Chapter 254: Baby v. Everybody.

Mei Mei returned home to a full house. Everyone had showed up to support her and hear about the mediation. When the three of them arrived, everyone was discussing the shooting of the Empress and what a shocker it was.

"I just knew it was going to happen when she started to mention the major technology companies. Some are owned by men and women in organized crime. How can they quietly watch as the most advanced empire in the world bans technology."

"Do we really believe that Empress Hui means what she says? The woman is addicted to her phone and every other gadget that connects her to the internet."

"Thousands of people showed, up for the really. It is amazing that only one person got shot."

"Who got shot?" Mei Mei asked, as she paused in the entrance to the living room.

"Sister." Jun Yi screamed.

While everyone was glad to see Mei Mei, she seemed to be the most excited, showing more enthusiasm than Mingzhu who was wriggling like a worm in madam Feng’s arms, desperate to go to her mother.

Jun Yi threw herself at Mei Mei. "Sister, how was it? Did that jerk cry?"

"No." Mei Mei replied.

The answer had every head turning to Chi Lian and Muyang. In the eyes of every family member was a question, "What did you not do right? Why didn’t he cry?"

Mei Mei tried to lower Jun Yi but her sister clung to her neck like a koala plastered to her with glue. "Sister, at least tell me that he walked out with a limp."

"A broken leg." Chi Wei said.

"Zero arms." Princess Rize leaned forward.

"No head!" Jun Jie shrugged.

Chi Lian rolled her eyes. "We are not a family of gangsters, we are law abiding citizens that will see this through the right way."

Rize gasped. "The right way!!"

"She means we are bribing the judges." Grandpa Jun announced.

"And Mo Liang’s lawyers." Grandma Jun added.

"And all the witnesses." Grandpa Chi reminded them.

Madam Feng muttered, "You might as well bribe everyone involved in the case."

"Ooh, great idea." Grandma Jun looked around the room "We should not forget the public prosecutor, court clerk, judicial police."

Madam Feng was left speechless, did they not hear the sarcasm in her voice? Clearly, these people simply had too much money because why did they need to bribe court clerks and the judicial police? A judge, witnesses and the prosecutor...sure but other parties were not necessary.

"Does this mean Tang Yue’s new dream life in America is about to be cut short? She is an accomplice , and an accessory after the fact." Jun Yi looked over her right shoulder to share this all the while still clinging to Mei Mei.

Mingzhu was trying to pull her down meanwhile because it was her turn to be carried. "Mommy, mommy, I am here."

Jun Yi stuck her tongue out at Mingzhu childishly.

"Oh for heavens sake!" Chi Lian pulled Jun Yi out of Mei Mei’s arms and carried her like a princess. "If you want to be carried, I your mommy have the strength and ability.

Jun Yi shamelessly stayed where she was, in her mother’s arms and Mingzhu finally got to cradle in her own mother’s arms.

Muyang yawned. "Tang Yue is already on her way back. Marshals picked her up and handed her over to the Imperial police. Her flight will be landing in twenty minutes." He had to look at his watch to confirm that.

Ringo strolled back into the crowded living room with a plate of food. "This whole mess would be so easy if you all relented and allowed me to make that Mo bug vanish."

Grandma Jun frowned at her son. "And have people speculate about our family, absolutely not."

"Mommy." Mingzhu called out in a baby voice.

Mei Mei tightened her hands around her daughter. "Let’s go. Mommy is going to give you a bath because you smell like cream, sugar...did you have ice cream?"

Minghzu nodded as they walked away.

"How many?" Mei Mei asked her.

Mingzhu started to count from one to three, only stopping when she noticed the displeased glare on the face of her mother. The little girl decided to bathe obediently otherwise she might not taste ice cream again for two years.

She did feel the need to point out that her great grandparents were responsible for over indulging her. The adults had provided the ice cream and all she had done was eat some. She was just an innocent baby that was incapable of arguing with adults.

"Mommy, Mingzhu will press your shoulders after our bath." she said. "Great grandma told me that I must always be nice and grateful to you and everyone that cares for me. I must be a good obedient girl and fight less. Mingzhu must learn to use her words to win over others, not just fists."

Mei Mei nodded. "Did you fight with your cousins?" She asked while pushing the bedroom door open.

Mingzhu pouted, which was a yes.

"Did you apologize if you were in wrong or did they apologize to you?" Mei Mei sat her down on the bed and looked at her.

Mingzhu twisted from side to side slowly. "Everyone had to apologize. We were all bad babies."

Mei Mei gave Mingzhu a bath and took a shower as well. After all that sweating in the mediation room and being in close quarters to Mo Liang, her body needed thorough cleansing.

When they returned downstairs, everyone was gone, except for her parents that were talking to Madam Feng. While the relatives were gone, lawyers had showed instead. It seemed like an important business deal was being settled.

When Mei Mei was about to take a step forward, someone touched her shoulder. It was Jingzhe. He had not been home for five days, busy working on a project whose details he had not shared with her.

"What are the company lawyers doing here?" He muttered.

Mei Mei shrugged. She had the same question, what were Phoenix group lawyers doing in her house? Was Huaqi about to enter some kind of business arrangement with Phoenix group?

Someone stood up and Mei Mei’s mouth opened a little. It was mediator Wei. What was he doing in her house?

She was about to ask that question when Rose swept into the living room with another woman and the Empress mother.

"I brought a real judge." Rose shared, breathing deeply. She paused and stood next to Mei Mei, "Little sis, when this was happening in my family, I was very flabbergasted. But don’t worry, it is a good thing. It will save everyone from anger and give you peace of mind."

"What is happening?" Jingzhe asked.

Rose pointed at Little Mingzhu. "It’s all about your precious dumpling cheek sized daughter. It is called Baby v. Everybody. Or, in simple terms, a custody battle between the grandparents."
