Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 64: Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
Stella Grant returned home, rubbing her temples irritably as she climbed the stairs.
Went downstairs for nothing, got teased a few times, didn’t get anything useful.
Of course, it’s not like she got nothing; at least she confirmed that it was Silas Sutton who sent someone to beat up Flynn Shepherd.
Stella Grant took out her keys, opened the door, and just as she entered, she received a WeChat message from Sue Woods.
It wasn’t a message, but three pictures again.
This time the pictures were not photos, but three chat records.
Stella Grant clicked open and took a glance, smirking mockingly.
Human warmth and the tendency to kick someone when they’re down were vividly depicted in these three chat screenshots.
They were chat screenshots from Flynn Shepherd’s family group, probably leaked by Flynn’s cousin.
The first one was a slew of relatives condemning Flynn Shepherd for embarrassing them, making it hard for some close relatives to hold their heads high back home.
The second one was a few relatives pressing Flynn Shepherd to pay back the money, threatening to call the police if he didn’t pay within a week.
The third was Mrs. Shepherd’s retaliatory message, calling those relatives ungrateful wretches.
After looking at the three chat screenshots, Stella Grant closed the images and the chat box showed the latest message from Sue Woods: Tomorrow’s Friday, are you planning to take my cousin back on Friday night or Saturday?
Stella Grant thought about it. If they went back on Friday night, Mrs. Grant would surely offer them to stay the night out of courtesy. It’s better to go back on Saturday, go in the morning, return in the evening, and just say Sunday she needs to work overtime.
Stella Grant: Is 8 AM on Saturday okay?
Sue Woods: No problem.
Stella Grant: Please say thank you to your cousin for me.
Sue Woods replied with an ’OK’ emoji.
The emoji from Sue Woods was amusing, and Stella Grant smiled at the corner of her mouth, not replying further.
She didn’t tell Sue Woods about meeting Silas Sutton today.
Not for any particular reason, just that she was already a mess herself and worried that telling Sue would only add fuel to the fire, making her more vexed.
Dinner with Silas Sutton was over; Stella Grant found she had rare free time and curled up on the couch to watch a comedy movie.
She didn’t actually have any project planning to do today; she lied to Silas Sutton, simply not wanting to spend too much time alone with him.
Thinking of Silas Sutton, the memory of being drunk that night suddenly flashed in Stella Grant’s mind.
Initially, she indeed drank a bit too much, but what about later on?
Later on, she sobered up.
The next day.
After taking two days off in a row, Stella Grant saw a stack of documents needing her signature as soon as she entered the office.
Since her last assistant got transferred, the HR department has been slow to arrange a new assistant for her.
Last night, before bed, the HR supervisor told her via message that a new assistant would report today.
Around 9:30 AM, while Stella Grant was handling the backlog of documents, the new assistant knocked on her office door.
Stella Grant responded with a ’come in’, and the door pushed open as a girl in her early twenties walked in.
Seeing Stella Grant, the girl appeared slightly uneasy, "Manager Grant, hello, I’m Wendy Ford, the new assistant reporting for duty."
Stella Grant asked, "Have you worked as an assistant before?"
The girl dared not brag, honestly saying, "I, I just graduated from college, I’m new."
Stella Grant understood, "Got it, no worries, you can learn slowly. Familiarize yourself with the tasks at your workstation first, if there’s anything you don’t understand, feel free to ask me."
When Wendy Ford first got hired, she heard quite a few rumors about Stella Grant.
All of them were bad without exception.
Some said she was cold-blooded, others said she had a messy private life.
Now seeing Stella Grant, she suddenly realized that rumors, true or false, were 80% unreliable.
Not knowing Wendy Ford’s inner thoughts, Stella Grant, upon seeing Wendy standing still, raised an eyebrow lightly, "Do you have any other questions?"
Wendy Ford sincerely replied, "Manager Grant, although I’m a newbie who knows nothing, I’ll definitely work hard to learn."
Stella Grant smiled gently at that, "Alright."
Seeing Stella Grant smile at her, Wendy Ford couldn’t help but blush, "Manager, Manager Grant, you’re busy, I’ll, I’ll be going now."
Saying this, she nervously turned around, walking out with awkwardly synchronized steps.
Stella Grant, "??"
This girl seemed pretty interesting.
The day flew by, especially when one poured all their energy into work.
After a busy day, Stella Grant went home, had a simple dinner, and went to bed early.
The next morning, while Stella Grant was brushing her teeth, she received a call from Sue Woods’ cousin.
From the voice, he seemed like a very steady man, speaking politely and courteously.
Completely different from Sue Woods’ lively personality.
They agreed to meet at the entrance of Stella Grant’s apartment complex, and he was also very gentlemanly, "I’ll drive to pick you up."
Stella Grant felt embarrassed to let him drive, "Let’s take my car. You give me the address, and I’ll pick you up."
He said, "A boyfriend should act like a boyfriend, even if it’s fake, it should look real."
At his words, Stella Grant couldn’t bring herself to refuse, so she thanked him with a smile.
After hanging up with Ray Woods, Stella Grant was about to change clothes when she received a WeChat message from Forrest Keller: Good morning, Manager Grant.
Stella Grant was slightly taken aback, politely replying, "Good morning, Assistant Keller."
Forrest Keller: Does Manager Grant have any plans for the weekend?
Stella Grant: What’s up?
