Chapter 63: Chapter 63: A Favor Hard to Repay

Silas Sutton asked with a tone full of intrigue, his expression meaningful.

Stella Grant pressed her lips into a straight line, feeling as if she was sitting on pins and needles, deeply aware that Silas Sutton’s question struck right at her soul.

Deeply in love with her boyfriend, yet turning around and rolling in bed with another man.

It seemed like something no respectable woman would do, no matter how you looked at it.

Stella Grant had always conducted herself righteously, but this sudden issue with her behavior made her feel lost and a bit overwhelmed.

Not admitting it, there was no way to move past it.

Admitting it, her well-bred upbringing simply wouldn’t allow it.

Just as Stella Grant was struggling with how to get over this hurdle, the noodle shop owner came over with two bowls of noodles.

Putting the noodles down, the noodle shop owner gave Silas Sutton a couple of extra glances and winked as he asked Stella Grant, "Boyfriend?"

Stella Grant responded with difficulty, "No, it’s my boss."

Even though they weren’t in the same company, there were some work connections, rounding it up, he could be considered her boss.

So technically, she wasn’t lying.

The noodle shop owner didn’t believe it, his expression even more intriguing than Silas Sutton’s.

Which boss would have nothing better to do than accompany a subordinate to eat noodles in a small noodle shop?

And this noodle shop was right at the entrance of the subordinate’s housing complex.

The noodle shop owner, aged forty-five, married with kids, having gone through it all, saw through everything clearly, smiled, understood but didn’t expose it, and when he turned around, he even had the server bring over two plates of cold dishes for the two of them.

Silas Sutton looked at a plate of shredded potatoes and a plate of celery with peanuts and raised his eyebrows lightly, "How much is a bowl of noodles?"

Stella Grant said, "My bowl is eleven, and yours is fifteen."

The difference between a small and a large bowl.

Having never experienced ’the taste of the human world,’ Silas Sutton was deeply surprised, "Twenty-six yuan for noodles and they even give two plates of cold dishes?" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Stella Grant looked down and stirred the noodles in her bowl, "This is what you call human affection."

Silas Sutton, "Are you implying that I lack human affection? Or that I don’t understand human affection?"

Stella Grant fell silent, "..."

The questions Stella Grant initially wanted to ask Silas Sutton were ultimately left unasked.

She didn’t dare to speak at all, feeling that any words she said would be shut down by Silas Sutton with no room left for response.

After finishing a bowl of noodles, Stella Grant stood up to pay the bill, with Silas Sutton closely behind her, his height of six foot one made him feel like a wall standing behind her. Before she could pay, he reached over and directly scanned the QR code at the counter.

Seeing this, Stella Grant turned her head, "President Sutton, we agreed that I would treat this meal."

Silas Sutton, without changing his expression, said in a low, deep voice, "Who did you make that agreement with? You owe me so much, and you think you can get away with just a bowl of noodles?"

Listening to Silas Sutton’s words and looking at his expression, for the first time, Stella Grant sensed two opposing adjectives from a person.

Unreasonable & Reasonable.

After leaving the noodle shop, Silas Sutton stood at the entrance, shielding the wind with his hand, and lit a cigarette, took a couple of shallow puffs, and looked down at Stella Grant, saying, "Flynn Shepherd won’t bother you anymore, just focus on your work in peace; what’s past is past, don’t dwell on it."

Whether it was a delusion or not, Stella Grant felt that Silas Sutton was comforting her at that moment.

Stella Grant nodded, after all, he had helped her, and she still needed to thank him, "Thank you, President Sutton."

Silas Sutton, "Go on back."

Stella Grant’s lips moved slightly, wanting to say something but ultimately saying nothing, "Take care."

Silas Sutton chuckled lowly, holding the cigarette, "Hmm."

Although they said their goodbyes, they still walked a part of the way together.

Back at the complex, Silas Sutton got into his car while Stella Grant went upstairs.

Silas Sutton drove out of the complex, stopping at a corner’s intersection, got out, and headed to the back seat of the car. Forrest Keller appeared out of nowhere like an undercover agent meeting his contact, slid into the driver’s seat.

The car got back on the road, and Forrest Keller glanced at the rearview mirror, seeing that Silas Sutton seemed in a good mood, tentatively asked, "President Sutton."

Silas Sutton glanced up, "Hmm?"

Forrest Keller touched his nose and asked, "Do you like Manager Grant?"

Silas Sutton’s eyes were deep, not revealing any true emotions, "Do I?"

Forrest Keller laughed awkwardly, internally thinking: Pretend I didn’t ask.
