Legendary Beast Tamer: Starting With Legendary Rank Sword-Chapter 39: A Frightening Smile
The Frostpelt Lynx was the same size as Felix’s upper torso.
Hence, he was able to see clearly the image of the lynx leaping towards him.
He grasped the hilt of his sword with his right hand and his left hand was on his scabbard, slightly drawing his sword.
As soon as the lynx spread its claws and aimed at him, Felix fully drew his sword and swung swiftly at the lynx’s claw.
The sword smoothly cut through the lynx’s claws, moving towards its body in a fluid motion.
The lynx was severed in a half, unable to stop even a slight momentum of the sword.
The examiner was utterly surprised.
He thought. The energy of the sword radiated similarly to beasts at the Unique rank, so what should I expect?
He waved at his other examiners and they released more Frostpelt Lynx.
They raised many Frostpelt Lynx for other beast tamers to be contracted as their beast pet, but once they grew adult, it was difficult to tame them.
Their predatory instinct would always act up, possibly injuring the soul of a beast tamer, who tried to establish a soul contract with them.
Instead of getting rid of them at once, the Beast Tamer Association, especially the Beast Supply and Rearing Department, finally decided to send most of them for assessment or training.
Hence, they could easily release up to six Frostpelt Lynx at once to assess Felix’s overall strength.
As Felix was about to push his sword back to his scabbard, gazing intently at the six Frostpelt Lynx in front of him, the examiner said, "It’s fine. Your drawing speed, movement acceleration, and striking timing precision has been analyzed. This time, we’ll test your stamina and mental state. Of course, that includes the strength test, we still aren’t finished with that one."
Felix nodded and grabbed his scabbard out of his belt and slowly put it on the ground to prevent distraction during the battle.
He communicated with his sword as it radiated water energy, or water qi, from its body.
However, it wasn’t sword qi since it wasn’t Felix, who radiated it. It was simply the sword’s doing, showcasing the Unique rank it attained.
Felix, on the other hand, was mentally worn out after the Flowing Rain Sword utilized his water qi to amplify himself since he was also consuming the qi inside his owner’s body.
It was inevitable, Felix was using the sword at the cost of his qi.
Thankfully, he already reached Awakener Rank 5 after receiving the restored body of the sword, causing his body to receive an abundant qi.
Gazing intently at the Frostpelt Lynx who finally leapt at him while being spread around, Felix trusted the skills he learned from the grey silhouette.
Despite seeing six Frostpelt Lynx, he was seeing something far different—the dark grey silhouette that attacked the grey silhouette.
This would be the first time Felix utilized his skills that reached level 3 after enlightenment.
The moment the first Frostpelt Lynx swung its claws, Felix severed its claws and its body in a half.
In a split second, a Frostpelt Lynx followed and attacked his right part of the nape, but Felix, utilizing the qi from his sword to enhance his whole body to react swiftly, shifted his body and swung the sword right at it.
He severed the second Frostpelt Lynx in a half, but just as he did so, he turned his back against the third Frostpelt Lynx whose claw was an inch away from Felix’s nape.
Felix’s hair stood on and, without hesitation, he borrowed a bit of qi from his sword to strengthen his feet and performed the Pattering Step Level 3.
He fluidly dropped to the floor and rolled around, quickly getting back up on his feet.
He glanced at the third Frostpelt Lynx, not recognizing that the fourth Frostpelt Lynx was already above him, swinging its claws on his forehead.
Felix gritted his teeth and struck precisely at the paw of the Frostpelt Lynx, smoothly moving forward to sever its body in a half.
He huffed heavily. Being an Awakener rank while wearing a sword that was at the Unique rank—two major ranks higher than him—took a heavy toll on his body.
He clucked his tongue in annoyance. How stupid of me to completely rely on my sword in exchange for my stamina and qi reserves. This is just so wrong. Or perhaps, this is just how to execute my skills better with my current sword?
Felix was vexed. He couldn’t come up with a better way of fighting with his sword.
As he prepared for the fifth Frostpelt Lynx’s attack that was drawing near, the Guide’s voice echoed on his head.
[Once you return to the dojo, host, you must practice with the wooden sword first. Understand your current strength before fighting again with a Flowing Rain Sword.]
Felix silently listened to the Guide’s advice as he swung his sword for two consecutive times, killing the fifth and sixth Frostpelt Lynx.
Now, the remaining one was only the third Frostpelt Lynx, who seemed to have noticed his exhausted state.
Felix was huffing with breath, he was heavily perspiring.
Just as the examiner was about to summon his beast to kill the Frostpelt Lynx by himself, he noticed Felix’s fiery gaze directed at the Frostpelt Lynx.
He beamed a smile and finally decided to only act when it was necessary.
Felix took a basic stance and tried his best to fight against the exhaustion as the Frostpelt Lynx circled him, as though waiting for him to drop to the floor out of exhaustion.
Felix thought. If I attack first and I miss after he evades, I’ll be done for. However...
Felix communicated with his sword and told him to calm down in consuming his qi first.
The Flowing Rain Sword was actually taken aback, not noticing that his owner was already exhausted.
He was so immersed in fighting that he didn’t even notice his qi consumption on his owner.
He wanted to blame himself, but Felix assured him that it was inevitable in the first place.
The Flowing Rain Sword by then finally became conscious in consuming the qi of his owner as he waited for his command.
Felix, on the other hand, suddenly dropped his shoulder and bent his knees while breathing heavily.
The Frostpelt Lynx saw it was the perfect chance to strike and leap at him.
The examiner had already summoned his beast, a Rare rank turtle that has skill to project a tangible shield to protect Felix just in case.
However, he was taken aback when Felix was suddenly filled with vigor, gritting his teeth as he severed the Frostpelt Lynx with a swift swing of his sword.
The Frostpelt Lynx was utterly surprised as well. To its horror, its body was severed in half, spraying blood towards Felix.
Felix, at this point, was already drenched with blood, while huffing heavily. He could barely open his eyes.
He brought the Flowing Rain Sword closer to him and said, "Good job."
However, the Flowing Rain Sword barely responded, worried by its owner’s current state.
Felix stared at the scabbard and began to saunter towards it, but the examiner quickly grabbed the scabbard and brought it to him.
Felix thanked him as he pushed the sword on the scabbard and perceived the disappearance of the culprit, who continuously consumed his stamina and qi.
He beamed a smile.
However, his smile was frightening when his face was covered with blood.
