Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 256: Grandparents battling it out....2
Thirty minutes later, Judge Gong gave the floor to Lady Chi’s side and lawyer Fu, a corporate attorney whose was used to the Baby v. Everybody tradition among the Jun’s and their in-laws took the floor.
He took a deep breath first and smiled at the Judge. "Your most excellent beautiful honor."
"Pft!" Rose burst into laughter.
Lawyer Fu continued on as if he was deaf to the laughter. All he cared about was that the judge was smiling. "We are all here today because Little Jun..." He emphasized and repeated, "Jun Mingzhu, a beloved granddaughter whose two very lonely grandparents have been longing to meet for six years."
The lonely grandparents held hands, Chi Lian sniffed like she was softly crying and Jun Muyang’s head hung low as if grief was swallowing him.
Madam Feng’s eyes widened in surprise. She did not know the game could be played like this!!
"Damn, they are pulling out the big guns." Rose whispered to Mei Mei.
Mei Mei shook her head. They were being ridiculous, all of the people involved in this custody hearing.
In the meantime, Mingzhu and Jingzhe had fallen asleep, forgetting where they were and what was going on. Each of them had claimed one of Mei Mei’s shoulders, using them as pillows.
Lawyer Fu was still making his case. "These last few nine days which they have spent with their granddaughter have been life changing, satisfying, wound sealing if I should say so. My clients understand the importance of family and they are not looking to isolate or steal Miss Mingzhu from Madam Feng, as she has accused them of doing. All they want is equal time with their granddaughter.
Madam Feng gets her during the school term, they want her in holidays. Is that too much to ask?"
He presented his evidence which was pictures of all the things Mingzhu had done with her grandparents.
"All they want is a balance of time which works for both sides. Have there been a few mistakes like the seven ice creams, yes. But, that one incident should not set the tone for this hearing.
Are they demanding for more time...absolutely but this is because they have many things they want to teach Little Mingzhu like business management, ballroom dancing, swimming, ballet."
Judge Gong had no gavel so she knocked on the chair with her knuckles. "I am starving, lets wrap this up counsel. Present what holidays each side is demanding for and get this moving."
"Chinese New Year." Lawyer Fu started off strongly.
Lawyer Bao quickly stood up and objected. "Absolutely not."
Judge Gong cleared her throat, "Perhaps we should start with Qingming festival."
Lawyer Fu nodded. "We will take it. The Jun family is noble...." He looked at Madam Feng. "No offense, we do not seek to insult or belittle you in any way, we are just stating facts. There are many traditions on my client’s side of the family..."
"We accept and I am not offended." Madam Feng cut in. It was a tomb sweeping day. Mingzhu was named Jun so she did not really have any business going to the Feng family. Besides, her family was small, they did not do much on such festivals.
Judge Gong was pleased to see such quick progress. "Mid-Autumn festival." She mentioned, reading off a list of events Mediator Wei had noted down.
"Mine." Madam Feng declared. "She must learn how to eat mooncakes sideways. Besides, I make the best mooncakes in the empire."
Chi Lian rolled he eyes and folded her arms on her chest. They got death while Madam Feng got cake!!
"Lantern festival." Judge Gong read.
Chi Lian raised her hand eagerly. "My Phoenix group holds the best lantern festival event every year."
Madam Feng did not argue with that, but she rolled her eyes.
"Dragon boat festival." Judge Gong read.
Nobody raised their hand. It seemed like they had not considered this one.
"Me."
"Me."
Both women finally raised their hands.
"So both families. Noted." The judge declared. "Double seventh or valentine’s day."
Both women raised their hands, challenging each other with their stares.
"You are married Lady Chi, take your husband to dinner on Valentine’s day." Madam Feng said.
"And I know many single noble men that would marry you in a heartbeat. I will be sure to set you up." Lady Chi replied through a tight smile.
Judge Gong frowned and raised her hand. "I have to go with Madam Feng on this one Lady Chi."
Chi Lian gasped.
"Hungry ghost festival." Judge Gong read.
Madam Feng pointed at Chi Lian. "They can have it. She likes to wear black all the time anyway so I assume she honors the spirits a lot."
As Chi Lian gasped again, Judge Gong continued through little chuckles, "Double Ninth festival."
Again, Madam Feng was the first to respond. "I don’t enjoy climbing mountains but she does. Give it to them." Smirking at Chi Lian, she added, "Mingzhu does not like climbing mountains either, good luck."
Judge Gong waited for Chi Lian’s outraged gasp, laughed and went on, "Winter solstice."
"I." Madam Feng declared ownership speedily.
"National Liberation Day." Judge Gong looked around. "The Jun’s can have that one." She assigned it herself because Mingzhu was a Jun, hence a noble. She had to be with the Jun family on that day. "Labor day will go to....mmmm....Madam Feng. Youth day, women’s day and army day....let’s go with the Jun family. Panda birthday!!!"
The judge looked at Mediator Wei. "Really!"
Mediator Wei shrugged.
Both Chi Lian and Madam Feng stood up. Both women were equally tense. Mingzhu liked panda’s. This was a day for having fun at the zoo.
"I will not be robbed." Chi Lian declared.
"Tch." Madam Feng responded. Lady Chi had been to her cake factory ten times so far, seeking the secret recipe for their cheese cake. She robbed cakes and left money behind. Her cream filled fingerprints were always left on the back of Huaqi’s freezers.
Who was the robber between them?
"I will take it." Jun Muyang said. "Just me and Jingzhe. Everyone else can follow us if they wish to."
Judge Gong did not hesitate and she declared it a deal. She wanted to get past the most difficult holiday to decide, the Lunar New Year. "I know that none of you is going to give in when it comes the new year so here is my judgement. Her time will be split into two. One half of the holiday will be spent with the Jun’s and the other, the Feng’s. It is up to you to decide on who gets her in which half.
All I see here are grandparents that love Mingzhu and want to spend time with her. Do not turn it into a competition and leave that baby torn between two sides.
Also, remember the parents of the child as they are important too. Sometimes, they will want to spend holidays with their daughter, away from the rest of the family. It is their right because that is their child. That is why I am not deciding between school days and breaks." She snapped her fingers twice. "Court adjourned."
