Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 65: Chasing After His Wife
Forrest Keller’s messages were somewhat puzzling.
Stella Grant believed they weren’t familiar enough to say good morning to each other and ask about personal daily plans.
After Stella sent the message, Forrest immediately replied: "Nothing, just asking casually."
Forrest asked casually, but Stella didn’t reply casually, mixing truth with lies: "Going home with my boyfriend to see my mom."
After Stella sent that message, Forrest didn’t reply, as if it sank into the sea.
Stella waited for a little over a minute, sure that Forrest wouldn’t reply, and stepped back into the bedroom to change clothes.
Ray Woods, like his voice, looked gentle and scholarly, giving off a very reliable impression.
When they met, Ray took the initiative to extend his hand, "Hello, Ray Woods."
Stella smiled as she shook back, "Stella Grant."
Ray said, "Let me take the suitcase, you get in the car."
Saying this, Ray took the suitcase from Stella’s hand and conveniently opened the passenger door for her.
On the way to Brynnfield, they exchanged some basic information. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
For instance, Ray is the manager of the sales department at Sutton Group, and also about his family background and academic experience.
An hour later, the car arrived in Brynnfield, and they had exchanged most of their basic information.
As they passed a supermarket, Stella intended to ask Ray to stop so she could buy something, but Ray informed her that the gifts had already been prepared.
Stella never liked owing favors, let alone having people spend money for her, "I can’t believe you’ve gone to the expense."
Ray laughed and said, "Didn’t Sue tell you? I go on blind dates every weekend, and the first step in dating is to give gifts. One more for you is no more, one less is no less. To be honest, my mom prepared a bunch, it’s more a matter of getting them out rather than keeping them at home."
Even though Ray said so, Stella was still embarrassed to accept the gifts from him.
Ray realized her hesitance, chuckled, and said, "Alright, if you feel guilty accepting my gifts, when my parents insist that I bring a girlfriend home someday, you can pretend to be my girlfriend."
Stella smiled broadly, "Sure, I’ll prepare the gifts then."
Ray didn’t stand on ceremony, "Okay."
The chat was pleasant, and being the cousin of Sue, Stella asked to lighten the mood, "You’re such a great guy, it shouldn’t be hard to find a girlfriend, why are you still going on blind dates?"
Ray laughed and shook his head, "It’s not easy, I’m a straight guy."
Stella, "You’re still straight?"
Ray turned his head with feigned surprise, "Have you seen through my façade and realized I’m bent?"
They exchanged glances and Stella burst into laughter, "My bad, a slip of the tongue."
Ray laughed as well, "It’s not your slip, it’s the depth of Chinese literature."
Amidst their banter, the car arrived at the community where Mrs. Grant lived.
Ray had prepared a lot of gifts, carrying large and small bags, and also helped Stella with her suitcase.
Stella intended to take it herself, but Ray stepped back to avoid her, "Don’t move, let me leave a good impression on Auntie, so if we ’break up’ later, she’ll think it’s you who wronged me."
Stella gave a radiant smile.
Indeed, one family can’t cultivate two different personalities.
From this journey, she realized that while Ray seemed composed, he was essentially the same as Sue in nature.
They went upstairs, and Stella pulled out her keys to open the door. Mrs. Grant heard the noise and came out of the kitchen, wearing an apron.
Upon seeing Mrs. Grant, Ray promptly greeted, "Hello, Auntie."
Mrs. Grant returned a gentle smile, "Hello, you didn’t have to bring so much stuff just by coming."
Ray smiled and continued, "It’s my first visit to see you, it’s the least I can do."
Ray’s affable nature quickly familiarized him with Mrs. Grant, and he even ended up assisting her in the kitchen.
Seeing this, Stella took out her phone and sent a message to Sue: "Your cousin’s amazing, he won over my mom in no time."
Sue replied: "Why not consider making a play into reality?"
Stella: "Not considering it, heartbreak is like a landslide, revival is like unraveling a cocoon."
Sue: "Consider carefully, miss this village and there won’t be this shop. My cousin among men is definitely a one in ten thousand."
Stella: "Have you ever seen a one in ten thousand man needing a sales pitch?"
Sue: "..."
Seeing Sue’s ellipsis reply, Stella suppressed a laugh at the corner of her mouth.
This harmonious atmosphere lasted until noon when the three were about to eat. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Stella went to open it with a smile, but when she saw who was outside, she was momentarily stunned.
Forrest Keller stood outside the door, with an expression on his face that was hard to describe as either awkward or something else. He looked at Stella with an awkward smile and said, "Manager Grant, are you available now? President Sutton wants to discuss some business with you."
