. He gave the horse reins he had been holding on to a knight who was about to return.

William caught up with Ronan and walked beside the man.

"Haven’t you been very gentle lately, Your Majesty?" asked William teasingly.

Ronan rolled his eyes in annoyance to see William who continued to gesture with his eyebrows, coupled with a knowing smile.

"Shut up," he said, looking really annoyed.

"You know, a woman like Princess Arielle really amazes me." William straightened and scratched his head awkwardly.

"Princess Arielle is... like the sunshine that I rarely see in the North. She is warm and bright. Maybe she is shy and clumsy, but Princess Arielle makes people around her feel comfortable. Kael himself told me that he almost fell in love with Princess Arielle."

Ronan stopped in his tracks and glared at William. William, who had anticipated the reaction, only chuckled.

"Calm down... I said ’ALMOST’," William replied jokingly. "Kael won’t take Princess Arielle from you. We all know you’re obsessed with her."

William stepped forward and stood smiling at Ronan, who was frowning in confusion at William’s unpredictable attitude.

"Lucas said that Princess Arielle has the potential to become a queen who is loved by her people. I may rarely interact with Princess Arielle, so I thought he was exaggerating, but after seeing the sympathy that Princess Arielle has, my heart trembles and agrees. Princess Arielle is a woman most worthy to be your companion."

Ronan smiled briefly behind his mask. His eyebrows rose as William’s silly face turned serious.

"Princess Arielle doesn’t really know much about the outside world. She is still vulnerable to manipulation and bad influences. I hope you can take good care of her because I, Kael, and Lucas agree on one thing. If you hurt Princess Arielle, we will leave you at once."

William had omitted the honorific while talking to him.

Ronan narrowed his eyes disapprovingly. He hated having people tell him the obvious. And who was William to threaten him anyways?

"You’re threatening me, William? With that stupid agreement you made while being drunk?"

The man’s serious face only lasted a few seconds before returning to his broad smile. William moved to the king’s side and nudged the man’s body with his shoulder, giving a small chuckle at the king’s irritable tongue click.

"Do I look drunk now?" he asked, laughing like a drunken man.

Ronan stepped away and forward faster, and William took larger strides to follow after the king’s footsteps.

"Hey, hey, hey, I didn’t mean to offend you, Ronan. But we were really serious about that last night."

"You think I’d do it? You don’t know anything, William. I’ll punish myself if I hurt Arielle," said Ronan, annoyed. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

William gave up following the man’s footsteps. He let Ronan leave him alone and scratched his neck.

"Looks like I misspoke. The guy hasn’t softened completely yet," he muttered.

William turned the other way. He looked at the very dark night. The snow was falling harder while he walked leisurely. Who thought the North would finally have a queen? The thought of Arielle with a queen’s crown on the girl’s head made William smile broadly.

He knew that Ronan really liked the princess. He hoped the man could guide the princess well. Of the many women who always roamed by the king’s side in the past, only Princess Arielle was worthy.

She was someone who, according to him, was very suitable to bear the diamond crown, which was still well preserved in the Cathedral.

There used to be several nobles who introduced their daughters at parties at the palace, one of which was Lady Fiona, ’Princess’ of Duke Colley. However, nothing really caught the king’s attention. Even more after a while ago, Duke Colley had made a huge mistake. It was very likely that the king still harbored a grudge against the man.

William combed his hair, enjoying the cold northern night, which was pleasant. Normally, he hated the bone-chilling cold of the North, but that night was different.

Even though he couldn’t see a single star in the sky, his heart was warm enough to imagine that soon they would have a queen ... if the king dared to ask Princess Arielle.
