Chapter 363: The Grand Memory Recovery Technique

Unlike the leisurely atmosphere on Su Xiaoxiao’s side, Su Hongchen was extremely busy.

He accompanied the military personnel to escort Gui Zhenzhen and the man to the base, where the National Security Office immediately took over. Initially, Su Hongchen wasn’t supposed to participate in the interrogation, but since both he and his family were among the targets, Grandpa Zhang vouched for him, allowing him to be involved throughout the process.

The man was awakened by a splash of cold water, showing no surprise when he realized he was in the interrogation room. However, his gaze lingered briefly on Su Hongchen when he noticed him.

"Why are you targeting Su Xiaoxiao, just an ordinary educated youth?" an officer from the National Security Office knocked on the table and sternly questioned.

The man lowered his head with a calm expression, refusing to answer any questions.

This reaction was expected, so no one bothered to waste words. They proceeded directly with the Grand Memory Recovery Technique. However, it became apparent that this man had undergone special training, making the technique ineffective on him.

Without hesitation, they stripped off his thick cotton jacket and doused him with several more buckets of cold water. Shivering from the cold, the man glared at them viciously, his teeth chattering. "None of your tricks will work on me. If you’ve got the guts, just kill me. I won’t say a word."

"Everyone who comes in here says they won’t talk, but in the end, they all confess," one of the National Security officers mocked coldly.

The man sneered, biting down hard on his right molar. But his expression quickly turned to shock. How was that possible?!

"Looking for this?" Su Hongchen opened his hand, revealing a capsule no bigger than a grain of rice.

His sister had pulled it from his mouth when they tied him up. They’d been tricked too many times before—there was no way they were falling into the same trap again.

The man glared furiously. "Hah, if you’ve got the guts, kill me now. Otherwise, I’ll find a way to die anyway."

"Do you even have the strength to die right now?" Su Hongchen raised an eyebrow.

Afraid that the man might attempt suicide, they had injected him with a drug after bringing him in. He didn’t even have the strength to bite his tongue or slam his head into the wall. Even if they let him go, he couldn’t stand up on his own.

"You’re despicable!" the man cursed angrily.

The National Security officers didn’t waste time arguing and stepped aside.

"Go ahead. Just don’t kill him," one of them said.

Su Hongchen cracked his knuckles and yanked the man out of his chair, landing punch after punch into his stomach.

If the man had only come after him, Su Hongchen wouldn’t have been so angry. But his sister, who couldn’t even lift a heavy bag, had narrowly escaped this ordeal by pure luck. The thought of what could have happened to her if things had gone even slightly wrong made him furious.

Even after beating the man to the point of coughing up blood, he refused to reveal anything. Disgusted, Su Hongchen tossed him onto the ground and returned to the two officers. They handed him a cigarette and reassured him.

"Don’t worry. These types of people are tougher than the ones you’re used to. It’ll take about three days before he cracks. Come back and take your time with him over the next few days."

Thinking about his father, Su Hongchen frowned, feeling agitated.

Before he could respond, there was a knock on the door of the interrogation room. One of the officers motioned for Su Hongchen to come outside.

"Have you found out who he is?" Su Hongchen asked urgently.

"Yes, we’ve discovered he’s the director of Textile Factory No. 1. We’re heading to his house to investigate. Want to come along?" the officer asked.

Without hesitation, Su Hongchen nodded. "Yes!"

Since the man wasn’t going to talk anytime soon, it was better to check his home for clues.

They got into a plain sedan and quickly arrived at the factory’s residential area. As soon as the car pulled in, the women chatting under the trees turned their attention toward them.

The residents lived in a communal housing block, so there were neighbors watching as they headed upstairs. When they stopped at the man’s apartment, a neighbor immediately said, "Are you here to give Xiao Jin an award?"

"What award?" Su Hongchen asked, puzzled.

"For adopting lost children, of course! Xiao Jin and his wife are good people. They only have one biological child, but every time they come across lost children, they take them in. Some of the kids have been returned to their families over time, but they still have six girls living with them now. We’ve all told them that those girls were probably abandoned by their families and that they shouldn’t hold out hope for their parents to come looking. But Xiao Jin and his wife would rather scrimp and save than abandon those kids."

The neighbor’s tone was a mix of admiration and a hint of ridicule.

Su Hongchen and the National Security officers smiled politely at her before knocking on the door. They could hear sounds inside, but no one came to open the door.

"Why aren’t the kids answering?" Su Hongchen asked the neighbor.

She sighed helplessly. "Those girls are timid. They barely talk to us, let alone strangers. If you’re looking for Xiao Jin, you should just find him. The kids wouldn’t know what to say to you."

Su Hongchen nodded. Just as the neighbor expected them to leave, one of the National Security officers lifted his foot and kicked the door open.

The neighbor gasped in shock, rushing over to stop them.

"What are you doing? There are only girls in there! You’re not planning to kidnap them, are you?"
